I have two boys already Cameron Frederick and Scott Daniel....we just found out we are having a little girl and I feel like I have had her name picked out forever....Elena Rose
I have always loved the name Penelope (nn Nelly) for a girl. Need a short "b" middle name.. i love brynn but husband doesnt.
For a boy, I am thinking Jackson Leo. The only thing that has me second guessing is my husband's name is zach and i just hear myself confusing "jack" and "zach" for the rest of my life. Other strong sounding J names?
We've been having a difficult time with this for sure. My background is Arabic and hubby is Hispanic so I would ideally like to find names that incorporate both our cultures but also fit into American culture. So so hard!!
DH also has a Latino background so once we knew it was a boy he started looking at MLB rosters. Technically DS is named after Felix Hernandez
I wanted something that could also work in French since I speak French. So it can be done!
This time around we're decided on: Ogden Roman (middle name derived from Chester which means a roman settlement. My grandpa was Chester but it's not the best name IMO)
We have a few top names per sex, but until we know if its a boy or a girl we aren't really looking at names too too much.
But I have a question..
For girls we both love the name Brooke. I am starting to really LOVE Natalie now too (and DH likes it too!)
One of the girls on my team that I work closely with is Natalie. Would it be weird to pick this as a name? I feel a bit iffy about it.
Another girl I work with is Brooke but we don't work too closely together and that doesn't bother me at all...
I LOVE Brooke! My mom said I named all my dolls Brooke. If this LO is a girl, her middle name will be Brooke.
If we were to have a boy, I want it to be named Fritz. However, it is my boss' name. I have a really awesome boss that I have worked with/for the last thirteen years and I have no problem naming my baby after him, but DH thinks it will be weird and will not allow it.
ETA: DH likes my boss too and looks up to him. He just doesn't want people to think we are infatuated with my boss by naming our child after him.
@LadySamLady It is NOT lame, it is awesome. I did make the immediate association, but I grew up on Bewitched reruns. I think most people under 30 might not immediately see it, and children her age or even the babysitter likely would have no clue.
As for our LO, I am team green, DH is not, but we still have a few weeks before we will be able to find out. We've had our girl name picked out for a while. It's Eden Destiny, I think I may let my Mom play around with the spelling of the middle name. She loves that stuff, my sister and I are living proof (Erikka and Stefanee).
Boy names are still a topic of debate. I'm trying to nail one down before he finds out what we're having. Since he wants to know and I don't, MIL suggested we name the baby Eden regardless of sex, but I don't like it for a boy. DH is going to have to deal. For a boy I like the names, Evan, Ethan & Elijah. He likes Aiden, but we'd have to find a way to spell it with an E (initials have to be EDY because DH, #1 Son and I all have those initials), which is going to look crazy and be mispronounced all over the place. May steal Declan from @Nicbert1214 for the middle name. P.S. HILARIOUS that it's too Irish for your BF.
I'm thinking Levi William - I already have an Ella Kate. I really like Rowan as a first name and Rhett (like Rhett Butler) as a middle (not together) but can't convince my DH on either.
What is the most commonly used names where you are from? Here it seems Sky/Skyla is very popular. Or anything Eco/Green. And one boy is actually called Eko.
Help us out with a girl name dilemma...we have a boy name all set to go, and middle name for a girl, but are at a dead end on girl first names.
Girl middle name is Margaret. I like Olivia and Sophia, except they are too popular for our taste. We do prefer traditional names over "trendy." And...go!
We've been having a difficult time with this for sure. My background is Arabic and hubby is Hispanic so I would ideally like to find names that incorporate both our cultures but also fit into American culture. So so hard!!
My hubby is Arabic! Why don't you look at some names that have versions in Arabic and Latin? We are thinking Simon, which would be easy name to translate the pronunciation for the family to call him the Arabic version.
Both my SO and my dad (neither of whom keep up with trends so this does not factor into their choice) independently chose the name Jack. I have always loved that name.
Ugh. Why does it have to be the #1 most common name in North Amerixa right now? Damn you, SOA for popularizing Jax which likely lead to this.
I've finally got the courage to share my name ideas haha. My SO and I have agreed on these names: James Landon for a boy. James (unfortunately as popular as it is) is my father's name. I've liked the name Landon for a boy since I was about 14. Cecilia Selene for a girl. We like the name Cecilia because it's similar to my middle name (Cicily) and Saint Cecilia is the patroness saint of musicians. (SO has been playing guitar for like 25 years and it's very important to him). Selene... it sounds pretty and it's the name of the Greek goddess of the moon. Cool because I like anything that has to do with goddesses, and SO lived in Greece as a child. Sorry for all the details xP
Don't know whether this LO is a girl or boy, but we are so stuck on boy names! DH turns down everything I suggest. He just proposed Booker. What are your thoughts?
@Luxani I LOVE Cecilia! It would be a top choice if my last name didn't start with S (too many SSSSS sounds).
@lionstigersbears I think Booker is cool, I'm in to it! I find boys names to be easier than girls, what names have been vetoed so far? Do you like Hudson? (Booker feels similar to Hudson to me for some reason)
@kmarie357 I had a female student named Miles (I think she may have spelled it Myles) and thought that was super cool so you could do Miles Alexandra for a girl?

