My LO is such a happy guy! Almost never cries (unless dad accidentally scares him) has been sttn since 12 weeks, sleeps consistently from 8-7. He puts himself to sleep now in his crib, which is so exciting! Thinks the dogs are hysterical and laughs every time they make eye contact with him. Loves to cuddle and hug. Starting to sit on his own, no teeth yet but a drool machine. I don't think we're anywhere near crawling and he's only rolled a couple times, but that's ok! ill take my happy laughing baby any day!
Being pregnant with # 2 sure makes me nervous im going to get a monster next time around!
I never, ever get tired of people telling me how cute LO is. And I love carrying him facing out in the carrier - watching people smile and try not to stare. Babies bring so much joy!

He settles her in her home as a happy mother of children, praise the Lord! (Psalms 113:9)
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understand, will guard your heart and mind in Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:7)
My guy has started saying "mamamamama"! Guys. This is the best. He seems to associate that sound with me, because when he sees me he starts going. Not quite a 'word' yet, but I'm so excited.
LO uses her hands to explore my face while she eats. I generally hold her hand most of the time, but I will allow her to gently explore at least once a feeding. She usually end up trying to stick her hands in my mouth, which is why I've started holding hands. Her sweet touch is so much better than the boob squeezing sessions I used to get with her during the last stage.

This is my theory: If you make noises that sound like words, you're talking. I mean, that's the loose definition right?
So according to my theory, my baby girl has been saying "Mama" since she was about 2 1/2 months old. DH laughs at me every time I say this but I have her on camera saying it clear as day! The other night my mom was holding her and when I walked back into the room she was crying and saying very clearly "Mamaaaa! Mommyyyyyy!" She stopped and smiled the moment I walked into the room. Genius baby?
@messymolly08 wow....it sounds like your baby is gifted... Have you discussed this with your pediatrician.... He will probably be really excited to hear she is talking at 2.5 months... Let us know how it goes!

My pediatrician would probably laugh harder than my DH does! But that's okay; as long as I hear it, I'm happy
@messymolly08 Just don't think too hard about the probable origins of the word "mama" and your theory totally works! Keep on keeping on mama, you make me smile, and I'm a total scrooge.
Now my LO can't say a word but he makes perfectly placed fart noises to express his disapproval of things we are discussing. Way more advanced than talking or sign language. Its the baby version of sophisticated swearing.
Thanks for the thread Virginia! It started to become uncomfortable posting positive things ...(lately more than normal)... Don't know if more people are struggling than happy or what! My little guy is such a delight, sleeps like a champ and is so cute...more so each day. And same as Sammy?! Wth my guy already is on all fours rocking and inch worming himself around on his tummy.. Too soon to be mobile!!! Not ready at all. I'm back at work and we are house hunting, so I haven't been able to bump as much, hope all you beotches are doing well
I'm all of the dwarfs rolled into one right now. Sleepy...check Happy....check Grumpy (because I'm sleepy)....check Dopey (because I'm sleepy)....check Sneezy (because I have a preschooler)..check Bashful (bc of my post preg body)..check Doc (bc I have to fix all the outchies)...check
Tonight LO smiled and stared me in the eye while he peed all over the changing table. Then he blew a raspberry at me when he was done. BOOM. Baby genius! ;-)
LO finally rolled in both directions (left and right) from belly to back during her tummy time session tonight. She usually goes only to the right. She's also started arching her back and twisting while I carry her because she wants to see where we are going. It makes it awkward to hold her now. I'm hoping this passes soon. We've also entered the adorable pterodactyl phase. Her new vocals make me smile every time. ❤️
He finally rolled over this morning! I was getting him dressed and the carrier was in the floor and there was a little lion toy clipped to the handle, he saw it and rolled onto his left side and onto his tummy! First tooth on Veterans Day and rolled over the first time on Thanksgiving. Thanks for making these firsts easy to remember!
LO is definitely going through a leap. It's so cool to watch her start to master things and start new ones. We've entered the screeching phase, keeping a beat with her foot or hand (aka constantly kicking one foot or smacking me with her hand), and very loudly vocalizing her dislike for certain things. She's now rolling both directions with ease and intent. She's sitting up for longer periods of time (avg 30 sec) and prefers to stand and bounce on my lap vs sit. With this comes inconsistent naps, increased fussiness or frustration, being more clingy, and shitty sleep. (Just so you know it's not all unicorn farts and rainbows over here.
LO let me pull her up from sitting to standing today while I held only her hands! She was laying on her back and I was just going to pull her up from laying to sitting, but once she got to sitting, she planted her feet like she wanted to stand too! It was so cute, she started laughing when she did it like she was excited to be doing something new She's not supposed to grow this fast...!
LO has started laughing at his own farts (which smell like death). He also sat up unassisted for the first time today for about 20 seconds. I was so excited until... wait for it... he farted and lost his balance laughing.
I'm really trying to focus on the positive since I have a tendency to fall into depression easily. I am thankful for this thread bc I can brag about LO & not feel bad about it! Had her 6 month appt today & she is becoming quite a tall girl just like I thought. In the last 2 months she has gone from 50% to 90% in length and from 40% to 50% in weight. It's no wonder she still wakes 2-3 x's a night to nurse. She was born 3 weeks early & started out 12% for length & weight so she's had to catch up a bit. DH & I are not little people. My best brag is the pediatrician said developmentally she is more like a 9 month old than a 6 month old. My little smartie!
@Sammy_K - so exciting! But I'm going to pretend I didn't read that. We still have so much babyproofing and carpet cleaning to do, definitely not ready for a crawler
@cienna99- Yay for such good news and validation of all your hard work nursing!

