Re: Pregnancy Symptoms, Concerns, Questions & Complaints (Sore Boobs, Nausea, Exhaustion, Bleeding, etc)

  • @meganmarie1087 It's actually not recommened that in 3rd trimester even late 2nd not to sleep long periods on your back. The extra pressure from uterus and baby isn't pressing so much on a nerve but your vena cava vein which runs blood from heart down to your legs. The extra pressure cuts off some of your blood flow.

  • I am so tired today.  I'm really not sleeping well at night, getting up in the middle of the night wide awake... I'm unable to get comfortable, and when I finally do get comfy, I feel a kick to my bladder and I have to pee.  Then the process starts all over again.  Its getting to where I can barely keep my eyes open here at work, but I can't even rest when I get home.  Dishes need to be done, my kid needs help with her homework, I need to cook/EAT, then I get told I'm throwing a hissy fit when I'm pissy because I'm soo tired!  I don't know if I can hold out until the weekend to sleep all day.  I'm going to the doctor's this afternoon so I will see what they suggest I can try.  This going on little sleep totally sucks.

I'm kind of frustrated today because I went for a regular appt--but I didn't get my usual doctor. It was a different person--a nurse practitioner. At my 20 week ultrasound my placenta was just barely too close to the cervix (not covering, not even touching) and the ultrasound tech said not to worry and that it would likely resolve itself no problem by the time I delivered. She gave me NO restrictions, and my regular doctor never mentioned it, so I didn't think anything of it.

Now all of a sudden this nurse practitioner is telling me I should be on vaginal rest for the next two months until they do another ultrasound to check the placenta's position. What?! But that ultrasound was a month ago, and I've been having sex this whole time (several times a week) and have had no issues or bleeding whatsoever. Suddenly now I'm supposed to be on vaginal rest??

I know I should do what they say, but I'm feeling so upset right now. I love sex, and if it was that big of a deal wouldn't they have told me not to do it from the very beginning? :(

I would get your doctor's opinion on that one.  They definitely didn't put me on pelvic rest with DS1 when the placenta was close and it moved on its own.

  • Is anyone super out of breath ugh all I do Is walk upstairs carrying DS and im soo tired just from that .. Even standing in the kitchen cooking etc too long I get tired so quick and have to sit down.
I was. Then I started walking every day. At first I started out with 30 minute walks. Each day, I upped my game. 45 minutes then 1 hour. Since I wasn't willing to take longer than an hour to "work out", I decided to just walk faster instead. I started with 2 miles. Walked 2 miles every day for a couple weeks. Then 3. Now, I can do 4 miles in an hour....but that's walking as fast as my legs will carry me for an hour!I love it!
It made me feel LOADS better. But it didn't seem to help me with the steps. So last week I added a trip down and up the steps between each mile. I can trudge up and down my steps a few times now without panting.

ALSO!!! I almost forgot to mention that I was iron deficient. The doctor told me that it would make me out of breath easily. So I've been taking iron supplements. No more fatigue.

Yeah, I have an appointment with my usual one 2 weeks from now... Maybe I'll just be careful about sex for the next two weeks and then see what they say.

I also googled about restrictions with a low lying placenta and it seems like different people are told all kinds of different things, from no lifting to bed rest to no orgasms or just no restrictions at all. It seems to vary a lot!

  • @jstanton0822 thanks I'll have to try walking more and ask dr about iron when I go next time :)

  • I've been experiencing a fun new version of lightning crotch over the last few days. I get the lightening, but after sitting for a while, when I stand it feels like the actual bone is aching with the occasional shooting pain. Think this is just the spreading starting and/or weight from the baby/uterus? It sucks.

  • @cmerribury most likely.  And I've found pelvic pain gets worse with subsequent pregnancies.

  • @cmerribury yes. Like @skruhmin said, I'd definitely agree it gets worse and happens sooner each time too. The other day (thank God we were home) I got a really sharp one and actually stopped, gasped and grabbed myself haha. Was my husband alarmed? Indeed. Was I incredibly happy we were in our room and none of the kids saw? Oh yes! I wouldn't have been able to explain that one! Lol

  • Thanks ladies. I mean, not really thank you because it sucks, but thanks for reassuring me. I don't remember this with my son (which was 5 years ago, so maybe that's why). I remember the achey hips, but never the shooting vag pain. Sigh...pregnancy is SOOOO elegant!

  • Talk to me about gas pains. I have this intense, sharp pain under my left hip bone that has been there since 10 am. It feels like a trapped gas bubble, but I've taken two gas-x over the past 7 hours and it hasn't helped at all. I feel OK if I'm sitting or lying still, but anytime I move - and especially when I stand straight up - the pain is agonizing. Just gas or do you think I should be concerned?

Doesn't sound like gas....I don't know of any organs over there that would cause issues though.  Does it feel muscular or joint related at all?

