The circadian pattern of endogenous corticosteroid production/secretion is likely responsible. You probably feel your best around noon-ish, when your corticosteroid levels are highest, and then as level start to fall later in the day, you start to feel unwell again. If you notice a predictable pattern, you could take some tylenol a couple of hours before your throat typically hurts, to see if that eases the discomfort. Get well soon!
  • I will prompt today with meds. I've been sick for almost two weeks. So freaking over it. We're leaving for California tomorrow and Disney mon/Tuesday. Grrrrrrr.

How was everyone's thanksgiving? And Black Friday?

  • Hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving (for those who celebrate)! I went out later on Black Friday with my parents, and wound up buying a pair of maternity jeans. Holy Lord, I should have bought them sooner. So damn comfortable.

And then my mom showed me this onesie. I swore I wouldn't buy a onesie yet, but dammit, I was tearing up in the store just looking at it. How could I not? I have no self control with baby/kids clothes.

My husband is like you, he catches a cold and stays sick for 2-3 weeks. I always find it amazing how different we respond to colds. For instance, when we were in Orlando he caught a cold and only fully recovered after 3 weeks. I caught the same cold from him, and was fully recovered in 36 hours (despite the immunosupression of pregnancy… Typically I recover in 24h).
I like to joke that this is because he is a purebred, and I am a mutt. :) We all know mutt dogs are the healthier… The same must apply to humans, right? I am a mutt of the human race. :)

Re: Thanksgiving, Canadian thanksgiving was in October so we didn't have a holiday this week, but we did have Black friday. I have been searching online sources of baby things on sale but haven't found anything I liked…. I did go to an Outlet mall yesterday though, and bought a boatload of onuses at Carters. :)
  • Last night my dog woke up me at 3:30am to go outside, and I couldn't sleep again til 5:30 am so I was browsing cribs and nursery themes until I fell asleep again. Every time I looked at robot nursery themes/ decoration, my baby gave me a kick! It was spot on. I have a feeling he wants a robot nursery. :)

Is anyone else getting charley horses? Is there anything I can do about them? They hurt so badly!

Oh yeah I forgot there is a symptoms thread I guess I should use... sorry :(

    I forgive you!

And I'm not getting all-out cramps, more quick, sharp pains that make my legs restless. Charlie horses are super common, though.

We just ordered our stroller and car seat! This is getting real now!!!
We just got ours too! We're packing to move in a couple weeks and it really hit home for me to label a box "baby stuff."
Cool! What did you decide on?
  • Nesting has started, and I'm so excited about it! Yesterday I said to my kids, "Hey, guys, can you just pick up your books off the floor?" and I finished by mopping, and scrubbing the blinds.
This part is the best. It makes me remember meth with fondness. Later it will devolve into me yelling at people for touching whatever it is I just spent two hours cleaning with rubbing alcohol and a qtip, and reminds me why tweaking is the devil (aside from the obvious dangers). But for now, I'll just enjoy that cleaning is a compulsion that makes me happy rather than a chore. Hahaha!
  • @mojomama6 your post just killed me. I was forcefully removed from my laundry room only moments ago to be put in bed like a toddler throwing a tantrum because I'm over tired and being a bitch to my fiancé. He wouldn't rinse off his plate after dinner, therefore he's out to make me do as much housework as possible to earn my place as a sahm when the time comes. I really do need to sleep, he's right, but I'm too mad about the house to actually get there. I have a black trash bag full of laundry to wash, dry, and then put away, a sink full of dishes because I literally couldn't stand long enough to do them after baking four dozen cupcakes, two dozen cupcakes to bake tomorrow, all of them to frost tomorrow, floors to be mopped, bathroom to be cleaned... I can't even focus on one task at a time, and he's just playing Madden without a care in the world. -.- Just how harmful would meth ACTUALLY be to LO?

    Kidding... Not kidding... But kinda?
  • @thaisac1 what did you get?

Congrats to both of you on new purchases.

I took my giant machine to PBK this weekend and am so so so exhausted. Holy crap I haven't embroidered that much in my life. And never transporting my machine again. That was way too stressful.

Finished ds's Disney outfits today. He needs 5 sets and a spare shirt for a 2 day trip. Not including pajamas. Of course.

Dead. That's seriously the best thing of the whole day, and I just got back from the movies.

  • @NachosAndPeaches Mockingjay. I didn't like the ending of the 3rd book but I think the movie did a better job of concluding. I was pleasantly surprised because I never like the movies better than the books.

