So do I have to have a nursing bra? I don't really wear bras, and wasn't planning on getting one, but apparently it's a necessity???
I just found a lightly padded bra that was easy to move out of the way. Front close bras also work. Some form of bra (or shelf bra from a camo) is probably advisable just so you can have breast pads to prevent leaks. I ended up not nursing for very long with DS, but that's my two cents.
I agree, if you don't typically wear a bra you probably don't need to buy nursing ones, but I would HIGHLY recommend the nursing camis, because you will need something to keep the nipple pads in place and they're just so dang convenient.
I like the idea of cami's! That's usually all I wear now. (Unless I'm wearing a dress, then I like to look like a citizen, and not just a dirty hippie, as my fiancé calls me, lol)

@tkaiser91 It's funny to me that all my back pain stopped when I pretty much said good bye to bras. I'm 36DD (pre pregnancy) and I have NO idea what I've swelled to now lol. I think the idea of leaking through all my shirts will drive me insane, but idc what people think of my nipples roaming free and bouncing all over the place ;) That's just me though :)

  • I just realized that since today is Valentine's Day, all of the Easter stuff will be going up in full swing. That makes me sad because my Jewish grandmother LOVED Easter... I'm looking forward to seeing DS hunt for eggs this year, since he was too small to care last year. It also means we're all getting closer and closer to our due dates. If you go by my original EDD, Easter is in my 5 week window, which terrifies me. I am not ready for this kid to be out yet. I need to find a new place for us to live and get my leave completely figured out.

Keep faith! DH and I looked at a total of 16 places before we found the one that works for us!!

DH is going to call four places (two are ones that weren't open yesterday) on Monday before he goes to work or on his lunch. My mom keeps sending me places that are too far away and my dad keeps recommending places based on how they look. Everyone else just keeps sending us links to places that are out of the price range that we want. I'm hoping that one of the four places DH calls tomorrow has an opening and is in the price range that we want. The Portland metro area has become ridiculously expensive. One of the places we went to yesterday wanted $1500 a month for a two bedroom! I could rent a house for that!

  • Why did I agree to watch my nephews today? I love them. I usually enjoy spending time with them... Today, however, I am exhausted, and I want to be in bed with my fiancé snuggling and having random sex. Looks like we'll be watching Disney movies and playing board games all day instead. Not a horrible trade off... I just wish this could have been a thing a few weeks ago, when moving was actually slightly easier...

Side rant: I started having BH off and on all day yesterday through my shower, and well into last night. I woke up every two hours from it, but I figured I shouldn't call the hospital/make the 45 minute drive unless I couldn't sleep through it... I'm glad I didn't go in because today, other than being exhausted, I haven't felt any at all.

I've decided I'm done with winter, so I'm making coconut lime cupcakes with rum frosting. So anxious for them to be cooled so I can frost them and stuff myself silly.
That sounds amazing..especially considering Mike won't touch anything coconut ;)
  • Apparently where I live in Oregon winter lasts only a week. It's 70 now and the daffodils have started to bloom.

I'm very into them. The imitation rum extract did basically nothing for the frosting, so I made them extra coconut-y with extract + coconut milk and added extra lime juice for giggles. They're perfect now.
Those sound AMAZING. I can't wait for the one I'm sure you're getting ready to send me in the mail to get here!
  • @NOLA520 Those sound great. Except for the lime part. I'm allergic to lime  :#

Some of us regulars pulled across to a new FB group page and there's info in here on who to contact to join over there if you're interested. Otherwise, nothing seismic.  ;)
  • Looks like I'll at least go skim! Thanks!
  • I do not want to be at work anymore. I have zero drive to get anything done. All I want to do is crawl into bed so that I can cry in private. My coworker may have been a crazy and cranky old man, but he was loved by so many people at work. It makes me so sad that his birthday/anniversary weekend was ruined by pneumonia... Then to lose him the day after his birthday? I can't imagine how his poor girlfriend is feeling.

