One doctor said I was 3-4 cm so I was super pumped. Went to the hospital because I was having mild contractions and some back pain and the other doctor was like oh no she's too nice. You're only 2 cm and the baby is hanging onto your tonsils. Your not ready. I feel so discouraged! I just really need her to get off my lungs at this point anyway lol I'm not 40+3 and I'm going Monday to talk about induction. I'd like to wait as long as possible though to get things moving on my own. Fingers crossed!
@Ameehan81592 Hang in there! I'm 40+3 as well. It feels like I've been pregnant forever, but this is not at all an unusual time for a baby to arrive. It feels like everyone's been quick to start talking about induction since my EDD arrived (and even a couple of days before), but I'm trying to remind myself that babies are just as likely to come after their due dates as before, and my situation is not at all unusual or problematic. I've been over 2cm for weeks now. I'm definitely going to skip the early cervix checks with the next babe! They just got my hopes up and made me feel an artificial sense of urgency. Trying to trust that my body knows what it's doing.
@klbh I went from being tightly closed at 0cm at 39 weeks to having a least a little something at 40 weeks so at least there's that lol. But yeah my doctor doesn't like to let it go past 41 weeks so at my appointment this Wednesday I'll be 41 exactly and I know we'll pick a date. But my I laws are on vacation until the 7th so I'd really like to hold off as long as possible to see if maybe she'll come on her own and then maybe that way they can be around as well. But, it's not up to me anymore, it's all up to her lol. So we shall see soon!
40+6 today. I'm scheduled for an induction monday morning so it looks like I'm actually having a February baby! Good luck for all the ladies this weekend!
I'm seriously grumpy because for some reason I'm stuck on this being a January baby. My DD was due Jan 31 and was a few days late and I couldn't have cared less about January versus February so I have no idea why it suddenly matters so much but I'm like this baby HAS to be born this weekend!!! I try to cheer myself up that maybe my girls will have the same birthday and that would be fun but I'm weirdly stubbornly trying to insist this baby be born in January. Zero signs of any changes today.
@Karenin I wanted a Feb baby, but I noticed today that I'm kind of sad that my due date will most likely come and go tomorrow. I got so used to telling people my due date that I'm starting to feel weird saying he's not going to be a January baby anymore. That would be really cute if your children have the same birthday
I'm being induced tomorrow morning and even though I'm so ready to be done being pregnant I'm starting to get terrified of labour and delivery! I was really hoping my nerves wouldn't get to me but I'm really starting to get scared, just keep trying to tell myself women do this everyday and it'll all be worth it in the end!
As for me, we just got in the teeniest, tiniest fender bender with a pole. My husband was backing out of a car wash and couldn't see the pole and hit it. We were going probably 5mph and it was the smallest bump (no damage, not even a scratch) but he's feeling horrible and is nervous. He's about to call the doctor and make sure that we don't need to go in and get checked out. I'm sure it's fine, baby is moving all around as normal, and it was such a small thing, but I suppose better safe than sorry. (Though I am really hoping I don't have to go into L and D for this!)
@maureenmce If something was wrong you would probably be having contractions but of course better safe than sorry. I'm sure you're ok though. Lots of cushioning in there! I would probably just keep a really close eye on movements for the next few hours.

Almost 10cm, going to meet her soon, freaking out!! Right now my biggest thing is horrible heartburn since my stomach is empty, I keep almost vomiting so I'm pretty sure once I start pushing something will come up :-/ oh well, it'll be worth it!
Hi everyone hang in there!!! I had irregular contractions finally on Sunday 24 Jan but they went away...then on Monday 25 Jan woke at 4.30 am with regular contractions 6 mins apart. No mucus plug until 3 minutes apart, no waters breaking etc. I had baby in my arms at 5.32pm that day so don't stress as it will happen!! I was losing patience too!!! Ps had a water birth and it was amazing for pain relief.baby is called Amelie Isabelle and weighed 6lbs and 3oz at birth so she was a little one! The Saturday I had been for a long walk and Sunday eve a swim so don't know if that was what kicked it off.
@claireloSC - Luckily, I was able to talk to the OB on call and she told me absolutely not to stress out about it. LO has been moving around fine, so I'm trying to take her advice!
Spent most of the year counting down to January but it looks like this little smart alec is determined to be a February baby!
I'm supposed to head into L&D tonight to be induced but the way I feel now I might head in sooner... I think it's started on its own! I woke up with some pretty intense cramping and a lot of MP action (which was weird since I was pretty sure I lost it a couple weeks ago?) There isn't much of a pattern yet but they are getting stronger over the last couple hours so... fingers crossed!!
One way or another, today is the day it all begins for our soon-to-be family of three. Trying to figure out how to spend my last day of freedom, haha. Maybe a nap and baking lots of oatmeal cookies to stash in the freezer?
We're all so close, ladies. It won't be long now! ♡
DH is watching the kids so I can sit in Starbucks and read a book alone for an hour with a flat white. Definitely helping my grumpiness although I'm still hoping for contractions and a late January appearance by LO!
