@jen11797 thanks. We are in love with the name. Unusual and pretty is hard to come by in my opinion. I know some people will think it's made up but they can get over it. It predates Olivia by a few centuries I believe.
We are over the moon. It is the only name we seriously considered. If it had been a boy, there would have been a lot of back and forth I think.
@thebigoaktree My kid's name is Ronin. We pronounce it just like the Irish version. He's almost 5 and I still think it's the perfect name for him. Just be forewarned that no matter how you spell it, someone will inevitably call your son "RON-UN"..and it will bother the fuck out of you.
I won't even be surprised, my mom used a different spelling for my first, middle, and last. I just spell everything now before anyone even tries themselves. I'll tell him it's a family tradition. It was a close one between Ronan and Cullen, which poor kid they'd pronounce that Collin.
We went with my name for DS - Jackson Battista - so H's opinion takes priority in naming this LO.
Boy: Henry Lincoln - I'm not the biggest fan of Lincoln. My son's middle name is my great-grandfather's name, and I like the idea of having a name with meaning behind it - not just something we liked the sound of. Neither Henry nor Lincoln are family names. I've suggested Henry Earl as Earl is H's grandfather's name and the name of his favorite uncle, but he nixed that. I've mentioned Henry Harrison before as well, and he didn't immediately shoot it down, so maybe that's still an option. Other names in my family are Silas, William, and Edward.
Girl: Madison Riley - I'm fine with this name, but our niece doesn't like Madison. Using Riley for a middle name would actually be a nod to said niece as that's her middle name as well, so I kind of think if we're trying to honor her, she shouldn't hate the first name. It's the name of her half sister from her estranged father. I'm gunning for Charlotte Riley - I love the idea of calling her Charlie for short. I know some people are opposed to naming girls boys' names, but hopefully a boys' name for a nickname wouldn't be annoying.

WTF???? Norah is an accepted spelling variation of the name... Norha? Yes that would have been a cre8ve spelling. Layla is beautiful! I forgot that one was on my list too. I have a little cousin Layla but that's the only one I know, I love it.

@juliagulia38and @LinzerBinzer- I love the name Mae. It was my maternal grandmother's middle name, and if we are blessed to have more than one girl, it's on the list!
I only have four names on the list so far....Lucille, Eloise, Clara, Hendrick (this is without MH's input, as he doesn't want to discuss names right now). All are family names. But I don't like that Eloise is becoming popular so people can use it as another full name for the nickname Ellie. I am not a fan of the nickname Ellie, and have a feeling if we use Eloise, over time people (or even her!), will start calling her Ellie. Lucille, I am not a huge fan, but I love my grandma with the same name. I am one of those people that believes that if you are going to honor someone, then you need to use their real name and not change it. If we go with Lucille, I would like to call her Lux as a nickname (both names mean "light"). I don't like the nickname Luci/Lucie/Lucy, but she could always go by Lu and Lulu as well. Clara, is starting to becoming too popular for me. I feel like its the go-to name for people that want Claire, but feel it is too popular and are looking for something a little less common. Hendrick is my great-uncle's name. He never had kids of his own, and is such a kind, gentle man. Total sweetheart, and has always loved on all of his nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, and great-great nieces/nephews. He has always gone by the nickname Henk (dutch version of Hank), so if we used Hendrick, we would probably call him Hank (regular spelling) for short.
My husband did mention "Captain" for a boy name. I gave him a hardcore side-eye.
@soberkfell I love the name William! I would use it if it wasn't my little cousin's name... He goes by Will and I really like that! Maybe William Harrison ?! I think it's cute. Also, Madison is a great name that's my full name! I spell it with 2 d's instead. Most people call me Maddie or Madds. Charlotte sounds really nice and I like that it has the ability of a cute nick name - I think Charlie would be fine . Charlie Riley rhymes a lot though - idk if you thought of that and like it or not.

ok; here's my weird train of thought... reading a Scottish Book series, going to a Scottish Festival this weekend, then there's a Medieval Faire coming up. DD is 3, LOVES Merida. I cracked up laughing picturing her in her Merida dress up (complete with toddler-friendly pretend bow and arrow) at the Scottish Festival and/or Medieval Faire. I texted my husband "you're gonna think I'm crazy but what do you think about Merida for a 1st or middle name?" His response, "yup, I think you're crazy." :P I really like Meri as a nickname (or Miri for Miriam, another name I love). Guess he's not going to go for it, though. Hahahaha
ETA: for those that don't know. Merida is the Scottish Disney Princess (kind of an anti-Princess) with crazy, curly hair. Our DD's hair is like that and her personality matches too. The name is a legitimate one meaning "one who has achieved a high place of honor"

