I don't have anything to say about the baby drama thread, so I'll share some good news! I posted in the daily check-in thread about my terrible morning--vomited on myself and the car on my commute to work, had to go home to change, was late to work and then realized a water bottle spilled all over my purse contents (including my laptop). But good news! Laptop will be fine! A guy at the Applestore took pity on me and didn't mark it down as a water damage problem so the repairs will be free. TGIF after all!
I don't want to post a whole thread on this, I just want to rant real quick to my Bump BFFs.
Today is my DH 30th bday. Background on this superman: It's been a huge year for him (great new job in public service, marriage, baby on the way). He's a fantastic guy, very loving and self-sacrificing and unfortunately obedient to a fault.)
My MIL called before 8:00am, not to wish him a happy birthday, but to yell at him for not leaving a message when he called to let her know that the package she sent had arrived. The package had tracking and he did try to call to thank you....so how the F is it worth it to get mad about today? It was just so ridiculous! She took him to task through the whole 5-10minute call then hung up and left it there.
He was upset so I gave him my present early to cheer him up and distract him, but in the back of my mind I'm gritting my teeth and just want to read her the riot act. I can't say anything Bc that would make him feel worse, but I really can't stand her.
@Hbamama2B grrrr, that's awful. Feel bad for your DH but hope he has a happy birthday otherwise! Maybe he'll get a call from her later when she finally looks at a calendar and realizes what a cow she was this morning?
I am up way too early this morning. DD was an absolute friggin' nightmare to get to sleep last night. I'm assuming it was somehow related to her reflux issues we've been dealing with because otherwise she's just completely insane. I had really been looking forward to some alone time with DH but by the time she was finally asleep and not acting like she was possessed by demons, I was just mopey and exhausted and sick of being touched. Then this morning she woke up at 6 am. Noooooooo baby. 200 mg of caffeine is not going to fix this.
@catherinekate: Glad your Friday from hell turned around!
@HBamama2B: Wow. I feel bad for your H. His mom sounds like a miserable troll. I hope she realizes how awful she treated him and apologizes. Also, hope you and H are able to happily celebrate his 30th today!
@Emztron500: Man, hope baby chills out and you get your alone time with the fella.
@emztron500 your morning sounds worse than mine for sure! Sorry you continue to be sleep deprived.
MIL knows it's his bday today, she mentioned it in the call and then went on about how hard it is and how much effort it takes to wrap the gifts and ship them and how ungrateful he is. This is ironic given that she and FIL often tell him his gifts for them are terrible and that they don't like / are returning whatever he/we spent time and money on. (They like really spendy stuff, which is fine in their budget range, we just can't always afford to go big at our income and have to get creative).
Their gifts today: their left over nespresso pods and two work shirts and a tie (both of which are the wrong size and almost identical to others they've given him). Do I secretly think it's a little bit low on effort for a big bday? Yes. But in my house, flat rule: we accept gifts graciously. So they won't be hearing anything but thank yous for the thought and generosity and I'll just spend all day making him feel special.
@HBamama2B Ugh to your MIL. She sounds like a terror. How are some people so awful to those they "love." Happy birthday to your H. Hopefully you can turn his day around and show him how special he is!
@emztron500 Hoping for a chance for you to relax today!
I am beyond thankful my MIL isn't crazy..... She's coming out to California next weekend for a full week so we can do the nursery.
Im with you all... I hate 6 day work weeks. Even if Saturday's are my "short day", I still hate driving a half hour to work, only to work for an hour and a half.
Goodness you miss a few days and you miss a lot! I didn't quite realize how to use this thread, I've got it now! Because it's impossible to catch up on everything, a few things:
(I know this one is way old!) but @fishwife799 I'd love to be apart of the labor buddies. Really hopeful for a non-crazy but I would love someone to be in contact with as we don't plan on telling family until labor is done and some time (an hour or so) has passed.
