Hoping all sick LOs are better and that all babies stay put for a longer while. Question for you ladies my son gave me his cold, now I have a cough from hell I've been doing saline and vap-o-rub just wondering if any of you have done Delsyum?? It's on my safe list from my doctor but I hate taking any medicine while pregnant but I hardly slept last night and it hurts to cough. Or if you all have any better suggestions I'll take them, I'm calling my doctor in the morning but hoping to get some relief tonight. TIA

IMHO over the counter cough suppressants are a joke. The cough suppressant dextromethorphan in delsyum is actually category C. I drink hot green tea with honey and lemon and even take a tablespoon of straight honey when I have a cough. Studies actually show honey is just as effective if not more, for calming a cough than OTC cough suppressants. Maybe slip yourself a unisom or Benadryl, before bed to help you sleep. Humidifiers are great too, if you have one. Feel better!

  • @JessKo08 I second honey. It works a treat and tastes delicious. :) (It also helps with nausea.)

  • I have a bad tooth ache. It needs pulled I know, but it has never hurt this bad, let alone this long. Dh is bringing me home some oral jel to try. Anyone know if you can have a tooth pulled and the pain stuff for it, while pregnant?

I would say if it's getting infected it's probably healthier to get it pulled than let the infection get worse.

  • @SarahFoley725 I was iffy on doing a tour but we ended up doing one last Saturday and I'm so glad we did. Not only did we learn exactly what happens when we get there, who can visit us in which room and when, and the hospitals procedures for birth (skin to skin, delayed cord cutting, delayed bath, and immediate breast feeding - all things I was happy to hear!), but we were with two other couples that were both having their second child this time and DH and I got to hear a little about how their first birth experiences were. One dad brought up how involved he was in the birth by holding his wife's leg and DH had no idea how involved he could have to be. The nurse flat out said that she yells at the dads if they're not paying attention to the mom (provided they can handle the gory things) lol. So as a FTM I'm really happy that we went through with the tour.

They might not pull it since you're pregnant, but if it's infected it needs to be treated or it will abscess, become swollen, gross, and possibly dangerous if left for too long. If infected they will give you oral antibiotics and pain relievers and make sure both are safe for baby. I know in the ER where I work we give pregnant women oxycodone usually. When the infection clears up you feel so much better.

  • Spent the night in L&D with severe cramping. Luckily, no signs of early labor and baby is ok. Waiting on more lab results to figure out what's causing them. :(

STOP IT! This new trend has to stop. Feel better and STAY PUT BABY!
I second this!! Between a few of the Feb moms already having their babies and all the scares on this board I'm getting more and more nervous each week myself!! I get that the babies are apparently as excited to meet the parents as they are but stay inside as long as possible!!! Hoping everything is okay @soxfan9968 !! Thoughts and prayers your way.

Edit because it's early and I tagged the wrong username...

Parenting tip: all of your registries need to have a little green machine, or some other kind of carpet cleaner. Very useful for cleaning up baby puke.

Honestly never would have thought of this...thanks from a FTM!

  • I agree-  ALL BABIES STAY PUT!!!

Every week I go to the doctor and he gives me something else to look out for and it all scares the crap out of me!  I'm trying really hard not to worry but after a pre-term labor its all I think about now that I'm getting closer to my last delivery mark.

@soxfan9968 I hope they get it figured out and there's no more cramping! @SarahFoley725 Enjoy your time with your dad and I hope this replacement is better than the last! @charley15 This time you'll suffer all the way past the edd like I have to! ;):)

  • @soxfan9968 So sorry you had such a long night :( Did the cramping calm down or still going?  I hope they have some news for you soon!
  • Thanks guys! Cramping has eased quite a bit, no pre-term labor, no kidney infection, or appendicitis. She's a bit unsure about bladder infection results. So they're starting me on antibiotics as soon as they get the results from the repeat test because I do have a very high white blood cell count (higher than what she considers normal in someone pregnant).

  • Last night, I dreamed that 3 opossums got into our house. They were crawling over my girls in bed, getting into our food, and chewing holes in our walls. DH finally killed them by smashing them to smithereens with a gun (instead of just shooting them?). So . . . there's that to brighten your morning! Lol.

Yesterday was terrible between DD ruining my mom's chromebook and the awful headache I had all day. Today, I've resigned myself to buying a new chromebook (and being thankful it was just that and not a laptop or something more expensive!) and am feeling tons better. Going to focus on having a fun, Christmas-filled day with my girls today! Hot chocolate, Christmas music, wrapping presents, Christmas crafts, etc.

Hope y'all have great days, and everyone's babies stay put!

  • @soxfan9968 - I hope you feel better soon and that baby stays put!!

I had my Dr. appointment yesterday afternoon. Everything looked good! And I passed my glucose test!! I may or may not have celebrated with an obscenely large amount of sugary foods last night....lol...

  • @soxfan9968 I'm so sorry, what a scary night that must have been. Glad the tests they've run have been mostly clear, and hoping the antibiotics help with your white blood count.

@mrspepper05 That's a horrifying dream! I dreamt that I was looking for a new house (inexplicably a mirror of our former town home in the city) and found 6 sleeping horses in the basement along with 12 chickens. I decided to take it and keep the menagerie. Shocking, I know. Woke up *really* wanting a horse.

Obviously tell your babies they aren't allowed out before mine.... seriously that's rude like cutting in line...

Having a little "pamper" afternoon of eyebrow waxing, haircut, starbucks, eye appt and pho for date night.... she flattens the top with the iron too much but it's so nice to have gotten the weight off!

  • All these babies need to stay put for a few more months. I just went to the doctor since I hadn't felt baby move in 24 hours she's fine, apparently you really need to piss her off to get her to move. My cough is virial bronchitis unless I get a fever or start coughing crap up I need to let it run its course. Need to invest in some poise pads since all this coughing is making me loose control of my bladder.
  • @lightrox embrace the poise.  Actually Always makes some good ones too.  I've been wearing them, absolute lifesavers (you don't know true embarrassment til you pee your pants in front of third graders).

  • The word lingering made me think of the fact that my friends bridal shower is a lingerie shower. That seems so awkward to me....like her mom and aunts will be there.
like.. you have to buy lingerie for her? or..
I guess so. It has her sizes on the invitation. I can think of about 10000 things I'd rather due at 32 weeks than watch my friend open a bunch of bras and panties in an awkward setting
I can think of about 10,000 things I'd rather do than put my lingerie sizes on a printed invitation.
Honestly with my 34J boobs, let them try and find me bras.  I would honestly cry (happy tears) if a box of bras showed up at my doorstep in my size.  I have been cycling between the same two $50 dollar bras for the last 2 years I desperately need news ones, but it just costs too much.

  • Stay put babies!

I looked in the mirror this morning and all I could notice is how horrible and unkempt my hair looks. I so need a trim but I know it'll be back this way in a couple weeks. Curse my stringy, blonde hair!
  • @ecwk I just need you to know that I cracked myself up just now thinking about you wanting your kids close together. There's a thread about Irish twins and I was like LOL THAT WOULD BE BASICALLY LITERALLY TRUE
  • Just read the reviews with mama @bntfroggie some of the stuff is no good, but the toys seem ok. My sister ordered a purse and it seems to be doing ok.

My day has sucked from the moment I got up. Just wanna go back to bed and ignore everything and everyone.
