Just went on a date night for the first time in forever and of course I slipped and fell on the ice. Didn't land anywhere close to my belly but my knee and hip hurt like crazy. Tomorrow is going to suck. On a positive note my prime rib and ice cream sundae were killer.
Side note is it bad that tonight is the first time we've hired babysitters? We've always relied on grandparents but our new neighborhood has great babysitters.

I think we've paid a babysitter once - my SIL before she married my brother. Now that they're married, she doesn't get paid anymore. Haha. Huge, close family for the win!
Was there a FFFC today? I didn't see one, so I'm putting mine here: I want to go on bedrest just so DH will be forced to help out. I know, logically, that bedrest would be awful. I'd be bored and miserable and it'd be a logistical nightmare with DH's work schedule and our kids, etc. But I have been in so much pain lately and DH always says, "You just have to let me know how to help." But I hate that he can't just figure things out on his own. I hate that he has to be told to empty the dishwasher or give the girls a bath or carry in the groceries for me. And it really bothers me that he's been home on vacation for days and regularly goes into the bedroom to watch TV shows we don't let the girls watch - while they're awake. I never get to just leave them and go do what I want. He figures it's his vacation, he can do what he wants when he wants. When do I get that? Blurg. Rant over.
Hope you all had a great New Year! Here's to the year of our babies!!
Married 7.29.05 :: DD1 5.11.10 :: DD2 1.23.13 :: Baby Boy due 3.13.16!
@mrspepper05 That stinks. Does he follow "honey-do" lists well? (Not sure that my DH would, but that's how I remember what needs to get done.)
Eeek! I got a baby wrap for Christmas and went to watch a video on YouTube for tying it. I'm still intimidated, but one had a newborn testing out the wrap. I'm a STM, but newborns still terrify me. DS was 8lb. when he was born, so he wasn't super duper little. I just look at a squirmy newborn, and my hands get all sweaty. Pregnancy anxiety needs to take a step back.
@bethanynaom exciting! I cannot wait to wrap a squishy newborn again! @mrspepper05 I get what you're saying. I've been really hurting lately (and fighting a damn cold) and yesterday afternoon I was getting us all ready for mass and I got 3 kids dressed and teeth cleaned and hair brushed etc (but not myself) and DH says "we have to go!" I'm trying to get ready and he's asking me what he needs to do. "Dude, shoes and socks on kids please" (isn't this obvious?)! And I keep trying to get ready and then he's back in my way with "where are their socks?" (Same place as always - the kids' sock drawer that hasn't changed in almost 2 years!) and "which shoes?" (JUST PICK SOME IDGAF) and "where is DD's other shoe?" (Omg if I have to tell you every obvious step then it's not really helping me, and idk where the baby carried the other show any more than you do, so I will be doing the same process of looking around. You have clothes on already, so you go on the shoe hunt!) We barely made it to church on time and whole way there he talked about how I just needed to start earlier. What was I doing all day he asks? Just feeling like crap while growing a tiny human, thanks. Argh. Rant. LOL
Seriously if you don't have to pay a babysitter that's awesome. Childcare is freaking expensive. Also it's 2:30 am and I can't sleep. For the last week or so I've gone to bed and will not be tired then I just die all day. Lame
I slept fairly well this week, then last night I never hit a deep sleep. I woke up around every 2 hours or so, and I have to work from 7:30-12:30, then drive 2 hours for our last Christmas with ILs, be social, then drive back home another 2 hours because there's no way in hell we're staying with them and sleeping on an air mattress...I better sleep good tonight!!!
Ds loves being at ils for visits it is so sweet. We are having a big family Hanukkah today since this is the first everyone can get together. Then Star Wars tonight. Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend.
Here's my late FFFC: DD is 2 and we've never hired a babysitter. We also don't live anywhere near family. I just don't trust people enough! We came close once, because I really wanted to go to DH's promotion ceremony (DD was about 6 months), but the lady had to cancel because her son started throwing up. I wasn't even mad. So we just go out when family visits or we visit home. We have been in Arkansas for about a year and a half and I do have one friend that I would trust to watch her, but I haven't asked yet. Watching other people's kids gives me anxiety, so I try not to put that on anyone else but family.
What do you think about all of us having this new years resolution that in March we show all these diet crazed nutsos that we will lose a ton of weight. Like its a guarantee. Until then here's to ice cream sundaes and Oreos.

@ejverre Hahaha! I'm told that DH looked like Chris Farley in high school and would often borrow folks' coats so he could reenact this. I couldn't zip my coat since early November, but then I got a bigger one for Christmas.

Haha yes! I was just looking at my Timehop from 3 years ago, when my resolution was to lose 30 pounds by February. DD was born Jan. 23 and I did indeed lose 30 quick pounds! (I gain a ton and lose it all really quickly.) Can't wait to do it again!

