  • @elasticheart13 thanks for inspiring my breakfast meal of pancakes and a hot pocket this morning.. Damn pizza craving is contagious!

  • @mrstrax DD has always been funny about meat (she's definitely getting better, everything is "chicken") but we did a lot of Greek yogurt, hummus, and peanut butter to get protein in her. She LOVES hummus. Eats it by the spoonful, we even did hummus sandwiches that she devoured. Same thing with Greek yogurt/ Also, cottage cheese has a ton of protein (we use it instead of ricotta in recipes for this reason).
Good call on cottage cheese! I haven't bought that in a while. Maybe I'll get that to do as a side and make lasagna for dinner sometime soon. We've been doing lots of eggs and PB (separately) for lunch, but we all eat the same thing for dinner and I'm getting sick of eggs and PB! ;)

Another alki mommy here! I actually had been tracking my ovulation very carefully because of PCOS and my Dr. office had instructed me of which date I was to take my pee test and report it to the office.  From the info on the box, the date seemed too soon for me to get an accurate read (I think it said that in that time frame, the accuracy was only around 65%) but I did as I was told and peed on the stick and got a negative. I was of course disappointed so I drowned my sorrows in wine. I believe we spent that next weekend binge-watching something I can't remember because I had at least a wine bottle and a half to myself that day. Plus weekday drinking.

Another week and no period, I call my Dr. office (after my BFN I was to report the first day of my period to the office) just to make sure I shouldn't be concerned and the nurse asked me to do another pee test. BFP! When I called back, she said I KNEW IT! very excitedly to which I replied, OMG I'VE BEEN DRINKING A LOT!  She laughed at me and told me we were fine.

    The End.

    P.S. now I want pizza.
  • Update: we ammended our lease and moved into a different apartment building. We took precautions not to transfer any bed bugs. Hoping it works out.
Yay, hope it works out too! Glad you were able to move, totally worth it.
  • I can't even recall the last drink I had. I knew I was trying to get pregnant so I didn't drink at all and even missed out on the open bar at my mom's wedding in June and ended up not getting pregnant that month. Man I am boring!

My shenanigans were the first time I'd had more than two drinks in a sitting in well over a year because DH drinks maybe three times a year. Murphy's law!
  • I know this is totally anecdotal but if it makes you mommas feel better, my mom did the same thing with me (totally smashed the weekend before she got her BFP) and I was still academic scholarshiped for college based on ACTs. The vast majority of FAS cases show a lot of continual boozing not one binge, especially that early

  • I am not much of a drinker either. Maybe I would casually have a drink more often but I'm a "liquor only"person (can't stand wine or beer) so it seems weirder and more difficult. I wish I could appreciate beer and wine. I totally feel like I'm missing out on something that is supposed to be enjoyable.

Last drink I had was Thanksgiving. Had a glass of Riesling with dinner. Before that I think I may have had a beer occasionally here or there? I reached the stage where me getting drunk is actual work and I don't feel like committing to it. It might have been New Years of last year since I got actually drunk drunk... My fiancé has only seen me shitfaced once in the 3+ years we've been together, and I threw up all over our front yard. Only person I've ever been with that actually took care of me while that drunk and not just ignoring it until I was sober enough to clean myself up. He put me in the shower, washed the make up off my face, put me in bed afterwards with a bucket next to the bed, propped me up so I couldn't lay on my back in case I threw up again, and rubbed my back until I cried myself to sleep. The next day he brought me Gatorade and chicken nuggets.

Such a stark difference from the guy I was with from the year before who had someone else take me home from the party we were at, and didn't come home until about 4am. I fell asleep in the bathtub and he came in the house screaming at me for embarrassing him then drained the bathtub and ran cold water on me while yelling at me for not controlling myself. Ugh...
  • Oh man...I love my wine or a good diet coke & rum and typically ended each evening with a glass of wine! Plus, DH and I went out for a crazy night of playing pool and drinks with friends of ours about a week before I reluctantly took a test.  We weren't trying, and I was very consistent with my BC.  I felt awful when I realized how late I was and what that test read...but doc assured me it was too early on to cause damage and, like PP said, it has to be a consistent thing while LO is developing to cause harm.