  • When it rains, it pours. I just found out that my grandmother has lymphoma. Not sure when, but she'll be doing chemo to treat it.

On a happier note, I found a few apartments that are in my price range with openings. Now they just need to call me back.

  • Ugh I'm sorry :(
  • @fbanke42 I'm so sorry. I hope they caught it early.
  • @AmadorRose My grandmother is kind of being secretive about the whole thing. It SOUNDS like they caught it early, but then again her doctor also asked why she waited so long to come in... It's under one of her arms and in her intestines.

  • @fbanke42 I don't know much about lymphoma but I know how hard it is to watch family members battle illness, especially cancer. Cancer sucks.
  • My coworker took over my desk/computer because she had to use a program she can't get on hers (I'm on a different network), but she's fake working. Really she's snacking and watching YouTube videos. There's another set up for me to use and I have nothing to do, but still Get out of my office!

  • The vagina bubbles thread is grossing me out. I don't want to know about your queefs.

  • OMG @yodiggity I haven't opened that thread yet, mostly because who knows what they track at work and I'd rather not get flagged for looking at that! But now....yuck! That's like the "is this my mucus plug?" photo posts! I'm sure those are not far off!

Also, it just dawned on me that I bought 2 boxes of girl scout cookes on Saturday morning...and HAVEN'T TOUCHED THEM.  WTF is my problem?! Now, I am super excited to get home and eat dinner so I can have dessert!!

    WHAT? Where????
  • So thus far my mom has been vehemently opposed to knowing LO's name and was very dissapointed that we weren't team green like all my siblings. Today, she asked what name we had picked and said, "If I don't like it, I'll just be quiet for a minute. I won't say anything about it." To be fair, we had just talked about a girl who is shadowing her who is naming her daughter Lakyn. But she loves the name AND the nickname! She thinks Elena is beautiful and elegant and Ellie is just the cutest. This is pretty much the most excitement she's shown about the pregnancy so I'm on cloud nine right now!
I agree with your mom! Elena is a very elegant name and Ellie is simply adorable. Good pick!
  • @AmadorRose it's a very beautiful name <3 and yay!

  • AmadorRose I like it too! Will you say it with a hard "E" E-lena or El-ena?

It's always cool to get parental approval, even if it doesn't really make a difference in your decision.

When we told my dad we decided on Sadie, he said, "Like the demon?".....WtF does that even mean??? I tried google it but I think he just made that shit up.

He was a little upset that we didn't go with an "A"  name, like he has, my siblings and I have AND my niece. Like Duggar style.

I've definitely never heard of a demon named Sadie, and that's an adorable name. And she will definitely appreciate not following the trend as she grows up.
I know it doesn't actually matter, but I'm really excited that she's finally showing some interest.  I'll pronounce it el-ay-nuh because that's how it rolls off my tongue but mispronunciations won't bother me because I think they're all pretty.

I'm not a fan of the selfie where the woman is leaning over just so her boobs fall out... And then they complain that they only get comments about their chest.

Or the "I'm actually just showing off my jewelry" selfie.

  • DS developed a fever of 102 out of nowhere last night. We got it down to 99 before bed, but now it's back at 102. Poor kid has no other symptoms. I want to stay home with him in case his fever gets worse, but DH already told me to go to work... So now I feel guilty while getting ready.

  • @fbanke42 DD had that starting Friday afternoon too! Hopefully your DS feels better quickly.  And that it doesn't end up super scary like DD.  She ended up collapsing Friday night and after taking her to the ER everything checked out fine, though she still has a low-grade fever even with Tylenol and Motrin.  We got referred to a cardiologist just to rule out any issues in that department.
Don't feel like a bad mama for going in to work.  I know it's tough, but sometimes we have to let Dads take some of the burden, and lose some of the sick time!

  • @briterfly84 DH doesn't have any sick time at work, so he'll likely be going to work too. It's his last week at his current job, and his next job only pays once a month, so losing a day would suck financially. My MIL is the one who watches DS, so at least he'll be with a family member.
