Any suggestions for a place to find a funeral-appropriate dress for a very good bargain? My expendable income this month will be spent on a plane ticket and I'd rather not drop more than $30 or so on a dress I'll wear once. The funeral will be in Wisconsin so I'll likely wear it with some fleece-lined leggings and boots...and I'm hoping to not have to spring for a coat I need to be able to try it on both because I'm so petite and because I don't have time to wait for something to ship. Any advice would be really appreciated!
Target, tjmaxx, and Ross are my go-to's for good finds!
Does Ross have a maternity section? There are 4 or 5 within driving distance but I rarely go shopping so I just don't know. I plan to check out target and I can see if there are any TJ Maxx's in the area...thank you everyone!
If they don't have an actual section, look in the baby clothes section.
Hunger games is okay. The story is fine, the writing is meh. It's no Harry Potter. HP is a masterpiece though in my opinion. Every detail comes full circle and it's written well.
Whoever grouped 50 shades into the same category as these two, nooooooo. I have no problem with sex but I heard these books were painful to get through bc of the level of writing. Didn't even pick it up ever.
First BFP 12/2012, MMC at 9 weeks
Second BFP 6/2013, resulted in DS, born 2/23/14 :-)
Third BFP 5/2015, natural MC at 6 weeks
Fourth BFP 8/2015, hoping for sticky little brother or sister to H!

Thanks all! I'm also just going to go full AW for a minute - my Grams passed away this morning and I'm a weird mixture of happy she's finally resting (97 years old and has been widowed for 35ish years) and sad that this LO will never know her tough, badass Grams. She survived an awful lot and no one would accuse her of being a sweet old lady, but she was kind, she was generous, and she worked hard for 95 years of her life. We used to bring her from the nursing home to help us butcher, until she almost put her hand through the meat grinder one spring. I can only hope I grow to be as selfless and hardworking as she was.
Maybe she'll guide me as I cook my first turkey today
She sounds like an amazing woman. I am very sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your Grams. I found a black stretchy knit long sleeve dress for DH's grandmother's funeral when DD was really little in the TJMaxx regular women's section. Also, check the sweater dresses - they tend to have good stretch. You can also add a dark cardigan over just about anything muted (greys, dark blues etc) and still be respectfully dressed if you need to, especially when you're obviously pregnant
I honestly feel behind the game because I haven't made a big purchase for LO yet.
Ditto. I'm casually browsing craigslist, but I did get a p&p for Christmas that she'll sleep in for the first few months. I'd rather buy secondhand and use my cash flow to pay back student loans than have everything brand new...ya know, since I couldn't wait until the loans were paid off to get KU
I just calmly tell myself that baby will have my boobs for eating, my arms for soothing, and the p&p for sleeping. Plus, between DH and MIL she probably won't be put down for at least the first six weeks of her life.
I honestly feel behind the game because I haven't made a big purchase for LO yet.
Same
Seriously, don't stress. Babies need something to eat, somewhere to sleep, something to poop in, and maybe something to wear. They require much much less than there is in those overwhelming baby stores
@AmadorRose@k&elizabeth you ladies are great, made me feel better sometimes I read things on here that I've never freaking heard of doing or getting. Makes me feel so unprepared!
I honestly feel behind the game because I haven't made a big purchase for LO yet.
No worries, I bought my first purchase for this LO this weekend - and it was only an outfit. I haven't even considered starting on any of the other stuff yet.. you're not alone! Plus, like the others said, there's really not much that you actually 'need' right away.
@AmadorRose so sorry to hear about your grams, she sounded like an amazing woman. I lost my great grandma a few years ago and I think of her almost every single day. It's amazing to have lived a full life knowing you were loved by those around you and that you made a difference in their lives, my grams definitely did
@kalanieileen apart from clothes I haven't bought anything for the baby yet, so don't feel too bad. I am not planning on starting before January :P
We just found out that my DHs cousin (more like a brother) is having a baby in April as well, so our LO will have a cousin his exact age! I am so excited for him to have someone to play with and if their relationship is half as good as DH with his cousin then I know he will have a friend for lifetime.
On less exciting news, doing the glucose test is very boring. At least they gave me a dark room where I can sleep on a couch while waiting 2 hours. LO has not been kicking the past two days but he had a very strong heartbeat so I can relax again
ETA: They moved my due date to the 10th, and I find it slightly annoying
@kalanieileen I go on little tangents where I feel like a terrible person for not being more prepared, not having a nursery, etc. but then I realize that as a baby, she won't be demanding...but as a teenager, she definitely will be! So I'm going to keep it simple for as long as I can, especially since the less junk I have lying around, the less I'll have to pack up and move when we relocate.
@elasticheart13 I'm glad your appointment went well! And you have to be getting close to your husband joining you, right?
I honestly feel behind the game because I haven't made a big purchase for LO yet.
I haven't purchased anything at all! We're probably moving in about a month though, and I don't want to have to pack up a bunch of extra stuff. There's no place to put it in our current place anyway. Registries are fun for now.
@elasticheart13 I'm glad your appointment went well! And you have to be getting close to your husband joining you, right?
Yup! Everything was fine except my iron levels that were very scary low. It explains the extreme fatigue during my London weekend. His moms stunt with ruining his car is making things take a little longer but I am crossing my fingers he will be here before Friday. I am fed up!