  • Definitely not my joint. Mayyyybe muscular? Although it's more sharp than like a sore/pulled muscle. Some of my other Internet research suggests RLP, but I'm a pro at RLP and this is different. Something else said maybe ovarian cyst. Would that make sense during pregnancy?

  • You'd think that would happen more in first trimester, but I don't know.  If it was your groin, I'd say definitely RLP, but not for hours.  Maybe a call into a nurse's line??

  • Sorry, not much help. Belly pain can honestly be hundreds of different things. The fact that you describe the pain as agonizing, is concerning to me. If it's tolerable I'd wait and call your docs office in the AM unless they're still open. Otherwise head in if the pain is severe. Are you constipated? That can cause LLQ pain. Another way to help relieve gas pains is to get on your hands and knees with your butt in the air and rock back and forth. Good luck, like I said belly pain is hard figure out.

I just got legitimately scared. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be giving birth to the next Chewbacca. I've always gotten terrible heartburn in the 3rd tri and always had very hairy babies but I'm having last-month-of-pregnancy-just-ate-23-spicy-tacos heartburn. What did I eat you ask? A freaking bowl of cereal. Seriously child?
:( no bueno.  Both of my boys were very hairy and I had heartburn bad with them.  This one hasn't been too bad...I think I'm going to give birth to Elmer Fudd.

  • Well I'm feeling a lot better this morning. I definitely still have a twinge of pain, but it's way better, so I think it was just a stubborn gas bubble. Glad I didn't go to the ER and have them tell me, "Uh, you have gas, girl." Lol. Thanks for the advice, y'all!

Haha well I'll take that embarrassment for you. I went to the doctor one day because of horrible lower abdomen pain. Doctor had me lay on my back, as soon as he put his hand on my abdomen to feel, he looked up at me, kind of smirked and said "You need to poop. I'll prescribe you a laxative if you need". Yep. That was fun

Enough iron in your diet?  Does your prenatal have iron?  Lacking that can really cause you to tire super fast.

This sounds similar to (assumed) gas pain I've had during this pregnancy on a few separate occasions, though mine was the entire lower portion of my abdomen. I've spent whole days on the couch, with no relief until it finally starts to pass. My doctor just told me to take miralax to try to help clean everything out. Lol They didn't seem concerned.
  • Back pain? I've only recently had terrible back pain and I find it impossible to get to sleep at night at night, much less stay asleep-sometimes not even because of back pain, but because I feel so large and so restricted because I have to sleep on my side. Any sleeping suggestions??

  • So I've been battling a pinched nerve in my groin area, (lateral femoral nerve), for a few years. I finally got it checked out at around 15 weeks and there's nothing they can do with me being pregnant (pain and anti inflammatory meds- which I won't take right now). But The more weight I put on the worse the pain is, I walk with almost a permanent limp. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Just looking for some relief until I see my doctor again.

I do not have a pregnancy pillow because I had already spent so much on my body pillow. Would a pregnancy pillow make a huge difference?

  • I have three lovely new symptoms to share.

    1. Apparently I have a mild umbilical hernia going on. It just feels like pressure behind my belly button and theres a little bulge above it. I ordered something called a "bellybra" that supposedly might take some pressure off, but I'm worried about it getting worse since I have 15 more weeks to go. Apparently theres no treatment other than surgery, if necessary, after birth.

    2. Yesterday we did a ton of walking/standing at a parade and when I got home my labia was achy feeling on one side. When I felt it, it feels lumpy, so I think its vericose veins :( Definitely going to have the doc check it out when I go back. It felt fine this morning until I exercised (walking a mile) and then its been aching all day since. Yay for spending sunday holding ice on my crotch!

    3. Headaches. They came out of nowhere and I've been getting them on and off for the past 3-4 days now. Weird.

I love my Snoogle. I invested in one around week 12 of my first pregnancy. The moment I got my positive test I pulled it right back out. I am a wild sleeper (back half the night and stomach the other half with a million rolls in between) so it is such a pain in the butt it keeps me on my left side. The way I get all wrapped up in it gives me lower back support too. I pair a really soft fluffy feather pillow with it. Imo if you plan on having subsequent pregnancies it might be worth a shot. If this is your last I'd just wait it out.

    Edit: typing is hard.

I'm with you on #2, it sucks!  I'm actually jealous that yours didn't start until just now!  Mine are super sore and achy starting first thing when I get up every morning, although I do have bad vericose veins to begin with.  BUT in good news, I've had this with pregnancies 2,3 &4 and so far (**knocks on wood**) the vaginal/labia ones go away after birth.  My legs never go back to looking normal from the vericose veins, but my labia do.  Although it is quite the distrubing sight right now!

I have an aversion to eating right now. Every single food item seems disgusting to me right now. I got some naked juice and I'm trying to drink it for some form of nutrition but it gives me insane heartburn.