@LadySamLady I see what you mean. I originally didn't like Selene as a middle name for the same reason but it grew on me. Luckily, last name starts with W, so I think it'll go well.
So I thought my husband and I finally kinda agreed on our baby boy's name. I really like Rowan and he said he liked it alright. Then his mom asked me if we had any name ideas and I said that one was my fave so far, but listed a few others. She at first liked it then said it with our last name and was like yuck that's hard to say! My husband's name also starts with an R and so does our last name, so it's kinda similar but not. Our last name is short and not hard to say. I don't think it's hard to say them together at all. So I'm annoyed that she dislikes it now and his cousin who is a teenager also agreed with her. So now my husband doesn't seem to like it as much.
I've been asking him for his ideas and the only one he said was Eli, which I feel has too much religious meaning behind it (neither of us are religious). One of my friends (girl) goes by this also, so it rings feminine to me b/c of that. I suggested Hudson and he thinks that sounds like a last name.
Other names I like: Liam (a little too popular imo..so maybe middle name), Alexander (DH doesn't like), Collin, Andrew/Drew, Carter, Ashton, Avery, Rylan
@Sienna516 I absolutely love the name Rowan. I wanted that as a boy's name for years, and the only reason I chose to leave it behind is because my ex husband and I planned on that name.. figured it would be way too weird to even bring up to my SO because I would always be reminded of my ex (who is still my best friend, and it would probably also hurt his feelings if I used "our" name.) So, I say stick with Rowan!
The doc was 95% sure we are having a girl so the top contenders are:
Amelia (DH fav and the middle name of his grandma) I like it but it sort of feels like a mouthful for me.
Ava (my fav and the middle name of my MIL) but just saw a list today and it was in the top ten most popular names this year. I had no idea!
Robin- my belated mothers name. I'd love to honor her with a namesake but a few years ago before we were even TTC we mentioned that as a girls name to my FIL and he was shocked we would consider a "boys name" for a girl and that has stuck with me.
Thank goodness we still have five more months to decide. And who knows maybe in two weeks we will find out it's a boy and it's back to the drawing board!

Would you entertain of "bird" names as a salute to your mom? For example I love Lark (I know it's not everyone's style). It's a play on your moms name, and have a feminine sound. Or Raven?

Thanks for the input! I like Hudson, and while I took on name alliteration when I took my husbands last name, we aren't aiming to do that for our kiddos. Darn! Random names I've proposed are Walker, Quinn (he's okay with that one, sort of)....yeah now completely drawing a blank. DS is Davis and we have a two syllable last name that starts with an H...it's a traditional but popular first name lately any ideas?!
@Sienna516 My mother's maiden name is Rowan and it is also my cousin's middle name. I would LOVE to name a son Rowan but my husband wasn't crazy about it. Also, don't take teenagers seriously
We just found out this past Monday that we are having a boy! We have decided on Ryan James. My first choice was Declan (with no middle name) but my Irish boyfriend thought it was too Irish LOL!!

Robin is definitely a unisex name! IE, actress Robin Wright, the character Robin on "How I Met Your Mother"...my wife is a big birder, so we considered Robin, but our son is Teddy, we nixed it because we're NOT going to have Ted and Robin (HIMYM!) But as PP said, there are lots of other great bird names...Lark, Piper, Raven, etc.
I love Hudson for a boy! I've only met one as a first name, what about Harrison, or Elliot if he likes Eli. Paul and Daniel are nice traditional names that seam to fit with your other suggestions.

Our daughter's going to be Ruby Jean, named after my grandmothers. I've had this name picked out for years so there wasn't much discussion ; ) I'm pretty sure we will only use her middle name when she is up to no good.
We had a boy name picked out to, so we will save that incase there is ever a baby #2, Nolan Michael.
@jjroxtx my daughter's name is Ruby Ann-Elyse & I also have a Maci Monroe (after Marilyn) & a Daizy J-Lynn. My poor son is named after his father & I really don't like it so I call him Brother as does everyone else we know. I love old fashioned names & this baby will be named Charlie Grace - girl Charles ? - boy (but he'll go by Charlie) Really hoping for a boy Don't ask why (b/c I don't know) I'm waiting till baby #5 to name it after my Dad when I've wanted to all the other times.
Caroline Rose it is! Caroline covers his mother, grandmother, and my aunt. Rose comes from my grandmother. It was really never a question of what it would be. Our boy name was James Warren.
So I talked with my husband and he likes Elliot, NN Eli more than my current fave, Rowan. We had a work thing today and a few people asked names I was thinking of and I mentioned these. 2 ladies (separately) were like EEELLLIIOOOTTT in a creepy weird voice and then were like ya know ET. I was like well you can find anything wrong with any name. Afterwords I was thinking, I'm pretty sure kids these days have never even watched the movie ET, so really I just need to worry about adults making this connection. I just found it kinda rude though, like they couldn't filter themselves to at least say oh that's a nice name or something of the sort. I only watched that movie once and didn't even remember the kid's name was Elliot, but now I'm going to start to associate the 2.

Wayne is for my father in law who passed last spring ❤️
Little brother was born October 1, 2012.

Girl : Jade Margaret
My dad's name is Philip and DH's grandfather's name was Radford
Margaret was my grandma's name
Love seeing all the names on here! So much fun!
Miles Alexander
But have no idea for a girl!! We have a 3 syllable last name starting with Mc.
Any ideas?

Boy: Aaden Matthew
Girl: Abigail Jaide
Charlie Grace - girl
Charles ? - boy (but he'll go by Charlie)
Really hoping for a boy
Don't ask why (b/c I don't know) I'm waiting till baby #5 to name it after my Dad when I've wanted to all the other times.
