Had my first ultrasound on Monday (whoo) and baby is measuring 1 week ahead - they'll probably adjust my due date from 7/15 to 7/8. The tech made a comment we may have a July 4th baby - which would be pretty funny since DD's bday is Christmas Eve. When I told the tech that, she made a comment about 'poor thing' that DD's bday is Christmas Eve. I absolutely HATE when people make comments about her bday. Would I pick that as her bday? No, but there's nothing I can change about it. We try to make it a special day for her and I know one day she'll probably really not like it. Ugh just hate rude comments! Rant over
@MrsRo731 one of my best friends is due 12/23 with her first child, of course she is over the moon excited... she was in Trader Joes the other day and a woman stopped her to ask her the due date, when she shared that it was the 23rd, the woman launched into an entire speech/diatribe about how awful Christmas birthdays were and how much work it was going to be as a parent to make sure she had separate wrapping paper for birthday than Christmas, make sure you have a non-holiday themed birthday party, etc. etc. of course my friend was very taken back... she was like, well we are excited no matter what day he/she chooses to arrive!!
My sisters birthday is also on Christmas day - of course she doesn't find it ideal (the worst was her 21st Birthday and she couldn't go anywhere to have her first "legal" drink) but its not like that's something to be disappointed about!
@MsBeachNJ - I got comments throughout the whole pregnancy commenting on having her at Christmas time. It made me very punchy lol. I can feel for your friend! As far as your sister, I can see how her 21st would be difficult, too. I'm guessing she got used to it just like my DD will; I can't help but feel a little bad for her but there's nothing I could've done. She came when she wanted to come!
@MrsRo731 I have a friend who has a Christmas eve birthday. And her husband is Christmas day.
And I'm sure you daughter feels special regardless of having a holiday birthday. Or maybe more because of it. Who better to share your birthday with than Jesus, right? Haha
I hope someone sees this and (kindly) replies within the next hour...
I'm a fashion idiot and not a girly girl so I'm pretty clueless when it comes to some clothing things with my 9-month-old daughter. Her Christmas dress came with a diaper cover, she doesn't need to wear it if she's wearing tights, right? And if she should wear it, does it go over or under the tights? Aaahhh I can't believe I'm asking this on the Internet (my mom hasn't replied and we have to leave soon).

don't feel bad...none of this makes any sense to me... i'd probably be putting this into a youtube search engine
I had my first appointment yesterday and it was kind of boring. My office doesn't do an ultrasound until the NT scan in January and they don't do any confirmatory blood work. Just the urine pregnancy test I took at home was enough for them to schedule all my appointments! It feels so weird that they're taking my word for it. I just wanted some proof that this is not a hysterical pregnancy, but I'm basically in the same situation after my appointment that I was in prior to it. I'll have labs drawn next week for routine STDs and a prenatal panel. The NP tried to get a heartbeat with the doppler (abdominal) but was unable to find anything...still too early. I'm surprisingly super laid back about all of this but it just feels weird! Guess I'll be looking forward to mid-january for more testing!
@MrsRo713 My DD was due 2/15. Everyone kept saying how exciting it would be to have a Valentine's baby. She ended up being born 2/11. It's weird how depending on the holiday people have different reactions.

My birthday is 2/12 - had some valentine's-themed parties, but I never felt like my birthday was overshadowed by a holiday. It's only moreso a problem when you get older if you take issue with your SO lumping your birthday and valentine's gifts together. I guess people think Christmas-time is a less desirable time for a birthday because the holiday is already so centered around gifts for children?

I agree with you. The makes sense. My birthday is 6/15 and occasionally it falls on Father's Day. My dad would always take me out just the two of us on those birthdays and then we had a family party that night. I was a complete daddy's girl though so I absolutely loved that one on one time.
Okay, so I'm ten weeks, and my stomach is def. bigger than it was before (whether just bloating or otherwise, it doesn't change at all even after the bathroom). It's just recently gotten pretty hard, which feels weird in itself, but it's make it so hard for me to bend in anyway! I can't crouch, or bend over to pick something up, or sit on the sofa with my knees pulled up. I've always been very thin, so I'm not sure if it's just being two sizes larger or that my "hardened belly" is the issue. I know this seems like a weird problem to have, but it really is so foreign to me.
I remember being very hesitant to wear maternity clothes with my first pregnancy. I'm only 10 weeks but I just dug out my maternity clothes bin and maternity pants are just as glorious as I remember! I can't wait to wear zipperless pants to work tomorrow. (Just in time to overeat at the holiday party LOL... Gotta love that stretch panel!)
We just booked a trip to Disneyland in March! DH has a conference there so we turned it into a vacation. It sucks that I can't ride any of the fun rides but I am still super excited!
You guys. Forever 21 was having an extra 50% off of clearance sale today. I bought a sweater poncho situation that is basically a knit blanket with arm holes. FOR THREE DOLLARS. I also bought maxi dress for two dollars and a robe - like sweater for three dollars. I am so comfy. I may live in this poncho until I give birth haha.
Last day and last final right now... Come on 12:00. I'm about ready to stab my eyeballs out! And I'm super hungry, but physically I feel SO full. What's with that?!
We just got our pictures back from the photographer and I am in love with this one! And yes I am aware that this is being very attention whorey, but it is too cute not to share.
So mine is a little bit of an AW... First let me just say I have NO desire to see the Star Wars movie. I have only seen one other one and I fell asleep watching it BUT my husband is taking an advancement test for work and he has been stressed and worried so I scored us some tickets to see it tonight! I feel like an awesome wife that's drenched in awesome sauce. I can't wait to surprise him!
We are having a lovely night in the ER. My back pain got to the breaking point. Baby looks good though so that is great. Everyone is at a loss as to why my back is giving me such hell. Murph man has been a champ here, it is now 4 hours past his bedtime, good thing he took a super long nap today.
@Taymiller hope everything is okay, and your back starts feeling better soon.
Is anyone else worried about daycare already? I work 3 12's (nights), and hubby works the norm 9-5... But my schedule changes every week with me working (typically) every third weekend. I don't want to have to pay for daycare 3 days a week on the weeks that I work weekends, and I'm not even sure if they'd allow me to change up the days I bring baby every week. FTM here, so this is all new and concerning for my type A brain. I know I need someone to watch baby for the mornings I get home so that I can get *some* sleep during the day, but we don't know anyone who could and I'm sooooo uncomfortable with the whole in-house daycare from strangers thing. These thoughts are all-consuming, it's awful.

End rant.
