LO'S doctor said if he's still eating at night at 9 months, it's because he's "been trained to do so and will need some training to help him stop." But for now, she says it's ok that he's waking pretty frequently to eat. So much for that six month marker?!
That's pretty depressing, but kind of aligns with stories I've read on TB... seems like plenty of ladies start to see change around 7-9 months. (I've been scouring for success stories)
Oh really?! I am actually glad to hear this. Because people just looooove to tell me about how their six year old still doesn't sleep and how I will probably never sleep again. We are still in the 4+ wake ups camp (though he only eats once or twice, usually). Bah!
Why do people need to do the whole, "just you wait.." thing?
My babies slept really good, through the night pretty much. Until the 4 month sleep regression, which is still going at 6 months. (I'm ready to sleep train, but they are teething and have one cold after another, so we can't find a time they aren't sick).
BUT, when they were sleeping, and people would ask how it was going, I always answered, "they actually sleep really well. Hopefully that continues." And I'd get the head shake, the "tsk tsk," and the "just wait..."

Why are people like that???
I can't imagine going through this with twins!
Yeah, that's us too... in addition to the regressions and leaps, we're either traveling, have houseguests or LO has a cold or teething. There just hasn't been a good chunk of time to sleep train...though I'm don't get the feeling LO is quite ready. (hence my scouring, because I too was so tired of hearing that we better do it at six months, or else we're screwed)
I try not to whine IRL... I'm either going to get unwelcome advice or, like the other day, the colleague who was like "oh, my grandbaby just slept 12 hours finally, at four months!!! Before that it was only 6 hour stretches." Please stop talking.

He settles her in her home as a happy mother of children, praise the Lord! (Psalms 113:9)
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understand, will guard your heart and mind in Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:7)
@423ang Because people are dicks. It also drives me crazy. So I do it to my new - parent friends but in a positive way. "I know she's not sleeping yet, but just wait until she's babbling and can say mama!"
LO on 3 nights in a row with only one night wakening! She'll be 7 months on Christmas. I just take things day by day, night by night. DH helps out when I'm just too tired. I basically have no expectations at this point so when we have good nights it's a great surprise & bad nights are just another night, oh well. Is nice to see some progress with her though. Now maybe my body will start to get on a better schedule again too.
She doesn't even cuddle when she's tired. She is such a wiggle worm and will only settle once she's in her crib. She literally fusses, I put her in her crib and she turns her head towards her thumb and 5 seconds later goes to sleep. JUST CUDDLE WITH ME PLEASE!!!!

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
My dude will cuddle for two seconds, if I'm lucky He's way to active to have time for that mess. We've been trying to transition out of his swaddle and it's been a nightmare. We're stuck in this in between of hellish no sleep no matter what he's in. It's day three, so I'm praying for time to at least lay down tonight.
We're teething bad over here and was up twice with full on cries. I didn't mind the snuggling to calm her down but man, How long does this go on for until they finally pop out!?

It honestly just depends on your baby and which tooth is coming in. Basically my first was teething from 6 month to two years with little breaks in between. So yeah forrrevvvverrrrr!
We finally got LO to sleep back into his crib! He was in my bed for a few weeks and a couple of nights ago I woke up to a cry and when I turned baby face was covered with my blanket! Oh hell no! So I said no more bed for you Mr.!
With that being said, he still waking up to feed in the MOTN!
@slr1229I've read it's quite different for each baby, although I noticed teething was the hardest roughly the week before the first tooth popped, then it continued for a week or so afterwards off and on as it continued to pop. Now we have two teeth and have been taking a much enjoyed break from teething for the past few weeks, hopefully it continues for a while.
Often the only way we were able to help babe get some sleep was to give him some Tylenol, otherwise he was up all night crying as well. What helped us get through the days were cuddles, finger chewing and the right teething toy (apparently babies can prefer different textures, ours loved rubber), but most of all.. distraction. Hope your little one is feeling better soon!
LO must really want to meet Santa. She has barely slept and it's almost 3am. She's on day 4 of her first cold and she is refusing the crib. She'll only sleep in my arms in the glider. Not cool because then I can't sleep. Ahhh.
^^same boat! LO slept from 8 to 1130, then decided that was enough. She has been awake since then. Screaming on and off. It's now 445. Merry Christmas. I joked with DH that we should just go ahead and open presents.
Past two nights she's been up 2-3x crying her head off. It's a hurting kind of cry too. Had to nurse her to calm her down and quickly made her fall back asleep, but few hours later at it again. No fever, blaming the teething or carrots making her tummy feel bad.

