My DS was named with my Mom's first initial cause she passed away and DH'S grandmothers name Lee as the middle name.
Now DS wants to name the baby Kevin Stuart or Bob.... he is a little obsessed with Minions right now!
I want to so a "J" name for my grandfather and Uncle and DH'S grandmother. But it cannot be any name that has Jack in it as our last name is Frost.

My best friend was going to name her daughter Jillian. She had a boy so went with Jay instead.
    Other J names could be:
    Boy:
    Jordan
    Joseph
    Jacob
    Jaime
    Jamison / James / Jimmy
    Jason
    Girl:
    Julia / Juliet / Juliana
    Joy
    Jane
    Jean
    Joanna
    June

That's just some ideas! I really like the name 'June' for a girl :) maybe bc I'm a Johnny and June fan.

Jenna is a good name ;) but I'm biased
  • Our DD is Chloe Jane and DS is Elliot Vincent. Both middle names are family names.
We've not discussed names much yet until we know the sex of baby but the top contenders are:
    Girl: Paige Roseanne
    Boy: Oliver

We really struggle agreeing on boys names but with girls we have too many names we like to choose from. Others on the list are Grace, Marina, Tabitha

Big thing for me is that I want a name that people can say in a Latin American country because that's where we live. They sometimes struggle with Chloe
  • @tattoosandlace Lux is hardcore hated on BNB. I fell in love with it while watching Life Unexpected. Later, I found out it was a name in Virgin Suicides, which I have never read or watched. I figure using Lucille, I could get away with using the nickname Lux, without using Lux as a legal name, while still honoring my grandma at the same time with the name Lucille.

I love it. I don't know why my reply button failed. You go, girl!
  • @TattoosandLace, I like Everett Boone!
    @MotherofDucks, Evander... oooh that's nice.
@Natinat6, Liv!a Rose...  I picked a family name for my son's middle name, even though I wasn't crazy about it.  I'm still not crazy about it.... even though it's a family name.  Go with what you like, is my advice.
@austinjl, I don't think the same middle name is too much, as long as you confront the situation and bring it up, rather than let them find out through the grapevine or indirectly.

My question is... If we named a girl Elizabeth Ann T----...  And her initials were "EAT"... is that too weird?
  • @dolewhipper I've been moderately obsessed with Lilou (French version of Lily pronounced Lee-loo).

    Others on our list are:
Boys: Julian (Jules), Finn, Max, Felix. I love Milo, Theo, and Louie but DH not so much. He likes Rex but all I can think of is Empire Records and Rex Manning.
Girls: Dorothea (family name, Dot or Thea for short), Hattie, Violet, Tansy, Iris, Calla, Rosalie. I just realized that the last five are flowers, six if you add Lilou.

Lilou is the name of the Orange haired lady on 5th element, which I totally think is awesome.

    My top names are

    For girls:
    Waverly Jane
    Emerson Grace
    Blythe undecided middle name
    Elloise undecided middle name

    For boys:
    Reid Michael
    Everett Michael
    Warren Michael
    Easton Michael

Michael is my husband and brothers middle name and my fathers first name so were using that as a boys middle nmw. And our last name is Mc- which I find hard to flow things with...

My husband and I are having a terrible time agreeing so we likely won't even come close to choosing until we know what we're having that way we only have to argue one set and not two!

Edited because autocorrect and I can't spell
  • So many Everetts! I love it!

We found out it's a boy so we are going with Everett Gray, most likley. DH doesn't like anything else
  • Well so far the app has given us two names Emmett and Brock but I don't really like Brock all that much and one of my good friends just had a baby yesterday and named it Emmett so back to the drawing board!
  • @RachelT1234 As an Elena, I can give the name a big vote of confidence. It's treated me very well.

I love the name Elena. It works as an easy name that makes sense in Italian too. Which is a plus in my book. If the next one is another lady baby, I'm lobbying hard for that name.

Livia and Elena are sister names I could get behind!
  • @kim1989 we live in South Texas and many people have hard time with our daughters name. It wasn't something I thought about when we named her. This one is going to be just as bad, oh well.

  • Which do you like better...It's ok if you hate them both, I have reasons for the names. Just want to know of the two, which one is best?

    Lane Everett

    Clay Everett

    Lane Everett

    Clay Everett
I like both. The Lane I know is a total sweetheart, so I have "warm fuzzies" about that name (as my H would say). What are your reasons?
  • @hannahmp I like Clay Everette
  • @hannahmp I like Lane Everette better.
  • I like Clayton and the nickname Clay. Clayton is such a nice full name. I would love that for a boy by it sticks out like a sore thumb with our very Italian last name
  • @hannahmp
I vote Clay, but really because my association with Lane is a girl....

Yes! My grandparents are from Italy, and my last name is Italian so Elena works beautifully. I haven't pitched it to H yet, but I hope it'll be a strong contender if we have a girl

  • @hannahmp My vote is for Lane. I went to high school with a Lane, and always thought his name was cool. But I cannot use it because I have two friends that have used Lane for both of their boys in the past year.