Well I was induced with cervidill this morning, been having some cramping since it was inserted so hopefully its working. They sent me home to rest and see if I go into active labour on my own and I go back in tonight at 10pm for an NST and to check to see if I'm dilating any further. If not I'll go home and then back in tomorrow and they'll decide what to do from there! I'm excited that something is finally happening but it does suck that its going to be such a long process I'm just anxious to get this show on the road.
So they just broke my water after a very long night of contractions! I'm also 8cm and 100% effaced. She should be here soon and were still a January baby!!! Good luck to all you ladies whether your in labor or still waiting!
Welp, it's officially my due date and the little lady seems quite content where she is - no signs of anything happening. Everything on the baby list (even my most recent and not entirely necessary additions) is done and I am in impatiently waiting mode. DH and I are gonna hit the road and head to Target, hoping some walking around indoors (it's raining out) will help spark something. And then we're going to have a dinner out, since we won't be doing that for a while once LO is born. I feel like it's just going to be a kind of long week ending in an induction Sunday night, but we'll see! Hopefully baby girl has other plans I don't know about.
So exciting to see other late Jan mamas in labor or in the process of induction. Can't wait to join you at some point soon!
@maureenmce Today is my due date too and little boy seems to be way too comfortable to come out. I won't be induced until right before Valentine's day! Hoping he decides to come on his own.
So after an almost perfect labor and they broke my water at 8 cm to get to the finishing job little girls placenta detached from my uterus too soon so her heart rate dropped in half. And after they tried to get it back up and failed they rushed me in for an emergency csection so fast that they actually put me under. Now since I had to be put under my little girl went straight to the NICU and I couldn't see her besides through the glass for almost 5 hours. But I just got back and she's a strong sucker and love to eat just like her daddy!!! She was 7lbs11oz and 20 inches long and she's perfect and I'm in love already!!!!
Had the worst pain in my groin at about 3 AM this morning. Went to adjust how I was laying down and all of a sudden felt like someone took a knife to the left side of my groin. Cried out in pain. Lasted about 5 seconds, but had some residual pain. My husband rubbed my back for a bit. Have been up since. Can't sleep.
40w2d. Doctors appt tomorrow. In-laws arrive in 10 days. Really want Baby to come before they get here.
I woke up with an upset stomach last night and foolishly got myself all excited, thinking it was the start of labor. Finally fell back asleep just before my husband had to wake up and started rattling around in the kitchen. Well, a morning nap will help the day pass! I never thought I'd be so sick of leisure time. Really wish I had the kind of work that could be done right up to delivery, but alas, I've been off for more than two weeks now.
I guess I can add "an eight mile walk followed by half a beer and half a box of Girl Scout cookies" to the list of things that don't induce labor.
@klbh I feel your pain! I am sooo bored! I was up from 3 am - 7 am. Had a horrible sharp stabbing at 3 am in my groin and then couldn't back to sleep. I think today's agenda will consist of nap eat walk on repeat.
I binged watched Baby Daddy last week. Any recommendations for a funny show to binge watch?
i just went for a very slow 45 minute walk and as it went along the pain got worst and worst in my lower belly/uterus. Felt like a cramp you get when running but wouldn't go away and just got worst. I stopped a few times because I thought I would burst into tears from the pain. Finally found a bench to sit on. Baby is moving fine. I only have 3 blocks to get home but dreading that walk. Not sure if my ligaments hate me or if this is the slow start of something?
edit: should mention felt like I was getting chills like you do when you have a fever and I've had a few loose stools this morning (sorry tmi!)
@ByeByeSpotts start if my labor was period like cramps and after my water broke, they did intensify with walking and using a yoga ball, and subsided when I stopped. Keep going if you can.
Just did some prenatal yoga videos after a lazy day, and now I have aches in my neck and upper back! I have learned my lesson and will resume netflixing on the couch, as that is clearly better for my body.
Add me into the camp of feeling like I'm gonna have a March baby, lol! Today I decided to try the 1 million errands method of labor induction. It didn't work, but at least I have purchased bins for reorganizing my storage closet, got wooden letters and paint to spell out baby's name over her crib, picked up my repaired camera, went grocery shopping, had a cardiologist appointment for them to check my heart before labor (all good), and filled up my car with gas. Still no baby though! And I am exhausted! SIGH.
I have my 40 week check up tomorrow (I'll be 40+2) and if I'm still not dilated at all I'm going to probably cry a little. My mom has come to town to wait, impatiently, the texts, facebook messages and phone calls have reached a fever pitch, and I am not sleeping more than a couple hours a night due to hip pain, so I am pretty done at this point!
I'm having really painful contractions every time I stand up after sitting for a while. I have them sometimes while sitting too, but they aren't as strong. They aren't happening in a regular pattern, but please someone tell me this means the real thing is coming soon. I'm due in 2 days and am already 4 weeks past how long I went with my son.
I really feel your pain ladies! @maureenmce if my baby is still not engaged I'm definitely going to cry since I'll be 40+5 at that appt. I am also getting all the ridiculous calls and all that. "Do you think baby is coming tomorrow?" I wish I knew! @Life is Exciting I'm in the same boat and have been for a couple weeks, so I wouldn't say the contractions mean anything for sure. They might, but might not! You just don't know, it sucks.
