  • @red3ye how sweet of her....not. I'm sorry and hope you feel better!

  • I am so bummed. We were supposed to go to the neighbor's for Christmas dinner so I didn't plan to cook anything. Well dh and DS woke up with my stomach bug so I told them we were all going to stay home so we didn't spread the germs. She messaged me back asking if she could at least bring some food over which I said we would gladly accept. I haven't eaten real food in almost 3 days now so I am starving. It's 7:15 and she still hasn't brought anything over and of course all of the restaurants and stores are closed. Looks like another can of soup for me.
  • What an eventful Christmas

So my brother in laws girlfriend is pregnant. It's really not a great situation as they both live with their parents, neither has a job, etc but there will be another baby in 2016 for our family! I'm really upset with how my MIL has handled it though. I made a comment that I think it's great they're keeping the baby (both alive and in their custody) she basically said she wished they weren't doing either. It just made me really sad.

Then MY brother bought his girlfriend a ring for Christmas. She apparently took it as an engagement ring even though he didn't propose. In fairness to her, it was an engagement looking ring. I don't know what came of that drama since we aren't in town. She sent me a snap chat of it and I panicked for a second because we really don't want them to get married. Even though she's the mother of my nephew, I'd rather not have her around forever.

I certainly hope everyone else had a less eventful Christmas!
  • We had a good Christmas despite me being beyond exhausted all day. I was up at 3am christmas morning for NO REASON, and was never able to fall back asleep. So I got up, ate a couple snacks and watched the Christmas Story marathon until my kid woke up at 6. Then I had to drive her down to her father's house. I came home, maybe got a 1/2 hour nap when my husband started "dropping hints" for me to get up because it was time to go to my Ils for dinner (as in he brought my coat, phone, and water bottle all in and laid them next to me, and then kissed me on the forehead to get me up). Dinner itself was good, but the older niece and nephews still act like they did when they were little and try to wrestle each other on the floor. It drives me insane! If they think my baby is going to grow up doing that they have another thing coming! By this point I could barely keep my eyes open and I still had Mimi (DH's step-grandmother) ask me 6 times if i had a baby in my belly (she is very senile) and asking me if it was a boy or girl. She also asked other people because she didn't want to hurt my feelings if i was just gaining weight- which can be considered sweet but with my extreme state of exhaustion it was quite irritating lol.

I got home and I don't even remember if I took a nap or not! Because next thing I know I was wide awake about 7, when dh went to work at 6 and that's when I laid down. If I did nap it wasn't more than 20 minutes.

right now i should still be in bed but I'm still battling the awful constipation and it's keeping me up. I see a trip to Mc Donalds today for some fries (like that's a bad thing?) Because that grease pit will move anything through my system!

  • Wow @SarahFoley725! That is an eventful day! I feel like if they have a child together she has every right to assume any ring would be an engagement ring. He should have gone with earrings or a necklace. How would you even back pedal from that?

Agreed! And he really should have known better than to get her a ring that looks even remotely engagement-like for Christmas. What was she supposed to think?
  • Well this Christmas was my first away from my family, and even though I don't really want to be at my parents for christmas, it was still just a hard day full of trips to the bathroom to cry for a second and get it together. It was good though, DH got the watch he wanted (I just wish it had been me and not his mom who got it for him, stupid budget), and MIL is taking me to get a mani-pedi sometime before baby arrives which is a freaking wonderful present!

My doctors appointment is Monday, and I'm hoping they have my 3-hour glucose test results back by the time I come in - I could really use some peace of mind about what the plan for actually delivering this baby is, because if I have diabetes or if I just need to have a c-section, 38 weeks is now 9 weeks and 6 days away. Oh. My. Gosh.
  • Well, ours went well. Spent time at ILS and then went to my sister's place for my side of the family get-together. Ds got lots of toys and a couple movies so he is having a blast today.
I managed to get either the flue or food poisoning. Spent all night in the bathroom loosing it from both ends. Had planned on going day-after-christmas shopping today with ds but I don't think it is safe for me to be away from a toilet. So cartoons and couch time!
  • TMI train coming through but DH did the do for the first time in probably two weeks last night. I am still SO crampy. It took me hours to fall asleep last night because I was so uncomfortable wth body
  • Is there anything better than the smell of fresh chocolate chip banana bread baking?

So my Christmas was good and filled with tons of family except my poor grandpa is going downhill fast. He slept all day yesterday st my parents' house while christmas wad going on. My boys had a sleepover up there and we got word at 7am that my grandpa fell and had to go to the ER. He's ok but they're trying to make decisions on what to do next.

  • @skruhmin Sorry to hear about your grandpa. Falls are so scary.
  • *hugs* @skruhmin I feel like this happens a lot around the holidays
  • @skruhmin I hope he is doing okay. When my grandmother started to fall with more frequency we tried life alert but she never remembered she had it. We also got her aides towards the end so we could be sure she was safe and someone was always there.

My Christmas was good but my pregnancy body absolutely hates Florida I am so swollen and my legs have been cramping at night, it is just awful.

My mil threw a surprise baby shower it was Co ed and at a driving range (like golf) actually pretty freaking awesome!!! I'll share a picture later it is on DH'S phone so I need to get it

Hope everyone had a merry christmas!!!

  • Did a factory reset on my phone. It has been developing problems and I am trying to save it. Stupid technology, most of my apps quit working
  • I feel so yucky! I've been feeling like crap for a couple days now. Not throwing up, not sick or anything. But I just feel so sluggish and miserable.

Same. Today I've had an upset stomach, but not sick. It has to be something I ate, or just how much I ate yesterday...lol. I actually had a pretty easy first trimester (no MS and minimal nausea) and second (mostly back pain issues) so I was hoping the third wouldn't be too bad. Hoping this sick-feeling isn't a thing for the next ten weeks!!!

