So I feel like a moron... Apparently the test results that I saw that were "new" were the results from my 1 hour glucose screen... I just got a notification about my 3 hour results and I actually passed. Yay for no GD! Boo that I feel like an idiot.

I already told DH I'm getting a donut and milkshake after my appointment today... Then I'm cutting sugar again on top of watching my carbs still. An indulgence every now and then is ok, but I don't want to pig out just because I'm pregnant. LO needs me to be healthier.

Part of why I feel like a complete idiot is that.

So I may not have GD, but I just found out my STD was denied. So now all of my vacation and sick time gets to go to my maternity leave. Also means we may have to use our tax returns to cover me not working instead of a deposit on a place.

  • @fbanke42, that sucks! Why did it get denied? Just because of your previous stint from the finger?
    image
  • @AEG84 I'm guessing so. DH got the mail for me, so I'll probably know more after I look at the paperwork, but I'm assuming it's that they only have 12 weeks of STD per 12 month period and not 12 weeks STD per calendar year. I was out almost 12 weeks because of my finger. If my job had taken me back when I wanted to go back, this probably wouldn't have been an issue... But they wanted me out of the splint before they'd allow me to go back.

  • And the boob leaking has started. Wonderful. Good thing I just got those reusable breast pads in the mail. Pregnancy is so glamorous. And now I'm mad that the app won't let me add a meme.

Mine feel like they are leaking, but when I look, there's nothing there... I'm either going insane or the milk is pulling a Houdini. Would it be weird to ask DH to sniff my bra and tell me if he smells breastmilk?  :D

I did see some colostrum the other morning, but it was only a drop.

  • Can anyone help me understand the bra situation?  I don't understand what the difference is between a nursing bra and a sleep bra and I tried searching but I didn't find an answer that made sense. I got some bras in the mail today from the VA and they had told me I would get two nursing bras and a sleep bra but one says it's a nursing bra, one looks pretty much the same as the nursing bra but doesn't say what it is and the third one says it's a sports bra and it has a spot for pads to go in but it doesn't look that comfortable or like it has easy boob access for breastfeeding and don't you have to breastfeed at night as well? What is a sleep bra? Are they necessary? I am not sure any of these bras are sleep bras.
  • @RoseShadow873 all I know is nursing bras unhook for boob access. Also, the VA sent you bras??

Yes I know crazy right? They sent them with a breast pump.

@RoseShadow873 A sleep bra usually looks kind-of like a sports bra, but the two "cups" have a crossover section in the middle so they can be pulled to the side for nursing. They are mostly just for your comfort/holding breast pads in place. Not really necessary, but an option. Last time I just slept in my softer / less supportive nursing tanks.

  • I just want to quit today and go back to bed. I had my glucose test this morning and the person who usually draws my blood want there. The other girl who was there stuck me 3 times and couldn't get any blood so they sent me to the hospital down the street. By the time I got there and got registered, they said it had been too long to take my blood so it looks like I've got to do it all over again next week :(

  • You know you're about to become a mom when you walk into a baby shop only intending to buy nursery pads and end up leaving the shop with a huge bag because they had 60% sale on Ergobaby swaddles, Boon Lawn, Lamaze toys and crib sheets :D
Hoping to find a used Emmaljunga stroller this month and I'll officially be done purchasing baby items! Woop woop  B)
totally googled your stroller - beautiful! Totally cements my plan to order a stroller from Europe. So much prettier, more functional and more options than US strollers. I wish it wasn't so, you all know what you're doing with the travel systems over there!  *jealous* :)

Been missing all week, with a vomiting, fevered toddler,  and some crazy nesting that makes meth cleaning look tame. 138 new posts in the random thread, holy crap!

All my sorries! We had the same, but thankfully it turned out to just be a massive double ear infection (so bad that it caused the vomiting, that only lasted for one night).

...I really wish I had that crazy nesting going on. I see all the mess but CAN.NOT muster the energy to do much about it other than run the vacuum, organize the countertops, and wipe down the kitchen counters...I almost cried looking around my house yesterday thinking that it will never ever be clean again. Until we move...then we'll just destroy a new place... :/

(My house isn't that bad, I'm just a perfectionist...a very very tired perfectionist...)

  • My bff who is due in June was suppose to be going to mommycon with me tomorrow but now she has to fly to MO for a funeral tomorrow. :disappointed: So she emailed me her ticket and SO is going to go with me unless my sister is free tomorrow. Honestly, I hope he goes because I want him to go to some of the seminars with me but he is not going to enjoy it one bit, he's not much for crowds.

  • @imrachellea I'm right there with you. Baby's room is immaculate but the rest of the house...not so much. It's hard to keep up with all the dog and cat hair, especially as one is blowing her coat. When she walks I can see the hair falling even 10 minutes after I brush her out. Ugh.

Seriously with you on this. My toddler has been a whole new level of crazy the past couple days and I'm losing it.

Figured out finances since we got paid today.. Only to find out that if I paid my credit card bill then we'd only have $35 to spare for two weeks. Thankfully my mom wants to pay my credit card at the moment. The sooner, the better. I want to close that card account so much.
  • @AEG84 ELEPHANT! :) I totally approve of our shower date twinning since my invitation has elephants too (as do 90% of the items on my registry since they're my favorite)

Oh good. I'm tired of seeing people put themselves and their babies in danger for their own selfish reasons...

I was complaining to DH about a post I saw yesterday and his response was "that is not a thing... That's dangerous. Why would someone do that?"

  • I'm going to spend this horrible gray rainy day the best way possible. In bed, hating everyone.
  • @emgee27 If your doctor tells you not to try to get pregnant again for a certain time frame because of a condition you had your last pregnancy, people should take it seriously. You shouldn't try to get pregnant again because you selfishly want another baby... You have to think about taking care of yourself so that you can heal (most doctors agree that you aren't actually fully healed from birth until about 10-12 months PP) and what that condition could potentially do to a growing baby. My doctor told me to not try to get pregnant again until I was 23/24 months postpartum, but we had an oops at 12 months PP. I'm not sure if the person who posted it intended to get pregnant again as soon as they did, but if they did, it's so incredibly irresponsible to me. My friend is seeing something similar in her TTC board, with a mom who pretty much almost died giving birth to her last child but immidiately started TTC for another as soon as the last kid was out. Maybe this is more of a UO, but I think that having kids too close together is irresponsible if your doctor told you not to get pregnant again for a specific amount of time... I get accidents. I really do. Sometimes things happen and you just have to roll with the punches. If you know that you're putting your life in jeopardy because you want another baby? No. That's so selfish. I wouldn't put my life at risk because I want another kid. My partner NEEDS me alive and healthy. If I die, he's left alone to take care of everything.

  • @fbanke42 maybe I read your original post wrong on the other thread, it was early/ late. But I was totally just agreeing with you - did I read it wrong? I was joking. Like, "yeah,  I would want to smack them too" did the bump mess up and post it on the wrong thread? :/
