  • @mtpbadger sorry to hear that. I just got over an ectopic and needed only methotrexate. Not the catheter. It's good you were planning on taking a break anyway. It delayed me a while.
  • @drove2u, my RE said since she's not positive it's an ectopic, she wants to try the catheter first just in case there is something  hanging out in my uterus that's not showing up on the ultrasound. She also said she tries to avoid the methotrexate and uses it as a last resort, sounds like each RE has their preference. I've been spotting since last Saturday (annoying!) and it started getting a little heavier/normal yesterday, so hopefully that is a good thing and my numbers will continue to decrease.

  • It seems like each RE has their own unique ways of doing just about everything!!  If it wasn't for this forum I would probably never question anything mine does, but at least I feel more educated!

  • @mtpbadger yeah my doc was hoping my numbers would go down by themselves but after four rising blood tests he decided to give me the methotrexate.

  • Congrats to those with a BFP!! Here's wishing you a H&H 9 months.

Well, AF showed up 3 days late but with a vengeance this morning. I could tell she was coming last night because I was sooooo crabby. Lucky for DH, he was out of town. Lol. Oh well, it definitely sucks but this was our first IUI. We'll keep pushing forward and start another cycle this week.
  • @amandaleigh2181 sorry to hear that your AF showed up and is awful.
  • @amandaleigh2181 so sorry. I know that feeling! Pretty sure this will be my second failed iui .... I have those nasty AF cramps on and off since Saturday night
  • Looks like AF is coming for me too!! Booo!!!
  • I think AF is coming for me too. I'm feeling overwhelmingly anxious (wish I could have an Ativan) and like I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight. This happens to me before my period every month. I get terrible anxiety and insomnia. I checked my cervix and it is super low. I just still don't have any spotting or too many cramps. Only a few random times today I felt some cramps and then they went away. This is so annoying!

@kh87 ok actually , update! Just went to the bathroom and it's really high i had to really get in there with my middle finger .... Not too hard but not super soft .... Idk the difference anyways cuz I don't track my cervical position . But I could barely reach it... Is that a good thing?
  • @martinez1029 high is good! At least that's what I've read. FX!!

@amandaleigh2181 I'm so sorry AF showed! We've defintely a been there and know how you're feeling.

What is this about cervical position, you reach in to see if it's high?  What does that mean?  Yikes, as if I need yet another thing to drive myself crazy with!

  • @martinez1029 high is good! Your cervix is normally low and can be reached easily unless you are ovulating or are pregnant. Right before menstrustion is gets very low and hard. (Like mine is right now) I would take it as a good sign!
  • Also as far as the softness, when it's hard it feels like the tip of your nose. When it is soft it feels squisher like if you pushed on your lip.
  • @kh87 - at what point before menstruation does it get low and hard?  And does anyone know if progesterone suppositories affect the position at all?  Mine is pretty high (can't even reach it when I insert the suppositories), but I have a feeling that's because of the progesterone.

  • @wifeinraleigh28 I'm taking 200mg progesterone x3 a day and mine is super low and hard.
  • Thanks for the info @kh87!  I'm only 7dpiui/dpo so I'm not sure where I fall in there.  I'm probably going to drive myself crazy with this now though!  Yet another thing to analyze :)

  • @wifeinraleigh28 check it once a day and you'll start to notice the differences and be able to tell what is low, medium or high for you. I check mine everyday and mine was super high until about 3dpiui. Then went to a medium position and has since gone into a low position a couple days ago. I'm 13dpiui so AF is close.
  • @kh87 which IUI # is this for you?  Does the progesterone delay your period?  My RE told me that it would until I stop taking it, which I've been instructed to do if I get a BFN on 14dpiui.  Then I was told AF should start about a week later.

  • @wifeinraleigh28 this is my first IUI. It took several cycles to get me to actually ovulate. Not sure about the progesterone/AF deal but plan to ask tomorrow. My Dr. gave me a lifetime supply of them but never said anything to me about stopping them. My friend who went through all of this last year said that her period came while she was still using them!
  • @kh87 - well I hope AF never shows for you and that your IUI was successful!!  Beta should be coming up soon, yeah?  Maybe they instruct you once you get your beta results.  Since my RE will only do a beta if I get a positive HPT at 14dpiui that might be why they gave me specific instructions regarding the progesterone.

  • @wifeinraleigh28 yep beta is tomorrow morning. I'm sure I'll receive my instructions then. I haven't done any HPT's! Holding out for the beta results. Dr offered to do beta today bc of the discharge issue I was having with my boobs but I declined. If it came back negative I would wonder if it's bc I tested too early lol. Just wanna test once and have it be 100%. I don't have high hopes this cycle though, I have a couple AF symptoms that I normally get!
  • @kh87 Good for you for holding out!!  I'm not sure I could!

  • @kh87 is that illustration accurate? Because I have to force my middle finger all the way up to touch it .
  • @martinez1029 for the most part. Def depends how long your fingers are. I have baby hands so i have to go in a little farther than illustration shows for each one. But when you check it everyday you'll learn where it's at at different times.
  • @kh87 lol long skinny fingers for me
  • @martinez1029 yeah yours must be way up there LOL. My fingers are super short. They look like kid hands.
  • @tbyars07 that's awesome !! congrats!!!

  • @tbyars07 did you experience any symptoms before your BFP??
  • @martinez1029 Nothing at all except some mild period like cramps the past two days. My doctor said that's normal so I'm not worrying to much about it.

  • @tbyars07 thanks for the info! I've had some random AF cramps the last few days too. That gives me an inkling of hope!
  • well for all of us 12/3 testers.... tomorrow is the day of truth! ... to protect myself Im already thinking about and looking into IVF .... because if this IUI doesn't work ill do one more before moving on to IVF .... im really really scared of IVF... I basically have unexplained because I had a prolactin issue that was addressed over a year ago... they keep telling both of us everything looks perfect blah blah blah... its just scary to me....
  • @martinez1029 it scares me too. It's very invasive. And expensive! I'm afraid of how we would come up with that amount of money if it comes down to it!
  • @tbyars07 Congratulations!!! super happy for you!
