GTKY- show me your Christmas tree!

I just got my tree up today- I love this time of year! I even cried this year while retelling DD the stories of where a lot of my tree decor came from (I have my late grandmother's tree and a bunch of my great grandmother's ornaments).

When you get yours up, I'd love to see it!

Looks great! I love the idea of this thread, unfortunately we won't be putting ours up for at least another week. I might however take a picture of my outside lights (once it gets dark) that I did last weekend, I'm pretty proud of those!

We aren't doing Christmas decor this year. My husband is a manager with Fedex so as soon as Thanksgiving is over he pretty much lives at work because of the massive increase in freight. With me on bedrest, I can't do the decorating this year either. We usually do Christmas at his parent's house anyway so we don't really need to drag it all out anyway.

Love seeing Christmas photos though!

Take to my dad today. For the month of December we will all be living together so we get to celebrate the holidays together. He has surgery on the 2nd of December and will be limited on what he can do. So after he gets home from surgery, he will put hooks on bulbs while I hang them on the tree. He will do anything he can from the chair, and I'll do the light weight decorating. Dh is going to hang light outside and anything that takes more effort. We will play music while decorating and sip apple cider since my dad can't have hot chocolate. It will be a nice reward after head ache of moving

Love this!!! I am itching to get into the holiday spirit. Dh doesn't let us do any holiday stuff until after thanksgiving, but considering he is Jewish and jumps enthusiastically into the Christmas train after thanksgiving i really can't complain.
Last year we bought a ton of holiday lights at the after Christmas sales so I can't wait to get them out on our house. Probably no tree until the 6th becauae we are visiting IL's this week and ten we need to have time to go to the farm and cut down a real one.

Hoping to put ours up during Thanksgiving weekend. We were debating about not to put it up this year because DD will most likely yank on it. Hubby said we should do it though and we'll just put all the ornaments on the top half of the tree to DD can't eat any sparkles. I'll post a picture when the tree is up. We have never done the lights around the house and probably won't do so for the next couple of years until the kids are a bit older. We are just too lazy...

We will be OOT for Thanksgiving so I wanted to get somewhat of a head start on decorating. No tree topper for the new tree yet. I might head over to target at lunch and take a look at their selection.

We'll be cutting our tree this weekend! The tree farm doesn't open until after Thanksgiving and I wouldn't want my tree to die before Christmas.

I'm horrified to see cut trees already set up for sale in parking lots... not even kept in water! Seems like a sad waste of beautiful trees since they won't last until Christmas.

Ahh, I'm so jealous! We're doing a live tree this year but we might be moving in a week or two. So right now we're in limbo about when we're going to be able to decorate. I pulled all my decorations out and looked through them hoping the sight would just hold me over for the time being.

Our "Chanuka" tree! Only decorated in blue, silver, and white... The top lights went out shortly after decorating. For any wondering about the Chanukah tree... We raise our dd Jewish, but my husbands family are Christian so all of my dd cousins have trees and even though I was raised Jewish my parents also always decorated a Chanukah tree/bush, we just love the holiday season!
Also one of our toddler friendly menorahs!

I love the coloured lights!! That's what our tree at my parents' house looks like and when I have my own tree I want it to look like that too!!

I started decorating our Christmas tree at work. It looks kind of pathetic right now, but once the students finish decorating it (or I do once I take my break) I will get a pic of it.

Here's ours! It's more kid-friendly this year. The Santa hat topper is a bit of a story: our ceilings are 7ft and the tree is 8ft so the top is bent in half, the Santa hat was a desperation move by my husband the year we moved into our current flat. We used my brother-in-law's hat, much to his chagrin. We still use his hat at Christmas because he's overseas in China and can't make it home for the holidays

I picked a scotch pine this year. I've never had one but they are supposed to keep needles well and it's a beautiful, vibrant green. Last year I'm pretty sure my tree kept me breaking out in gross large hives... So far, so good, this year!

We usually get a real tree, but I'm just too lazy this year. So instead I bought a pre-lit artificial tree and it was the best idea ever. No shots of the tree yet, because my toddler managed to break almost half of the bulbs. But here are my girls enthralled with the lights.

We put ours up tonight. This is our first Christmas in our new house and we have a formal living room with a big window and a wood burning fireplace with a mantel. I have been so looking forward to decorating this year.

First time actually going and cutting down a real tree, but I figured next year will be crazy with a little one crawling around, and we'll be back to artificial. My 3 kids (13, 10, 7) had a great time decorating.

Still have no topper for my tree but I'm picky. Christmas time is my favorite time to be sentimental. I was born the 23rd and came home Christmas Day in a big stocking that my mom still has.

the tree skirt is my grandparents that I got last year after having to clean out there house. It's probably 50 years old. I'm thinking of hand making a tree topper. Not sure what though.

Here is our Christmas tree and the only decorated room in our house. (Actually, that's not true, my LO has a mini tree full of hand made ornaments and little things we've collected over the years. I'll get a pic of that tomorrow).

Here are my decorations and both of my trees. The big one is real, the dining room tree is artificial.
Normally I do this all Thanksgiving weekend. This year the belly has made me break this out over a few weekends. Doing the garland on my staircase almost killed me

We set up our tree tonight... Only to find our lights had been damaged in storage... So it's missing them at the moment until DH gets some new ones tomorrow!