Ditto here. A new tooth appeared today, the poor bug. In hindsight, I wish I'd given him Tylenol when I heard the cry... But I wasn't convinced it wasn't gas from too many "solids."
And tears at 9:15. Was asleep for 2 hours. She used to be s great sleeper. Is there a 6 month sleep regression? She skipped over the 4 month one, so maybe she's getting it now? I feel like a bad parent, I really don't know what's making her wake up. We settle her down, once we lay her back in crib she freaks out. I've had to comfort nurse her each time and I don't like doing that. Parenting IS hard!

No way can we be bad parents just because some fool baby won't sleep. No. Nuh uh. I refuse to believe that! That kid has everything he needs to sleep, except the personality to do it.
Hang in there! Babies be babies. Try not to stress it. This will pass. (She says to herself...)
@virginiaunicorn11 thanks for the encouragement! I know I'm not a bad Mom, just wish I knew what bothered her! We were up again at 1230 and then 4. Almost routine to her old nighttime eating habits back in the 2-3 month old days. We gave her a small small portion of baby Tylenol at midnight. We'll see how tonight goes!
My kid sleeps great now. We're also cosleeping and I end up sleeping with my boob hanging out after he wakes up once so he ends up having a freaking all night buffet. I also don't feel it's super safe, although now that he's bigger he pushes me to the edge of the bed. I feel like bad mom for letting all this happen, but at the end of the day, we needed sleep. He will not sleep in his crib for more than 2 hours at a time.
There IS a 6 month sleep regression AND a major leap. We are going through it right now too!! We also skipped the 4 month regression and I'm convinced we are paying for it now!
And we're already crying 1.5 hours into bedtime. I thought we just got out of a leap and next one isn't until 33 weeks? Good lord!
Edit to add: and every time I lay her down after settling her, she flips out. "No momma don't put me back down alone!" Is what I believe she's thinking. Argh
@amccoy129 - I do that from about 3:00 onwards, most nights. It's not bad at all. Like you said, it's a great way for you to get some sleep while meeting LO's needs. Don't stress. It won't last forever.
@slr1229 Your bad nights sound like our good nights, lol. Seriously though! I know every baby is different, and if this isn't normal for your kid, it sucks. Did the Tylenol help?
LO is trending toward better sleep. Not great, but better. We end most nights with bed-sharing in his room... And when he wakes around 5:00, I bring him back to bed with me and DH for some more bed sharing til about 7:30. It's way better than getting up with him at 5:00. We all win!
Whoever said solids before bed would help him sleep longer... Yeah, no. 6 months of eager anticipation right out the window!
He will sort it out one day. (Right?! RIGHT?!... Right.)
Just wanted to say hang in there to the moms who are having night challenges with their LOs. My LO was 7 months on Christmas Day & I will say we're noticing improvements especially over the last week. Here's hoping you all get some longer stretches in soon!

Eta: attempt #1 - asleep in crib at 7:15 as per usual.
She woke up at 7:40 and *still* isn't asleep
Back down at 11:15. She woke up at 11:45 but I let her babble herself back to sleep.
Up at 330, back down at 5. Up at 7, this time I moved her to our bed which is what I usually do at her 7am wake up and we dozed until 9.
She spent the whole night in her crib, so 3 wake ups and a crib night, in calling this a win.

She only naps on her belly too now and instead of her cute wake ups where she used to just babble in her crib she screams bloody murder. GAH.
Parenting is hard, yo.
We are awake as well.....all.... The.... Time.

Anyway, I feel your pain!