LO made it the full hour today in the childcare at the yoga studio! He is usually sitting and cuddling with the lady at the front desk when I get out of class, but not today! He sat up and had fun according to the babysitter...whom I love! I was so proud!
He also is just a happy guy who loves blowing bubbles and laughing now. I love him so much!
This week LO sat up unassisted for the first time (she's 6.5 months) Like on Sunday she couldn't and then on Monday.... Bam! Life will be a little easier not having to sit behind her every time she wants to bang on her toy piano
LO has distinct conversations with the dog. 1 sided obviously but she is SO animated and talks so differently to him than anyone else. She also can sit up for minutes on end while reaching and playing with other toys.

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
lo has slept through the night since she was 8 weeks old, last night she slept from 9:30-7. That is a regular thing for her. She is also in like the 85% for weight and 95% for height. She is a smiley bubbly baby who rarely cries only when you shove a boob in her face. She is almost never fussy, she can also sort of crawl backyards. I know I'm just super duper lucky and that it is not this awesome parenting. But heck yea it's nice to brag. I really keep the sleep stuff to myself because people always ask if I'm tired which is yes but mostly because I have an inadequate respect for tomorrow and like tv.

Side note - for some reason your profile pic is a pic of me...confusing much??
Eta: the bump sucks and it's fixed itself! Also my brag - we've been working on putting LO down 'drowsy but awake. Before she would wake herself up and fuss until you picked her up to rock her to sleep, but twice now I've been able to put her down, hold her hand and hush her to sleep! Baby steps count as progress!
LO slept 9 hours straight last night and probably would have kept going if it weren't for me! She woke up and rolled around trying to fall asleep again and then started to cry a little. I probably could have let her fall back asleep on her own, but after about 10 minutes I went in and nursed her to help her fall back asleep for 3 more hours. Still, a 9 hour stretch and then only 1 wake up was amazing.
She has also started to scoot backwards on her back by pushing off with her legs. Now if only she'd get this crawling thing down.
My girl is on the border of crawling. she rocks on knees and ocassionally slides forward or backwards. It cracks me up, she looks like she's concentrating SO hard

DS said "mo" first, which was baby speak for more. He was a really good eater.

Dad is 5'11" and I'm only 5'3"! He'll be almost half my length in no time, I think I'm in trouble.
I'm so proud.
