LO is sick & definitely not sleeping as well as normal. I really don't have to worry about if I should be feeding her when she wakes anymore. If she's not hungry she bites me now. Nice huh? I am sick myself but slowly on the mend. Still I'm so congested with a sinus headache nighttime is sucking again tonight.
@virginiaunicorn11 I'm so sorry. Seriously. You are doing everything right. There is no rhyme or reason why some babies are shit sleepers and others aren't.
Thank you. I didn't know how badly I needed to hear that. I feel like a huge failure and like it's all my fault.
We are all sick at my house, flu symptoms. Seems like LO is feeling better after starting antibiotics Sat but DH & I are not. My cough woke LO during the 4 am feed. Now she thinks it's time to play, talking to herself in her crib. Hopefully she'll fall asleep on her own. Poor thing's voice is hoarse from coughing. My head is killing me. Sleep is not easy when you are stuffy, coughing & in pain, add parenting to that & it is very hard especially when both parents are equally sick.
Ferber method in full force tonight! Naps sucked! Put LO to bed at 8:00pm, 50 minutes of CIO. Looks like he sleeping for now..... We'll see how the rest of the night goes! Mentally prepared for little sleep.also, sleeping without the Merlin tonight!
ETA: He woke up after 10 min and threw up. So changed him real quick, changed the crib sheet and put him back down. I went to the bathroom and cried. This is hard!
Possibly we were the last holdouts, but we've transitioned from the Merlin. It actually went pretty well. I started out putting her in a sleep sack for her morning nap, which is the most reliable one. The first time she was totally confused, and the next few naps were pretty short, but then she got back to her normal hour and a half. That took about a week then I put her in the sleep sack for her afternoon naps, which are usually pretty dicey anyway. After a week of that she got the sleep sack at night too. She sleeps the same as always in it (terribly!) but the good thing is that she sleeps an hour later in the morning. I think when she starts stirring she can just get comfortable and fall asleep again as opposed to feeling stuck like she did in the Merlin. She also wakes up happy and talkative instead of crying immediately.
Just chiming in with my experience... i used sleep sacks at the beginning, and then around 4 months (i think, seems so long ago) I ended up transitioning him out of them, and found he actually slept much better. The sleep sacks seemed to be prohibiting him from moving his legs as much as he wanted in order to get comfortable. He routinely flips to sleep on his belly now. So right now he sleeps in just a pair of footed pajamas. We keep his room temp at 71 and then he sleeps with a humidifier on and his ceiling fan on.
We're slowly improving from the transition without the Merlin. I just did it cold turkey, and had him in footed sleep n plays. I only use a sleep sack if I'm concerned about warmth and want the extra layer, but that's only been a few times now that I've got my heating situation sorted out. He wakes up less overnight now, and is still waking up earlier than he did with the merlin, but we're getting closer back to 'normal'. Its been about 3 weeks. He is a much more active sleeper now, tho. He transits across his crib over the course of the night. I have to put him down with his feet at one end, and by the morning his head will be at the other end.
Dear baby girl, I don't have enough coffee in the house to compensate for you waking up every 3 hours and this makes me very sad . Sincerely and with love, Your overtired mama
@upandbelow my LO has been waking every 3 hours again the past week (one night she slept 8 straight-of course that was the night DH was going to take!) I am so exhausted! I feel your pain.

Mine decided to wake every 2 hours Friday night & Saturday night. I don't know what is going on. It's terrible. I actually called out sick today, my first sick day since maternity leave. I just couldn't. Seriously.
We had a rough night too. I am going to blame it on teething. I really think that may be it. He is aggressively chewing on his toys now, so we will see. gums felt a little puffy. He went down super easy then was up about every 2 hours after that, he popped up and look at the monitor and cried each time. Poor LO.
I'm sure I'll be here through next year. DH is having friends in town this weekend. 3 nights right across from the nursery. I'll be surprised if they aren't running to a hotel the first morning. hes been waking up 3 times a night the past week.
LO has also been waking every 2-3 hours, except for last night when she only woke twice. She's been teething and this morning I saw both teeth had poked through her gums. I think that's why she did better last night. Hopefully she sleeps well again tonight.
The last few nights have been particularly rough. LO woke every 2 hours last Night. She has a cold which I'm sure is part of it. I can't fall asleep bc I feel like I am on edge just waiting for her to wake up. Of course im up late the night she ends up sleeping soundly. Last night by this time LO had already woke several times & had to be nursed or comforted back to sleep. A lot of other things on my mind too which doesnt help Just venting. Maybe tonight will be a good night!? I'm hoping at least.

Well I guess I just needed to vent. For the first time ever she slept 7-7 with only one wake up at 2! Still incredibly tired from the previous week but thank God I got some sleep last night. My husband goes on call for a week Starting Friday & has to do all snow removal for his property. Predicting a big snow storm next week so I'm going to be solo a lot.
LO has been screaming for HOURS and I'm about to lose my mind. The only thing that calms him is a bath and I know he's hungry but he won't eat. He just needs to poop!!!

I found a baby organic solid pouch with a mixture of prunes, apples and somethings else and boy did that get things moving for LO
Yeah I need to find something like that to keep on hand in times of need! i don't think he would have even taken it though bc he was refusing to eat. He went the whole night without eating which he has never ever done. My mom said he had a huge poop this morning so I hope he's feeling better! He was the most pitiful thing ever last night.
We just had two episodes of constipation. One while traveling. It's not fun. I was up at 4am googling remedies. I finally gave in and gave her a warm bath at 5, which allowed her to pass some gas. DH went on a prune and juice run at 5:30. Rectal stimulation gave us moderate results. For us I think the culprit was the mum mum teething biscuits and cereal puffs. Both are rice based and the leading culprits for constipation are apples, bananas and rice cereals. The prunes eventually worked their magic.
Nights still suck around here. She has yet to STTN. Our best is having her only wake up once. That's still pretty rare. It's usually 2-3 times. It doesn't help that she's sick right now and has a bad cough.
I still don't know why LO cries in the middle of the night when she does. I always say it's teething or congestion. She would only sleep upright on me and minute laid her down, tears.
I have been having some rough nights lately too. LO has been sick, so he has trouble settling himself for the night, and then he has at least 1 wakeup, sometimes 2. On the bright side all the going up and down of the stairs is allowing me to burn a few extra calories.
LO has a cold & 3 upper teeth coming in. Poor thing is miserable. I'm on a steroid for an upper respiratory infection that won't quit. Between the med keeping me up, my coughing fits & LO im not sure how much of any sleep I will get tonight.

Hope your LO adjusts soon to night sleep without the merlin.

hope you LO feels better soon @slr1229 I'm sure your instincts are right and it's likely discomfort from congestion or teething
hes been waking up twice a night.... 1 am and 5 am this week like clockwork.
every time I do a wake up.... I can't get back to sleep due to dh snoring and combo of insomnia...... Bah.
How's the other place?