Well, nesting phase 2 has commenced. I tore apart DD's room again and made room for the crib and dresser. I picked up the living room, then after eating and sending out baby shower invites via email (long story) i decided to wash all my bottles and sterilized the nipples, and got them all put into a cupboard, meaning I rearranged half the kitchen and also got the dishes done. Now I'm resting and dh is going to vacuum up when he gets home. Soon I have to bag all the trash and donations so we can take care of them too. For being so far along, I sure did a lot!

I made broccoli cheddar, and ham quiche this morning, before DH even woke up. I'm pretty proud of myself. Now I'm at the laundromat giving our winter comforter its annual wash. Yay for productivity.
I tend to hold on to the baby weight, at least 5 to 10 extra lbs for about 6 months. So I'm going to have to pass on the ice cream, I think, or else it could be more like 15 to 20 extra pounds.
My parents brought me three containers of their homemade chili con queso when they were here so I have had chips and dip for breakfast pretty much every morning since Christmas! I finished the last of it last night though.

Hmmm now that's what I might make for dinner!! Looks yummy!!

Funny you should say this because my NY resolution to lose weight is looking so promising
Now to keep the second one of not getting pregnant next year....
Okay so none of my clothes for and I feel like a whale in everything I wear. I want to buy a new outfit. Anyone know where I can find some ridiculously cheap maternity clothes? I only have 2 months left so I don't wanna she'll out a bunch of money for clothes I may not fit into the next time.

I don't know if you have a Ross near you but they have some maternity stuff sometimes or you could get some cheep dresses or long shirts to pair with leggings. I love love love Ross.
@2goofykids Why not treat yourself to a pretty but simple maternity tshirt or tank top and get a nice open faced cardigan that isn't maternity and a scarf to go with it? That way two of the three are rewearable. Or I find Old Navy tanks/shirts are long enough to cover my bump.

I second Ross. Walmart also seems to have long enough regular shirts. I've bought a few there.
@2goofykids I have gotten a lot of well priced Maternity stuff at Burlington coat factory. They are also a great place for reasonable baby things too. Otherwise i also shop thrift or Salvation Army but when I wanted nice and new Burlington coat factory is really reasonable.
@2goofykids I just got 6 shirts on clearance at Target plus used the extra 20% cartwheel offer. I didn't feel guilty at all spending $7 per shirt on maternity clothes I will only wear a few more weeks. Keep in mind you may wear them for a little while postpartum too.
Ross, target and kohls did the trick! A new pair of cute jeans that actually fit, a couple new shirts and some super fuzzy socks because why not! Thanks for the suggestions ladies!
@jlavo888 Same here. I'm utterly heartbroken for them.
@2goofykids so glad you found some outfits!! Now I'm curious what a Ross store is like.
I did the most indulgent thing I think I've done all pregnancy today. I keep seeing pictures on pinterest of yummy food, so I finally gave in and had DH get me everything I need to make some fabulous appetizers, and *drum roll* a steak and blue cheese iceberg wedge salad. I just finished dinner, and it was FAN FREAKING TASTIC. All the bad things. Blue cheese. Medium rare steak. Tomatoes (ok, so those are only a personal no no because of heartburn). Soooooo stupidly satisfying.
@smushi Ross is one of those stores that carries a little bit of everything. They even carry some name brands like roxy, levi etc. I think they get the overstock items that can't go to their intended stores. Also items that may have been deemed improperly manufacture (like a hem that's of by a few mm but completely unnoticeable) so the items are marked down to a reficulously awesome price. It's the same concept as Burlington, Marshals, TJ Maxx but to me it's always got the best deals. I find the best jackets there for like 20 bucks and jeans for like 14.
So my mom has been bugging me about how to spell our daughters nickname (which she already decided on). I could really give a shit how we spell it becuase I feel like nicknames are things pick up throughout life from different people as verbal, not writen names. I think she has been so crazy about it becuase she doesn't really like the name we chose (Adeline). She has never once refered to the baby by her real name. I really dont care if she doesn't like the name becuase I have always done what I wanted regsrless of what others think but I'm just annoyed that it feels like she is trying to unofficially change our daughters name. She even went so far as to tell me that I better figure it out pretty soon becuase I would need to teach her how to spell it after she is born. To which I responded, "No, I will need to teach her how to spell her REAL name." Anyways I'm probably getting bugged for no reason but so that I don't have to continue being bugged about it what should I go with....Adie, Addy or Addie? To me Adie makes the most sense becuase it matches the spelling of her name but one d looks funny for some reason.
PSA Ross has name brand athletic clothes too. I've gotten Nike and Adides stuff there before.
@JLaVO888 A girl I used to babysit is named Adeline and she goes by her nn spelled Addy. I personally think the one d looks a little off, but it's not my child or my decision! I'd go with Addie. Also your mom knows babies don't learn to write when they pop out the womb right? Sounds to me like she's just anxious and excited and wants everything to be decided.
Today I went to the Y and walked a whopping mile on the treadmill. Then we went bowling with my parents and I was done after two games. I feel like I just did a triathlon or something. So pathetic.
Random thought I'm so ready to not have to DD anymore. It's not that I mind DH drinking or that I miss drinking, I just don't really like driving haha