I mentioned it to my mom and she replied that she drank the most before finding out she was pregnant with my oldest sister, who is scary smart - way smarter than the rest of us, and we're all academic achievers. I worry less now than I did at first, because if the worst should happen I'm not going to love this girl any less and I got very responsible very quickly after I got the BFP.

Someone in Baby Names posted "Storm" as a name on their list for boys. Another poster was pish-poshing the name (as most other posters are) but then suggested Peregrine in her list of 'alternate' names they could consider.

What is the world coming to...

Is that supposed to be like Peregrin Took?
  • I apologize about the pizza cravings I caused you ladies.  :#

Guys, I keep crying whenever I think LO will be here soon. I may begin to freak out by the end of the month.

My doctor is going to yell at me at my appointment tomorrow... I've been losing weight. It's probably just from changing my diet, but I'm also panicking and worried something is wrong with LO's growth. I've lost six lbs since my last doctors appointment.
    I hope everything is ok!
  • I can finally cross one stress off of my list! DH and I just got the call we were approved for our new place at the exact right time we need to move! I was seriously starting to stress. It's bigger and cheaper than what we are paying now and I am so excited!
    That is awesome news! Congrats!

I can't decide if the baby prefers me to sleep on my left or right side.

When I am on my left, he kicks (or punches) like crazy until I shift to the right side. Then he mellows out.

I'm not sure if it's that:

A ) He has so much space on the left and is having a blast, then I'm smudging him into submission when I finally roll over onto my right.

B ) He is fidgeting on the left and finally calm when I turn on to my right.

I wish there was definitive data on what kicks and punches mean! He's conditioning me to do this, but WHY?????
  • Taxes are done, another year of refunds hooray! Between that and DH's next bonus we should have a whole year of daycare costs for DD2 stocked away. At least that's one less thing to stress about :)
Can't wait for our tax refunds. We should have them back in April, woo!

On a different note, I am currently taking the missing class and the lecture is about parking spaces and dimensions, and LO is kicking like crazy. Either he finds this extremely boring or I have a future architect hidden in my belly.

My friend called me concerned when she got her invite because they are not me at all. She was like "I don't want you to freak out, but have you seen what they got?" I already had. I don't like them. But I also don't really care, and it's a party being thrown for me so... C'est la vie! Also my sisters are throwing it, but my mom is doing everything, so I'm not expecting to actually "like" anything about it because we have such different taste in EVERYTHING. Appreciate, and never mention? Yes. Be a bitch and complain to them? Never.

I'm very thankful to have friends who really wanted to know what I wanted, and who offered early on. Another family friend offered later, and while I would be immensely grateful for her to host if I didn't already have something set up, her style is *very* different from mine and it would be a completely different feel.

  • @AEG84 that is adorable!!! That'll have to go in the baby book for sure!
  • @RoseShadow873 The produce section at their grocery store is broken. Also the measuring tape line extends far past the produce in many of the images. Get creative Bump! Compare our children to small animals or household appliances!
  • @Missingchampagne The Ovia app gives you different options for the size comparison. You can pick from the fruit, toys, pastries, or animals.

  • @RoseShadow873 I thought the same about the cucumber, because this kid is definitely bigger than a cucumber. I found another that says 30 weeks means LO is about the size of a jumbo bag of chips.
  • Do I really need to go back to work after the 1 hour GTT? I'm thinking no. I don't mind the way it tasted at all, but I haven't eaten much today and feel like barfing may be on my horizon now. Either that or cheeseburger. Woof.

DID mind the phlebotomist I don't like jabbing my damn arm like she's mad at me. I will be so insanely happy if I don't ever have to get blood drawn by her again. I always get her, even when there's other phlebotomists there.  :s

You should request a different one. There is this particular girl at the local lab when my specialist sends me and she SUCKS! Seriously. My Ob is in the same bldg and the phlemotomist at the OB told me not to let that girl "do me" (lol do me) because she saw what happened to my arm and it had been a week and a half since my blood draw. That's how bad it was. So now, (actually I've been so often that they just know) a different girl does my blood draws. Unless I have an OB appt within a couple of days, in which case I just have them do the draw.
