  • @emgee27 Definitely trying to stay low stress, because really stressing obviously won't help at all. I'll updated as soon as I get results for sure!

@fbanke42 Mellow pre-e would be ideal! (After none, obviously) Hoping your BP stays down too!!!

    3 miscarriages - 1 DS (6) - 1 DD (3)  - #3 due March 30!

  • @CCLow87 I am sorry to hear about your struggles. What was your BP? Hoping this is just a false alarm!

It was 114/84. Diastolic has been upper 60s, lower 70s. My BP with my daughter was 200/120 with my daughter, so at least we aren't THERE yet!!!! Thank goodness!

Yep. That number didn't worry her too much independently, but with my history she wasn't happy to see it creeping up. I have my trusty at home cuff though, so I'll just keep monitoring it. :)

I think when they started testing me for pre-e mine was 145/90 (or something like that). It was at 170 something/80 or 90 when they admitted me to be induced.

Today is the day of my shower and I'm having social anxiety anxiety already.  There will be 50 people there and many of them don't know each other. Mostly, I'm not a fan of being the center of attention .
    Missing wine right now!
My shower was the 21st as well!! I feel you on being center of attention. So many people showed up I felt like I couldn't relax because I needed to make an appearance for each group and spend some time with each so no one felt left out! And holy crap was I exhausted.

My party favors were little wine bottles and I was mad jealous I couldn't partake haha

  • ok STMs out there I need help

i didn't get many clothing items at the shower and I'm not sure what I really need for LO
    here is all I have:

    4 NB onzies
    2 sleep sacks size small
    4 0-3 month size onzies
2 0-3 month long sleeve onzies with footies
    3 3 month onzies
    a few pairs of socks
    and 5 swaddle blankets.

The other few things I have are outfits that are 3 months up to 12 months and not things you put baby to sleep in or wear at home

I seriously have no idea what to put on this child or what I need
  • @jonesl12 Remind me again where you live, so I know what the temps will be early on for baby?

Honestly that sounds like a decent amount of stuff. What you may want to get is a pack of the Gerber sleep and plays in 0-3 or a few sleepers (I always get mine at TJMaxx or Marshals or something). Given that they wear this size for such a short time (usually, DD1 was in NB until about 2 months, but we didn't have a ton of NB, just washed it) there's no point getting a ton. We only ever used one sleep sack, though we had a back up in case of a blow out or something (which she has never had...like, ever...). I'd say have about 5 sleepers, and plan to do laundry every other day or something. For some reason I also feel like you were the one who posted about getting a bunch of good stuff at Once Upon a Child, right? We get almost all our clothes there, or my MIL purchases stuff on clearance or is the queen of garage sales and gets great stuff second hand. The only thing I don't really buy second hand is pajamas, just because of the way the fabric normally wears. You can get lucky though, we found 3 pairs of brand new, tags still on, Disney pajamas in 3T for DD1 at Once Upon a Child last week, $4.50 each.

Okay, I just counted up Maddie's drawer:

All the NB & 0-3 are together:

    17 onesies
    5 pants
    4 sleep & plays
4 cotton sleep gowns (the best everrrrrr, even for boys)
3 fleece sleep sacks (also amazing for night, vs sleep & plays)
1 cute dress (obviously she needs more dresses... lol)
    1 fleece jacket
    1 cardigan

This is baby number 3 for me, if that helps any!

    3 miscarriages - 1 DS (6) - 1 DD (3)  - #3 due March 30!

  • OH yes, as @CCLow87 said, the cotton sleep gowns. I didn't have them with DD1, but I bought these (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V93XAYA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00) sleep gowns for DD2, I've heard such good things about them, and the elephants were SO adorable. She'll probably live in these when we're home the first few weeks haha

  • BH were so intense and frequent last night that I immidiately had to lay down after dinner. Now that DH gets home at a decent hour, he was able to take care of DS while I tried to get my BH to calm down... Which they refused to do. They went on for about three hours before I ended up just passing out. I feel ok this morning. I have a feeling that the lifting and constant walking at work is not helping.

