Has anyone cheated and had a glass of wine with dinner? I did it with my son once, but now my husband flips on me if I bring it up. Sometimes you just need a small glass of wine with dinner And please don't slam me for this because I'm sure others have thought about it I just personally haven't seen it discussed yet lol

My boobs are still so sore and I have a chihuahua who LOVES to walk all over them when I'm laying down. One of these times she's going to get dropped kicked.

I've taken a few sips from my husband's glass during the big family get togethers and I had about a quarter of a glass on hanukkah, just enough for the taste. This may upset some people but if there's one thing I've learned from being pregnant, it's that everyone has an opinion about everything you do/eat/drink but at the end of the day you need to make the decision for yourself and decide what you are comfortable with. I am in no way recommending you "drink as much as you want" but I personally will be occasionally sipping off my husband's wine, that is my choice to make just like it is yours.

My doctor was very adamant about absolutely no alcohol so, while I'd love a glass of wine, I haven't considered it. I just bought some lovely sparkling grape juice to drink in a wine glass for effect.
FASD is real and I wouldnt risk my child brain development on having a sip (or more) of wine. The damage usually cannot be seen for many year after said child is born. I figure if I can't stop drinking for 9 months I have an issue (just said in regards to me). I wouldn't, but if you are informed of the risks and dangers, you do you.

My midwife said a small (emphasis on small) glass of wine occasionally was fine. I had one on Thanksgiving and I plan on having another on Christmas eve. Just enough to taste and enjoy.
For some reason this is acting up but... @Taymiller I appreciate the heads up, I'm not trying to stir things up.
@stellaluna14 I agree. With my son it was 1 small glass of wine and occasional sips of my husband's beer. I would never do more than that, but it DOES cross my mind. I think it's acceptable to wish I could have some wine with dinner. Certain foods (Italian) make me want wine lol
I'm totally going to get myself some sparkling juice! I love that stuff, and I always feel like such a tool for drinking it---but I totally have an excuse now!! ***dancing all the way to Walmart***
We are finally home from the hospital. So good to be home. We didn't get any rest at all between nurses giving meds, checking weight and temps, respiratory therapist coming in every 3-4hrs to do breathing treatments, cpt, and suctioning, and then doing chest Xrays at the crack of dawn. So tired and swollen. Blah. Follow up with our pedi tomorrow.

While I'm not drinking any wine of my own, I have had a sip from DH's twice now when I couldn't stand it. The wine has been the #1 hardest thing as I was quite a wino before we started trying. I wish I were French all the time! But I agree not even sipping is optimal *cries*
Ladies missing wine! You should look into alcohol removed wine. It's a real thing and it really taste like wine and not grape juice! It's really popular in Quebec for pregnant women. I'm pretty sure it's available in the us!

But do you get the nice soothing effects of real wine...?
@Lindsayleigh1989 unfortunately no but I doubt the ladies who are taking 1 or 2 sips are getting it either, it's just a good cheat! And the bottle looks identical so perfect for noisy people if you are not yet announcing!

I like very dry reds and non of the alcohol removed wines even come close :-( Fre has a pretty decent alcohol removed brut champagne that I'm going to drink for New Years, but I am really missing my good reds.
Also, I am a teacher and high school coach. I have gotten more cookies, candies, and baked goods than I know what to do with!!!!! I can't possibly eat all of this!!!!!
I am dying to have eggs benedict... I even tried to convince my OB/GYN that is was okay for me to eat.
.... she still said no
Wait what? Why no eggs bendict? That is our Christmas morning tradition.
Hollandaise is made of raw egg yolks and some doctors tell you to only eat fully cooked eggs because of the possibility of salmonella. Honestly I've never had a problem and I've eaten eggs Benedict twice since becoming pregnant, I trust the restaurants I eat at and I buy eggs from reputable places so I'm personally not worried about it. But my midwife also told me I could have sushi so to each their own.
I love runny eggs in general. I've had scrambled eggs a few times, but I really don't even want eggs unless I can have them with runny yolks. It's a bummer.
Went to my in-laws early for Xmas so we can do real Xmas in our new house for the first time. DH gave me my gift early because he was surprising his mom with the same gift (combined Xmas/60th bday gift split between the 6 kids). You guys, I'm going to see ADELE at Madison Square Garden (with MIL and SIL). They're originally from Brooklyn so his mom will be able to see her BFF on our trip, too. She was so excited and cried. He also gave her the new CD which she didn't have yet but really wanted. It was awesome!
...only issue is I'll have a 2 month old and I plan to breastfeed again. DH said he'll keep baby when I go on trip. I will supplement with Formula if I have to, but I didn't have to start using formula that early with DD and I'm nervous about if the baby will take it well or refuse. Also, I don't think I left DD overnight until she was 2+ years old. This is just nuts to think about!!! Plus you know, pumping and engorged boobs while traveling. But... ADELE!!!

So jealous!! She is kicking her tour off here but on my due date and the day after! I genuinely cried because I had wanted to see her! So excited for you though!
@quartz02 It'll be weird leaving the baby, but I'm sure you'll have fun. And you'll probably have pumped plenty of milk by then since you've got so much advanced notice. I bet you'll barely worry.

I would ignore the heck out of this. But then again... my eggs come from my backyard. And nothing is worse than a hard yolk. Nothing will convince me to cook them through. Last night, I made royal icing for gingerbread cookies. That's raw egg white. I'm not even worried.
I'm getting really tired of people commenting about this board. If you don't like it, go the hell on. I spend my days trying to cover my ass and be nice to people who don't deserve it. I will not be censored on the damn internet. Also, the world we live in is full of diverse people and this board is no different. I feel like folks are trying to create an environment that isn't a reality. Rant over.
The big announcement with DH's family went amazing.... DH's mom literally busted out with " get the fuck out" She never swears, ever, and she did it in the cutest way possible then burst into tears. DH's dad teared up too... Lots of hugs... Got a text from my sister an hour later saying she's not going to visit our parents bc they got in a huge fight. We're supposed to an announce to them tomorrow and now it's sorta crappy given the situation. Ah well...
I personally take all 'no' lists with a grain of salt. While FAS is real, and yes, while there is no set limit/amount, studies have shown that is from 1 of 2 things. 1) binge drinking (several drinks at one time) or 2) some one that drinks 4 plus drinks a week. Enjoying a glass of wine, especially after the embryonic phase has never been connected to FAS. It is just because science can not test amounts and ever one also has a different tolerance. That being said, the thought of drinking wine makes me want to puke.
The whole 'raw eggs', or raw meats is link to different food poisoning. However, most food poisoning is from the external surfaces of food. You are more likely to get food poisoning from a 'bad' steak than from a rare steak. However, ground beef and ground pork is different. Since there is a much large surface area prior to compacting into the patty/link, the risk of food poisoning is much higher (pregnant or not). So those really should be cooked.
Life should be taken in with moderation and a good dose of common sense. Instead of just looking if it is a 'yes' or 'no' food, look at why? Does it make sense? Does that pertain to this situation?
