@Lindsayleigh1989Β Hang in there. I actually am taking a break from Facebook right now and it's partly due to what you said; everyone paints their lives perfectly, whether it's their marriage, children, job, etc. I realized it was making me a jealous person and I just couldn't stand it anymore. Everyone has issues in their marriage but most don't talk about it publicly. Sending you positive vibes - pregnancy is really hard and it definitely puts pressure on a marriage.Β

We had someone do this last week, the child was coughing all over the office. Yuck. It's the same lady though who would pump out in the open in her cubicle while working, so I honestly should not have been surprised.
Hey if you gotta pump you gotta pump. Power to her for feeling comfortable enough to do it wherever. Sick kids in the office, nope. Pumping anywhere, totally acceptable.
Agreed...however, I should have added that she wore nothing but her bra and did it in front of all of her coworkers because she didn't feel like going to the private office they gave her. I'm obviously not against pumping while at work, when appropriate.
Also edited to say, I wish that pumping anywhere whenever would be acceptable for where I work but there are policies and regulations that do not allow this. So, in theory while I agree with you, it just doesn't work that way IRL.

Okay that is so inappropriate borderline voyerism if you ask me. If you have been given a private area use it! Also pumping in your bra open in the workplace is just so wrong! Cover up in my opinion or use a private area

Relationships are hard. I have been with my partner for 15+ years. I can tell you that it's a roller coaster. There will be peaks and valleys along the way. Looking back there were massive patches of dysfunction where we might not have liked eachother much, but there was always love. I feel there are times that people don't stick it out, and wait for the good. Tv, movies and social media portray relationships as being always happy, and easy. Where the partner is perfect and there is always passion. Marriage is not some fairy tale where everything is roses and breakfast in bed. If love is there, find a way, work at it, communicate, and try to remember fb is just a glimpse into peoples lives, the part they want to share. Biggest thing I'm still trying to learn is that an argument is about reaching an understanding, not winning, though pregnancy has made me a tad shorter temper than usual ( I have told him such and therefore ignores some of my outbursts) good luck. May there always be love.

To me pumping is the same as breastfeeding. We shouldn't shame people for providing for their child.
I am consumed with the thought that the baby just stopped growing. I am trying to physically stay calm with breathing exercises and relaxing poses, but my mind is a mess.

Just curious- are there laws protecting pumping like we have for breastfeeding? My office has a pumping room with couches and curtains and a little kitchenette that pumping women get a key card for- looks like a great set up to me so I'll be using that and enjoying the extra breaks! I am planning to try to pump during the commute with one of those pumping bras like some women have mentioned. I have a 40 minute commute each way so sounds like a perfect time for pumping and I probably won't wear a cover in the car (meh, the windows are pretty darkly tinted and I'm not remotely modest) but I guess if it's against the law I'd need to.

I'm not shaming nor providing my opinion in the matter. Workplaces must be in compliance with laws, rules and regulations pertaining to providing suitable established breaks and an area to pump. Employees in return must follow such guidelines.
Also, breast feeding is not equivalent pumping. When a baby is hungry they need fed; pumping is not under normal circumstances something that has to be done immediately and can be scheduled intermittently throughout the day. Plus, those pumps are loud and work cannot be done if that thing is on randomly throughout the day.
Rather than insinuating that I'm shaming those of whom I will be in similar situations to, please read the federal regulations on pumping and what organizations are required to offer. If you disagree with them, file a congressional or something but I urge everyone here to become knowledgeable of the rules. Companies elect not to abide by them sometimes and being armed with factual information on this topic will help you; opinions, however, will not. Please know your rights.
I am not here to fight. As an EPer, pumping is the only way I could feed my child. I just would hope you keep an open mind to the other way some woman have to feed their children. Yes pumps are annoying and I would have MUCH rather whipped out a boob and fed my kid but that wasn't an option for me. Yes I did feel embarrassed to pull out my pump in odd places and pump but I did it for my child. I think if we stop making such a big deal out of it it wouldn't be so embarrassing.
Eta: When you EP you can't stop your life for pumping so in order to ever leave the house you have to pump outside the home.
@noelietrex - I totally pumped while driving using the hands free, boobs out. No one really noticed.
@Lindsayleigh1989 I heard a saying that I always try to think of so I don't let fb get me down. "Don't compare your life to someone else's highlight reel." And that is all fb is, trust me it is farore annoying when people air the bad stuff there anyway, it's like you're in their house while they're fighting, so awkward.
I agree that you should be able to provide or feed your child whenever, but if there are options available to you that allow you to do it in privacy I would consider that a better option and not shaming at all.