  • @thaisac1 So I never got the HPV vaccine when I was younger because I was not sexually active until DH. You may know the answer to this, is getting the vaccine really on necessary if you ARE sexually active? Being the mom of two (possibly more down the road) girls, I feel like I should know this information...

@fbanke42 I was also having quite the day of BHs yesterday. Thankfully, DH came to my appointment with me yesterday for the first time since our 18 week anatomy scan (the only reason he hasn't come since then is because being #2, there is seriously no need for him to take the time off for me to pee in a cup and have a 2 second conversation with the doctor, and since his car is in the shop he's using mine and chauffeuring me around so he had no choice but to come yesterday haha) and was able to hear my midwife talk to me about the BH. It was great having him hear her say that when I get them I really need to lay down, drink water, relax...he's USUALLY pretty good about accommodating me when I'm struggling with the aches and pains, but sometimes he thinks I'm exaggerating. I had a few BH while in the office as confirmed by the midwife, so hopefully he'll listen a bit more!

I don't do primary care but my understanding is that the vaccine is recommended in young girls before they are sexually active so they can protected before they ever get in contact with the virus. Young women apparently can get the vaccine up to age 26.
I looked up the CDC recommendation for you: https://www.cdc.gov/hpv/parents/vaccine.html

Cute! I also HIGHLY recommend a French braid for L&D. Even with it braided my hair took forever to brush out afterward - I can't imagine how tangled a ponytail or messy bun would have been!

  • @mrstrax Is it bad that I've googled hairstyles to do my hair to keep it away from my face but also cute for pictures? I was thinking of something similar to this...

...you know, because I'm going to have all this time to do my hair, because I won't be in pain or anything... ;)

ETA: This is actually the picture I pinned months ago as my inspiration for L&D hair. Seriously, do I really think I'm going to have time for this...?!

I'm just thinking about how my face swelled up like a puffer fish from IV fluids when E was born.. no good hairstyle will save me there.

I never got this vaccine because when it came out the church we were going to put out a pamphlet saying that it would increase a girl's likelihood of having premarital sex, and that it hadn't been tested enough. Shortly after the first wave they released another pamphlet saying it actually causes the start of early puberty. I was under the impression that you could only get the shot if you hadn't become sexually active this entire time, or I would have done it years ago -.-
  • @Knottie9983816 So I am a Christian. I did "save myself for marriage". But even I think that is poor advice. I personally made the choice to not be sexually active until I married DH. No amount of what my parents may or may not have said in the matter ultimately made that decision for me. And even though I plan to teach my girls about what the Bible says, and the choices that I made, I'm well aware that they may choose otherwise, despite what we will teach them. I'm hoping I can also show that that no matter what choices they make, I'm their mom and I will love them no matter what. And yes, if this is still a concern when they are old enough for the vaccine, you can be darn sure I will have them get it. Is that making it "more likely" that they'll have premarital sex? I don't think so, because it doesn't change any of what I teach them and the choices that they will make. But its protecting them if they make a choice for themselves, or GOD FORBID, are put in a situation where don't have a say in the matter (and you can bet I will hunt the SOB down if that is ever the case...).
The truly crappy thing about the whole situation was my sister got pregnant in highschool, married a marine, and moved across the country. While she was in Cali he cheated on her with anything that paid attention to him, and she developed cervical cancer. (She got it all cleared up, and has been fine since.)

I was more commenting to say that I feel dumb for taking my parent's word for it about that vaccine, rather than researching it on my own and doing it for myself when I was capable. I truly have no problem with teaching children/teens to wait until maturity or marriage for sex, but just like everything you else you teach them, they are going to make their own decisions about, like you said. My parents were very naïve in that respect... I joke with my fiancé now that they were never prepared for a kid like me who questioned everything from such a young age, and didn't respect most of the answers they gave.

I also chose not to ever get the vaccine because I was not sexually active and still have only ever been with DH (not religiously motivated) so I didn't think it made any sense to get it because isn't that really the only way to get HPV? Does anyone know why the cutoff is 26? Is it just no longer recommended or does it not work or what?

But yeah, it ended up like this, so I'll probably take a big wide headband like you got too, just to keep the fly-aways contained.