@HBamama2B - You sound like a great wife! I hope you and your H are able to enjoy his day together and forget about the butt heads.
My random for the day...I most definitely said to my H today "the bump girls talk about their Taco Bell or whatever all the time so don't scold me for picking up Wendy's!" And my Wendy's was delicious.
*now to read the thread @NicknShan posted way back 3 days ago...good thing I have nothing to do today but catch up on TB!
Thanks. We were successfully distracted and had a lovely morning. I wish I could say their negative impact ended there...but while we were on our way to see Star Wars (whomp whomp!), FIL sent DH a text message chastising him Bc the call wth MIL this morning didn't go 'smoothly' and that MIL is under appreciated by all of us and doesn't get enough credit for her efforts and that the least DH could do is recognize how much a nice call of recognition today would mean to her.... ... ..........
I had to start tossing out hints to where I made reservations for dinner and let him guess to get distract him again. At this rate I'm going straight Oprah with all my carefully planned surprises and am gonna run out before 6:00pm. If they contact us again, I'm turning his damn phone off.
@HBamama2B I am baffled by their self-centeredness (yep, using that non word!). Kuddos to you for staying positive and keeping him distracted. I would have flipped a lid by now and just ruined it I'll remember your patience next time people are being butt heads!
I literally wanted to harm like 8 people in my immediate area today, especially my husband, FIL, and BIL. I then went to Safeway and bought a dozen bronco donuts and apple fritters. After eating 5 life is good again. A dozen donuts may have ensured the safety of many...
Did anyone just see the Super Bowl commercial of the Doritos?! Not only a Doritos commercial, but a pregnancy Doritios commercial...made me think of you fabulous ladies!
Going off @junebabyjoy 's post...I hate that being in Canada (with cable, not satellite) means I don't get the good Super Bowl commercials! I don't care about the teams playing this year, so the commercials were all I had to look forward to. Bummer! (Disclaimer: I stayed home sick rather than going to my inlaws for the party...they have satellite so I could have seen them then. This day is a total fail!)
@DeePaddy24 I'm sorry you're still not feeling well! You should be able to at least YouTube or Google good ones you hear about? Lame second choice, but at least you're getting some rest!

I just saw the Doritos one on Twitter of all places, lol. Hilarious! Now if all the new commercials could just be put there in real time I'd be set!
Lol. My dad sent me a link to that Doritos commercial yesterday. I posted the link above figuring this was the place for it, couldn't stop laughing at it.
I am irrationally upset that Budweiser didn't do an adorable commercial that makes me cry. I mean, the guy that gets reunited with his horse 2 years ago and the puppy last year. I was so looking forward to another super bowl commercial from them.
I was just messaging our wedding photographer to finally (9 months later) get our wedding pictures ordered and he offered to do a maternity shoot for us... wait for it... for free! It's not even a service he offers so it's just a super generous thing he's doing for us.
I was pretty adamant about not doing them because I would rather save and pay for newborn photos but now I'm super excited!
Zulily just got me... again! I really need to chill out on the internet shopping and just be exited for all the packages that should be trickling in.
And, DH told me over the weekend that he wants LO's room to have airplanes in it, does anyone know where to find cute aviation decorations that don't scream "boy"??? Doesn't have to be pink, but I also don't want them super masculine.
Happy (?) Monday! I just watched the Super Bowl half time show - oh my. I loved it! I thought the whole thing was fantastic. And, Chris Martin is a babe.
So my mum is in surgery today getting a knee replacement. My sister is going down for a week but has to come back next Tuesday so I'm going to head to their place next Monday with my toddler (it's about a 6-hour drive to my parents' place) to help them out for a while while Mum is recuperating. Is it bad that I'm kind of just looking forward to being in a house that has running water in the kitchen? I mean, HOPEFULLY my kitchen plumbing woes are resolved by then, but I'm sort of more than happy to leave that problem behind with my husband and go cook in someone's functional kitchen for a while...