@noelietrex I have the same plan, as long as someone else is driving! (I cant multi task like that..). I honestly can't speak to any laws on breastfeeding, from what I understand that is all protected. Regarding pumping while at work, they are required to provide you eith designated breaks, a private location that locks, along with other things like a chair, shelf, etc. Mine provides a wellness room with a sofa and fridge, which will be nice. They can't tell you to just pump in a restroom for example, unfortunately I see that happen a lot.
@Taymiller My first child was a micropreemie. Which meant EPing. I couldn't ever just skip a session. And pumping for 20 minute every 2 hours and then having to clean everything and put it away. Then pulling it out to set back up. It's like I had an hour of free time between being a slave to the Symphony. But it had to be done. So many people don't get a chance to breastfeed at all because their milk dries up while pumping and I didn't want that to be me. If I left the house (aside from going to the NICU) that thing came with me. Comic Con. Parties. My husband's workplace.... People came over to my house? Hope they don't mind seeing me pump.
I hate pumping. Lol. I did it for all of my kids, though. I ended up giving the milk I pumped with my last to a woman who didn't make enough milk to exclusively breastfeed. Turns out, I don't leave my kids enough to need it of they dont end up with an extended hospital stay. I just am paranoid.
You guys, I've had brown discharge happening for a few days and it's driving me a little crazy. I know that spotting is common but I keep comparing everything to my first pregnancy. Go away old blood!!

EPing is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I did it for 10.5 months and then stopped because I had enough stored to have my son breastfed for a year. That pump went everywhere with me! I am internet high fiving you for EPing, it is hard work!
@Lindsayleigh1989 I agree with PP about love languages but also wanted to recommend the book And Baby Makes Three by the Gottmans. It's a marriage focused book that helps prepare for the newest member of your family. DH and I still benefit from reading that book when it comes to how our arguing style has evolved. Marriage is hard! Hope you'll look into it, it's worth the read.
Thanks everyone I so appreciate with the support and suggestions I know my love languages but I think I should start to learn his more and teach him mine.

Didn't see a thread for non-awful symptoms, so... here.
Are anyone else's nipples super sensitive... in a good way? Don't get me wrong, my boobs are sore as hell, and DH knows and has been mostly hands-off. But I've discovered that my nipples themselves have become instant on-switches for arousal. I mean, damn. Totally worth the soreness. I've never heard of this being a symptom. Is my body just going crazy or is this a thing?
MrsRo731 I'm so there with you! I always feel naseous and like I either want to punch someone or cry and just ugh I want to get to the better part already, you're not alone love
Does any one else have a feeling they are having twins? I already had an ultrasound and only saw one and saw the heartbeat (@6 weeks) I just have this feeling that I'm having twins. Am I crazy?!

I've been having this feeling too except I haven't seen our little bean yet. I have to wait until the 23rd to find out.
Ok. So this is a GOOD thing... but I'm totally weirded out that I haven't had any bleeding. Lol. I always bleed. I'm like THE person always telling friends not to worry. "A little bleeding is normal. I always bleed." And this time.... just nothing. I can't help but wonder if I did something different. I'm sure it is just random.

Just curious, have you ever pumped before? If so, your experience seems to have been a hell of a lot different than mine. I had to pump at the times my kid would normally be nursing or else my supply would drop. It wasn't something I could schedule at my leisure. It was a PITA. If I waited 20 minutes longer than I should have my boobs decided to go all Old Faithful and explode. If I did it too soon I didn't make enough milk to replace the frozen milk she was drinking at home.
I also went through periods where my body only responded to the pump if I took my bra completely off. I did most of it in my car, not out in the open in an office, but you know what? I had to do what worked. My kid had to eat. So idgaf who liked how it happened.
ok so mini selfish rant time. I had my 1st dr. appointment on Monday. We went over medical history and due to me having a Β brain malformation (it doesn't affect me AT ALL, it was actually found by accident), my Dr. wants me to see the high risk Dr. which is fine whatever, means a super long ultra sound which is cool. But I also had a blood clot at 17, so I have to now do nightly blood thinner injections. While out loud im saying if it is what I need to do for the baby ok fine no big deal. In my mind im saying ugh crap I hate sticking myself with things. My Dr. also gave me NO information on giving myself shots, I realize that I had a blood clot at 17 and was on these same shots but that was 10 years ago, and I was hospitalized for 2 weeks and so I never gave them to myself. I ended up watching a youtube video. Now I have to go back in 4 weeks for an early glucose test due to being overweight... why didnt I listen and loose weight before getting pregnant?
basically im whining and trying to stay off google because the first thing I read said that if you are on blood thinners during your pregnancy you cant get an epidural and I don't even want to think about that right now.Β
I want eggnog so bad right now it's crazy. But I have no car, and due to epilepsy no license, so I'm screwed until I can beg my fiancee to pick some up when he gets out of work.
@CaseySue07 - I feel the same way about Christmas which is SO not like me. DH had to bring the tree up and I felt guilty so I helped to set it up. He is normally the scroogey one! I also did most of my Christmas shopping on Amazon...making my Prime membership worth it's weight in gold.
@MotherofDucks - Like you, I haven't had any bleeding at all. But I read about it every single day here, so I weirdly have started to consider it "normal" and that I am not normal because I haven't had any. I can't wait to go to the doctor on Tuesday and just get it over with and get a confirmation that there is a baby in there!
@mckcak23 stop stressing about the epidural and blood thinner. You need to be off levonox 24h or heparin 12h in order to have the epidural. They can switch you to heparin around the end of pregnancy because there's a medication they can give you to stop the effect of the heparin (the rescue med) and allows epidural. You should call the nurse at your OBGYN office to have a tutorial with the shots, I'm sure they won't mind having you come in and guide you. Hang in there
I took this one year ago. I was 38.5wks and I knew with everything in me that he was going to make his appearance the next day just like his brothers even though I had zero signs of labor. I was right.