And I wore out DH so he came home, made a fire, and passed out while I prepped for tomorrow's cooking adventure!

We got the Uppababy Vista stroller and Mesa car seat, both in jet black. We looked around and never found something we liked better in terms of functionality and looks (I mean, looks wise the Stokke Xplory stroller takes the prize, but it was more cumbersome to operate and folded way too big).

Now we are trying to decide on cribs. Yesterday we saw the Oeuf Rhea crib in walnut and it is so beautiful!!! We loved it but it is difficult to find a dresser that matches it unless you get an Ouef dresser (which unfortunately costs $1750 in Canada, yikes!!!), so now I'm reevaluating the crib... I also like the Oeuf Sparrow and Elephant cribs.

Sounds like you had a successful day at PBK yesterday! Congrats!

  • So just came back from London with very mixed feelings. I enjoyed every minute of the concert and holy crap the amount of baby clothes I ended up buying (I pretty much only need burp cloths and I'm done) but I was SO exhausted. I have never ever felt this tired in my whole life. I can't walk without looking like a 70 year old woman if I walked for longer than 10 min. I felt like my sister had to slow down for me constantly so I could keep up because of the pain I was in. I don't like this :(

I couldn't get into Harry Potter or 50 shades either, so you get no judgement from me. The Hunger Games series was well written until the last few chapters of the third book, IMO.

@elasticheart13 I feel you. I got out of bed this morning and almost fell when my SI joint popped...more from surprise than from pain but I'm not looking forward to the next 20ish weeks!

The last fiction book I read was Crime and Punishment. I was just about to say it would never make it into a movie, then I found out it did! In 1935… :) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026246/

I still have The Idiot and The Brothers Karamazov here to read… I suspect that makes a trilogy? :P

I am very cool and contemporary with my literature…. NOT! :D

    ---EDITED FOR BIG FAT QBP---

There's nothing wrong with a little Dostoevsky! I read Crime & Punishment in high school for a literature class and I really enjoyed it.

However, Harry Potter books and movies are very much a not-at-all-guilty pleasure of mine. I LOVE them, grew up reading them, and am currently in the process of reading them again

I read the Hunger Games trilogy and I really enjoyed them, but the level of writing is definitely sub-par to Rowling, IMO. I dig the movies quite a bit too.

Fifty Shades & it's accompaniments is all garbage. Don't feel bad there. ;):p
  • @cmjenkies when I was in trade school after basic training, we had a female who brought 50 shades to class with her...so any time she left the room we took turns opening to a random passage and reading it as dramatically as possible. It was hilarious but to this day I don't understand how or why she tried to make the most mundane things sexy. Real life is not all sexy...case in point, I nearly broke my husband's computer/gaming chair today when I sat on him because I needed a shoulder to cry on. Not sexy...not even a little. Pre-baby me wouldn't have had that problem!

Dostoevsky is a heavy read, bit what amazes me is how the problems of mankind from the 1800s can still be transposed into today. Times change, but Mankind doesn't...
  • I haven't read 50 Shades of Gray or Hunger Games either. I refuse to read them and I haven't seen the movies. They look totally dumb to me. I love HP though.
  • Any suggestions for a place to find a funeral-appropriate dress for a very good bargain? My expendable income this month will be spent on a plane ticket and I'd rather not drop more than $30 or so on a dress I'll wear once. The funeral will be in Wisconsin so I'll likely wear it with some fleece-lined leggings and boots...and I'm hoping to not have to spring for a coat :/
I need to be able to try it on both because I'm so petite and because I don't have time to wait for something to ship. Any advice would be really appreciated!
  • My new guilty pleasure is reading the Labor Watch thread in the Nov '15 bmb. I'm getting strangely excited to be in labor again. Someone, please, remind me of this feeling when I'm in actual labor haha.

The Liz Lange Maternity section at my target had a work-appropriate wrap dress when I was there yesterday. It was all black and would work at a funeral. I always try target first. Secondly, I'm sorry for your loss!

It used to be green soo... we definitely needed a change!! I have also selected all of the other things I want to re-do our house, but trying not to go overboard. I wish our basement renovation were DONE and we haven't even started yet!!

Does Ross have a maternity section? There are 4 or 5 within driving distance but I rarely go shopping so I just don't know. I plan to check out target and I can see if there are any TJ Maxx's in the area...thank you everyone!

The Ross I go to doesn't have a maternity section, but a lot of dresses are stretchy fabric material. Good luck!