I hosted my first Thanksgiving party and it was a success! Everyone had a good time and the turkey I made turned out great! The meat fell right off the bone and it was moist. I had over 30 people come over, all family members and it was actually not bad at all. I am kind of hoping my family would ask me to host Christmas because I'd do it in a heartbeat. One good thing about hosting a party where people are bringing food with are the leftovers! Most of them didn't want to take their leftovers home - they left them here!
I also made another turkey to the best of my ability. I attempted a Pinterest appetizer tray. Mine is on the bottom LOL
Harry Potter is amazing.

All of this exactly. I did read the first 50 Shades, but it was AWFUL... and not because I"m a prude (although I am a little bit haha), but because it was so horribly written. The main character had such a flat and horrible personality. It's actually fanfic of Twilight, and I Hate Bella for the same reason... ridiculous, flat, boring personality and will pretty much give up anything and everything for some guy. Who is potentially abusive. Cool.
Hunger Games were a fun read.
Harry Potter is life. Like for reals.

I have bought some things but mainly because I want to buy most things used, so I have to keep an eye out for what I want and scoop it up when its available. I got a double stroller on my local mom BST board for a steal!

I'm worried sick... My doctor was on vacation last week so she called me today to talk about anatomy scan results... I was in clinic so I didn't have my phone with me, so I just got the voice mail now (after hours). She asked me to call back to chat about a couple more tests she needs to order. Now I am here worried sick about what could possibly be the issue to require "a couple more tests"??? I know the tech couldn't see the abdominal contents and lower spine very well because baby was curled into a ball, so I was expecting to have to go back to look at those parts, but I wasn't expecting to need "a couple" of tests...?!?! I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight.

Oh that sounds scary, hopefully it's nothing major hugs to you when can you go in?

I don't know, I only heard the voice message after work hours, so I won't be able to call the office back until tomorrow morning.

I just heard a second voice message from the secretary asking me to call back about a referral to level 2 ultrasound and genetics.
My heart is broken.
It doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, they might just have noticed something and want to rule out whatever it is by getting a closer look so don't worry yourself sick. Please update us when you know more.

Scary! Try not to worry too much! Maybe it's really nothing serious.
Some of you will remember that we had a very rough early pregnancy, when HCG levels were not going up and we were told it was a nonviable pregnancy. The possibility of a genetic abnormality has been haunting me since, but I was reassured by the IPS results and by what I could see in the anatomy US. I cannot imagine what it is that they saw… Everything I saw appeared normal. Since the tech couldn't see the abdominal contents and the lower spine because baby was curled, I am here imagining it must be some intrabadominal abnormality. I am just speculating and going through so many scenarios in my head. We are in shock. I just want my baby to be healthy. I would give him my own health if I could…

This really breaks my heart, I really hope your LO is fine and healthy

Oh man, I'm so sorry you're going through this right now. Joining in with everybody else to offer virtual hugs and well wishes. It sounds like your little man has proven the doctors wrong before; he may very well do it again. You know we're all pulling for you and for him.
I'm not a doctor, but if I were I'd prescribe some serious distractions until you get more information. Your imagination is not your friend right now, and no amount of running through worst case scenarios in your head is going to change anything except for your stress levels. Maybe some good Russian lit or some bad TV to take your mind off things for a little while, if you can manage it?