  • @skruhmin sorry to hear about your grandpa...sending you hugs!

My mother admitted to me today that she at first was very disappointed when we found out we were having a boy- she was really hoping for another granddaughter. She felt really bad because she saw how excited we were and it crushed her to think she felt that way.

She brought it up because my grandmother is visiting from Utah and mom mentioned something about this being her first grandson to her when really he is not- my stepsister in Utah has a little boy. I guess grandma got upset over that comment but you can't really blame my mother either... She has never met him (again we all live across country from each other) and my stepsister refuses to acknowledge my mom as her stepmother and therefore her child is not my mom's grandson. My stepfather had to set my stepsister straight when my daughter was born because she insisted that dd was NOT his granddaughter. My stepsister is a naive little princess (and she is almost 30) who still thinks my mom ruined her family when in reality my stepfather wanted to do better for his family so he joined the army. His ex wife refused to leave state/family behind so they amicably divorced. He was stationed here at Ft. Drum where he met my mother and married her. My mom had nothing to do with that relationship ending but stepsister was just a baby at the time so she thinks she has it all figured out.

I really feel bad for my mother having to deal with that, when obviously I accepted my stepfather as part of my family ever since I was was 5 years old. I am happy though that she confided in me and now that has taken a new perspective on how to look at my son as her first grandson, she is really excited now too :)

Now that I've rambled lol- maybe I can get some sleep? I've been up since 130 and now it's 3:20. Ugh.

Christmas here has been lovely except I've been battling a cold! Also, I understand the third tri sleeplessness I've been hearing about. Hip pain, back pain, it's tough!

  • Good ole family drama. We are heading home today but the weather is pretty bad so I'm nervous.

    Also has anyone seen @kynbar5
  • Glad everyone is having a good holiday, minus some family drama.

Ugggghhh I got hit with a stomach bug from hell last night, causing me to leave work at 1am. It's now 3pm and I am finally able to keep a bottle of Gatorade down. I can't remember the last time I was so sick, couldn't keep liquids down for 12+ hrs, diarrhea every hour on the hour, low grade fever, headache, body aches. I even thought I was going to have to go in for IV rehydration. Now that I'm keeping fluids down I'm not as concerned.

But just a PSA: wash your hands like crazy, be crazy germ freaks for a while because this shiz is the worst. I'm pretty sure it's this- https://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-norovirus-strain-found-amid-recent-outbreaks-as-peak-season-arrives/ a new strain of norovirus, since it's new people are more susceptible as they don't have antibodies to fight it off.

  • Merry Christmas all!!

We had a quiet one here just my mom, dh and Ds, but it was so nice to stay home and not have to rush around trying to make everyone happy like we usually do. It was so fun for Ds to get up in the Morning and tobopen presents together under our own tree (this was our first Christmas Day in our own house) Then we spent the day playing with his toys and going to the park. Turns out my mom was Not As enthused about the quiet Christmas (I said something about how nice it was to celebrate without traveling all over the place for once and she made an off hand comment about how she thought Christmas was supposed to be about family.. Which put me off for the rest of the night and kind of bummed me out) I want to see my extended family but we have to drive 4 hours to get there, we can't see everyone all at once becaus my mom and dad were divorced and so we have to see everyone in pockets and of course we are expected to drive another 2+ hours once we get there to various family gatherings and it is just a lot. All that being said tomorrow we are traveling up to Canada (5 hours away) to see my siblings on my dad's side of the family. I can't wait to see them and watch Ds run around with his cousins. We are making it a short trip just to see them before coming home so at least there won't be additional travel on top of the 5 hours.

    @skruhmin sorry about your grandpa

Hope everyone else has enjoyed their holiday so far. We won't have internet while up north so I will have some catching up to do when I get back.
  • @Stormiewinter I envy your chill Christmas. We have been driving all over basically nonstop for the past week. We are finally home and I am beat!

LO has been acting super crazy lately. Her movements seriously feel like seizures or spasms. It's such a funny feeling
  • @SarahFoley725 MINE TOO! I was just thinking how it felt weird lately.

So, any STMs wanna share their experiences with after you bring the baby home? How long was it before you felt good enough to leave the house? What did you do that made you feel better when you couldn't leave the house? I just so want to understand what it's going to be like.
  • Good to hear most of you had a nice, lovely and comfortable Christmas (except some familydrama)..Mine was fine too, although i've got the feeling i was eating constantly for the past four days..;)

@skruhmin; hope things are getting better for your family and they will find a way to cope with your granddad in a way which is best for everyone..

@JessKo08;hope you're feeling a little better already...Seems like almost everyone of us at this thread had to deal with a stomachbug last couple of months...bizar

I'm working till wednesday and then we're leaving for a short holiday in the Czeck Republic. My best friends family is from there and have a family home just an hour away from Prague. Going there with our best friend and their two kids (1.5/3.5, our godchildren), we hope for snow so a lot of walking, playing and relaxing. When we come back only five weeks of work till maternity leave...jay...!

  • Happy Holidays, everyone!  I sincerely hope everyone is safe and sound with the insane weather we seem to be having coast to coast.  Our backyard gulley has become a 30ft lake with this weekend's never ending rains.  I spent yesterday listening to the sirens, knowing that every time I heard them, it was most likely a water rescue in progress.  Thankfully we live on high ground!

  • Back to work today!  I have NOTHING to do here.  I'm trying to call to get my next shipment of injections ordered, but I don't have the right phone number for it, and usually they have called me by now but they haven't. So now I'm going from one rep to the next to try to help me get my medicine refilled.  I need it by next week.  So frustrating.
