You guys get me!! Your posts cheered me up, it's nice to know I'm not alone. The ghost part had me dying laughing. I had a good NST today but the midwife didn't even bother seeing me, much less checking my cervix. She was subbing in for my doctor who was out today and she was supposed to try to strip my membranes. So that was really disappointing. I have one more appointment Tues and we'll begin an induction on Wed if she doesn't come on her own. We're so close guys!

  • Thanks @claireloSC !  I'm getting excited and nervous.  I'm also trying to wrap my mind around the fact that it's probably going to be a very long process.  I have to check in tomorrow at 3pm to start cervadil and my OB won't be checking me again until around 5 or 6 the following morning!  And that's just for cervadil, no pitocin or anything.  I've still had no signs of labor at all, so I think I will definitely need the pitocin to get labor going, so... I'm guessing our LO will be born late Monday or possibly even Tuesday?  And then we'll be in the hospital for 24-48 after that... I just can't imagine being in the hospital that long!  It's crazy.  Or everything could go super quick, you just never know.

I'm just trying to get those last minute jitters to calm down, gonna re check my hospital bag and then get to bed early for as much rest as possible.  It's funny, as a FTM I am SO looking forward to this baby being born, but I also literally cannot imagine what it's going to be like to be in labor, and even more than that, to come home from the hospital with a little person!  I know it's what I've been preparing for this whole time, but I'm having a hard time actually anticipating what it'll be like to have a baby at home with us.  Crazy!

Anyway, I hope by the time I get home all of you late January ladies will have also had your babies and I can check out their cute pictures in the birth announcements thread.  Wishing everyone still hanging in there, safe and ideally, short deliveries!  ;)
  • Good luck @maureenmce! It feels like I'll be the last to finally go into labor cause I have a strong feeling he will stay put until I have to be induced on the 13th :(

Aww, hang in there @DianaL92. When was your due date? Depending on your induction plan you could easily have the baby the same day as your induction. :) My Dr also wants a slow induction @maureenmce so I'm planning on it taking a couple of days. We'll start it Wed night. 12 hours for cervadil, another 12 hours if that doesn't work, then foley bulb, then pitocin. It could definitely be a while. At my last appointment I was at least 50% effaced and baby was engaged but still not dilated at all, so not holding out a lot of hope that she's coming on her own.

  • 41 + 2 and no change. Induction Tuesday morning if she doesn't come on her own before then. Sigh.

  • Same @Karenin, 41+2 and induction scheduled to start Wed night. Haven't had a check for a few days but not feeling too hopeful. Almost there! It's really discouraging though.

  • Ha, so thus far, induction day has not quite gone according to plan!  First, my husband either had a massive allergy attack this morning or suddenly has a terrible cold.  We're not sure which (hoping for allergy attack - since it started after he visited our neighbors, their three cats and, since they had just moved in, probably a bunch of dust.)  Anyway, he's a mess and can barely breathe or open his eyes, but we got our hospital bags together and were on our way to the hospital for the 3pm induction when we got a call from L and D telling us not to come in yet because they're slammed and have no spare rooms.  We got moved from our 3pm induction time to between 5 and 5:30, and will probably have to start out the evening in triage instead of a room even at 5:30, due to how busy they are.  A bunch of Superbowl babies, apparently!

So... right now I'm back at home, nervous and bored at the same time, my husband is fast asleep and sounding terrible, and baby is meanwhile, of course, just as happy as a clam where she is - no signs of anything still. Ha!  Best laid plans and whatnot.  Hoping things go more smoothly in the later part of the day!  I'm beginning to feel like this is all some practical joke and I will continue being pregnant for 100 years.
  • That's crazy @maureenmce! Hoping you get in soon!!!

  • Congrats @Karenin! So exciting! Best wishes for a speedy and safe delivery!

@maureenmce Darn, that's so disappointing. I'm sorry you're dealing with that. A few more hours for LO to come on her own, eh? I hope they get you in and get the ball rolling ASAP!

  • @claireloSC my due date was 1/31 so my induction date is the earliest they will book me since baby is healthy and seems very content being in the womb lol. Good luck @Karenin and send some labor vibes our way!
  • @DianaL92 Gotcha, so they want you to go all the way to 41+6, that makes sense. My Dr. wanted to go to 41+6 too but because we moved my due date back a day to go off conception instead of LMP, I asked to do it at 41+5 (which is really 41+6 since LMP) and she agreed. Going to 42 weeks is cruel and unusual, lol, I hope we both go into labor well before then!

  • Yeah,  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of us. I have a membrane sweep tomorrow morning, but I'm not putting much faith in it. That way I won't get my hopes up lol. No matter what, this time next week all this waiting frustration will be a thing of the past :)
  • Started having contractions early morning. When I went to my appointment they checked me and said I was 3cm. They sent me home and told me to come back later if my contractions got closer and stronger. Now they're 2 mins apart and hurt like hell. We're on our way to the birthing center now.
  • Congrats @Karenin! Good luck @DianaL92! I think I'm officially the last one to have their baby now...

  • @claireloSC you still getting induced tomorrow? Thinking about you!

  • Yay  ladies!'
  • So happy for you, @claireloSC ! I've been keeping an eye out for your announcement. Sounds like you did amazing through a tough labor. Hope you're recovering and bonding well!
  • Omg @BYeByeSpotts! What an amazing story! I am tearing up reading it. Congrats on getting your LO out just the way she needed to get out! Those momma bear instincts came on strong!

Thank you so much @klbh! While recovery is very tough, I'm so in love with my daughter that I feel really close to her. All I want to do is snuggle her! I hope your recovery and bonding is going well too!

  • @ByeByeSpotts - Oh wow, I'm so glad your LO is okay!  That's terrifying.

Our situation was not nearly as scary, but when LO was born she was blue and not making any sounds when they laid her on my chest.  It took a terrifyingly long time for the doctor and nurse to get her to come to and pink up (long enough that they started to call in the NICU team) but then she finally did cough and cry before the NICU people arrived.  It was the longest, most terrifying couple of minutes of my life, so I can't imagine how scared you must've been through your whole experience!