We've discussed M.a.y.a. Si-mo-ne (no periods or dashes, obviously) and she's one of those gross looking wannabe models. Ugh. So we're back to the drawing board. It's SO HARD for us to agree on a girl name.
For boys I like Milo and Theo but neither mom or hubs like them but I can't seem to think of other boys names

DH and I have semi-agreed on Victor for a boy and Jolene for a girl (no middle names discussed yet). We have vastly different opinions on names, and we didn't decide DD's name until almost the end of my pregnancy, so the fact that we can somewhat agree on something now is big!
@maddmama I have thought about Charlie and Riley rhyming, but typically when I think of saying a child's middle name, I think of myself using it with their full first name. It's still something I'm considering, though! I don't think I'm going to fight for it until we know if we're having a girl or a boy in a month.
@PhoebeJune1984 I thought you were suggesting Hendrick for a girl since the other three names were girls names, I was so confused, thinking "Well, that's a big jump in style with those three classic, feminine names!" I like Hendrick and think a little Hank would be adorable. Love the family connection.
Lucille, Eloise and Clara are all beautiful. I actually really love the nickname Lux for the full name Lucille. I think it's a really cool sounding nickname, and then to have a classic, strong name backing it up for resumes (or just if one day she is in a professional setting and prefers to have a more traditional name). I also love that it's a family name.
@DobbysSock HAHA! I guess I should have clarified that we were Team Green and I had three girl names and one boy name that I liked (so far). I definitely couldn't picture a little girl named Hendrick!

I like your boys names a lot - can't really go wrong! Henry Harrison is a bit matchy for my taste, and one thing to think about is that I think Harry is actually a relatively common nickname for Henry (I think Prince Harry is actually a Henry) so Henry Harrison makes me think of Harry Harrison. Not sure if a lot of people would make that connection. I love William Harrison.

@PinkLady2015 I adore the name Walter. My husband is extremely iffy about it, although he loved it for our rescue dog that we got a couple of months ago. We were going to name the dog Walter White. But we ended up letting DD pick a name. There is something cute to me, about a little boy named Walter or "Walt".

I don't. My DD wants to name our baby after a TMNT, regardless of sex. I guess that it just depends on the kid's taste in names. If DD's taste matched my taste, then maybe I would consider it.

@DominiqueU I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but I had a hard time actually calling DD her name at first. It felt like it was too... grown up, maybe? for her, or like too big/strong of a name for a little baby. But they're only babies for such a short period of time, maybe try picturing a toddler/teenager/adult (whichever is easiest) with the names instead of a baby? For the record I love DD's name now. I also don't think it's worth worrying about whether they'll love their own names or not, it's only worth worrying about whether their name will disadvantage or embarrass them at some point (I know a guy with first and middle name Jack Daniels, like the alcohol. Not Daniel, Daniels. And another with first name/middle name Jimmy James)
The only other Max name for a girl I can think of is Maxima, but I actually think Maxine is nicer, personally.
@soberkfell I think you'll probably be fine! I'm guessing the Henry/Harry trend is bigger in England than Canada/USA (I'm assuming you're from North America but I could be wrong). Most of the Henry's I know here (not many) go by either just Henry or Hank
@DobbysSock Thanks, I do think that helps a little. I know that I'll end up loving whatever we choose because I'll associate it with our child. I like Maxine more than Maxima too. It just reminds me of a name a character on Saved by the Bell would have. Lol. My husband is set on just plain Max, so we'll see. We don't even know if it's a boy or a girl yet, so I probably shouldn't even worry too much until we find out in February. I have enough irrational things to focus on and worry about for now anyway.
@DominiqueU it is a hard decision! Hopefully once you know the sex it'll be easier to picture and come up with a name. It's true that once the baby comes you mostly associate the name with that child. My mom really didn't like my nephew's name at first because she had a student with that name who she had negative associations with, but she said now that he's here she feels like it fits him and her association is all about him now instead of the student.

Now DS wants to name the baby Kevin Stuart or Bob.... he is a little obsessed with Minions right now! I want to so a "J" name for my grandfather and Uncle and DH'S grandmother. But it cannot be any name that has Jack in it as our last name is Frost.