  • What do people think of the name Jack is it to plain or sound like a nickname? Our last name is two syllables so I wasn't sure if that sounded okay. Suggestions welcome I'm not totally sold on it

My cousin-in-law named her son Jack... It's adorable.

I really like Jack. It was our go-to boy name before we changed it to Max, another relatively simple name. The name Jack always reminds me of the boy from Hook, which I adore.

Jackson was on my list so jack as a nickname, right up until I realized how many boys had it. I still love the name. Jack was the name of Robbin William's son in Hook, which is one of my favorite movies.

  • @DominiqueU naming a baby is so much harder than I thought! And knowing it's a girl hasn't made it easier. Naming a girl feels like trying to name myself. Nothing sounds right. I keep imagining myself telling people her name and I want to be proud and happy to say it. So far, no names feel that way. I've got names on my maybe list and I think "If I name her so-and-so, then so-and-so will think I've always loved her name, when I never gave her name a second thought." And then I think how can I name my daughter something I don't love?!? ...This is very hard.

  • We've had the same girl name picked out for all our boys which is what we will use for this one, we find out in three weeks but the tech said baby looks girly. The name is Alice Catherine, Catherine being a family name. Dh has an older sister who was adopted, who we have become closer to in the last few years who sort of jokingly said we should name the baby after her. Her name is Julia. I have a lot of Julia's on my side of the family already, but I was thinking of maybe adding in Juliet. Alice Catherine Juliet S (one syllable last name). Too much? Not really honoring her? We have one other child with two middle names so I don't mind using two if they have significance.

  • @HMcDade1 Emerson Grace is our girls name! Grace was my grandmothers name :)
    TTM - EDD 4/23 - Team Green <3
  • We haven't even started with names. Hopefully once we find out the sex we will start. My boys are James Mathieu (goes by Mathieu), Everett William, and Charles Gregory. Boy names will be hard this go around. Girl names have always been damn near impossible for us to agree on. This is going to be interesting for sure.

  • @Lindsayleigh1989 - we are doing Jack and also have a two syllable last name. It's my grandfathers name and I love it for a little boy. Surprised it hasn't come up before now but im not complaining :)

    Boy would be Jack Adrian

    Girl - ? Rosalie
We want to use his grandmothers name (rosa) somehow, but I'm not super into Rose as a first name plus Jack and Rose is very Titanic.
  • Alright, here's an update on my name dilemma. I know you were all waiting anxiously...

We're set on Max Robert for a boy. And we've agreed that if it's a girl, we'll go with Maxine. My husband originally just wanted Max for a girl, but I'm more comfortable with her having a full girl name and then Max as a nickname. I wasn't excited about Maxine initially, but then I started picturing a little chipmunk cheeked girl (what I looked like as a child) named Maxine, and it gets more adorable as a picture it.

The question is... Middle name? Any suggestions? Our last name is three syllables and starts with a U (it's a little rough), so nothing too long. I'm thinking 2 syllables might sound best. Or one, but I can't think of any one syllable girl names that go well.

Are there any family members or close friends on either side that you'd like to honor, or maybe build from there?

  • @Bringmemylongswordho and @PinkLady2015 My sister/best friend/other half is Renee and I was definitely considering Maxine Renee My husband isn't huge on using names of people know, but has pretty much deferred to me on the middle name for a girl since the boy middle name was his. Maybe we'll stick with that unless something else jumps out at us.
  • I'm somewhat jealous of those of you that have had discussions about names. My husband can't be serious about it long enough for us to have a real discussion. Last night, he looked at me and said "if we have a daughter, can we name her U.S.S. Enterprise?"

    Uh, no, husband, we cannot.

    ETA: Gif.

Don't feel bad. With DD, my husband spent the whole pregnancy avoiding the name discussion. We were Team Green and I wanted a set middle name for both sexes, and then two first names for each, and then pick out of the two in the hospital. It wasn't until third Tri that he gave me a (horrible) list of names, half of them I couldn't even pronounce, and half that he was just joking about. I felt like he was ruining any type of naming fun for me. We finally decided to each make a list of our top five names for a boy and girl, swap, circle our favorite two boy and girl names from the other persons list, then we would at least end up with four girl and four boy. Well he couldn't come up with a fifth boy name, he said he hated everything on my list, and I gave up. I was tired of trying to get him to be serious about it, and tired of feeling like I had to nag just to pick one. i figured maybe he would see what I went through during labor; and would just let me pick one. We walked into the hospital with almost 20 names. She was named in ten minutes, first name on his list, middle name not on either list, and I did get to pick the name. Turns out, she looked nothing like any of the names on my list.

This time, he said "I am not discussing names until we are in the delivery room." I am not putting it past him, it's totally something he would do.
