    I want a warm, fudgey corner brownie.  Nay, I need a warm, fudgey corner brownie. I have no butter or margarine. I have 50 pounds of bread flour and zero pounds of all purpose flour. I wish I were a meaner wife so I could justify forcing my husband to drop everything he's doing and go to the grocery store to get me the stuff I need to make a brownie, stat. I tried explaining to him how badly I needed one, and he just laughed and said "I love you, Sparky." Yeah, well if you really loved me, you would be at the grocery store right now, wouldn't you?!
    But... but he'd also be able to eat brownies. How is that not motivation enough, even without the pregnant wife??
    Maybe he thinks I wouldn't share?  I mean, he'd probably be right, but you'd think he'd have more faith in me.

    Is there a conversion for the bread flour you can use? Also apple sauce in place of butter. Or olive oil, if you can't them super gooey.
  • We made brownies from ghirardelli mix (using coconut oil) tonight. Om nom nom. I hate the corner pieces, though. Ooey gooey middle is where it's at!

    The big thing I worry about is the texture... everything I've read online indicates that bread flour will make it chewier, what with the higher gluten content. I'm not sure whether "chewier" means more like cake, or more like fudge, and I'm reluctant to take the chance. Especially if I'm subbing in oil for butter... too many variables.
  • I don't care for corner pieces either. My grandma has the best brownie recipe ever. They're super fudgy. But she's insane and serves them out of the freezer instead of warm. And they're still good. Imagine how good they are warm. I can share the recipe but it's on my old phone. Will have to find it tomorrow.

  • Never mind found it. You're welcome.

    Savta brownies
    -4 eggs
    -2 cups sugar
    -4 ounces butter
    -4 tbs cocoa powder
    -1 cup flour
    -2 tsp vanilla
    -1 tsp instant coffee
    - tbs brandy

    1. Preheat oven to 350. Melt butter and cocoa powder together in microwave
    2. Beat sugar and eggs together in mixer and when combined add in butter/cocoa mixture
    3. Add brandy, vanilla, and instant coffee (you can add a teaspoon of kosher salt if you want as well). Don't over mix
    4. Pour into baking dish and let settle at least ten minutes
    5. Bake for 25 min (at 35).

    They will come out slightly chewy/fudgey

  • Ghiradelli brownies are the best! Especially the triple fudge one.

    No joke, about a month ago I made brownies for four people, and everyone know how much I hate corner pieces. I made them, served four, then went to bed. When I woke up the next morning one of my roommates ate the centerpiece and I had a total pregnant melt down. Complete with a Facebook post about how no one loves me enough to let me have the only joy I could make for myself while hating being pregnant.

    I kinda overreacted... Maybe...

    Quick little vent... I don't know why, but I have been paranoid about cervical insufficiency lately. Everything has been going well, and this was not even on my radar, but 2 weeks ago one of my colleagues told me that when she was 18 weeks pregnant with her first, she had a regular OB appointment and was feeling well, but mentioned that she had been feeling a little bit of pressure here and there. It was actually not concerning her, but when the doctor examined her, her cervix was open. This led to an emergent cerclage and  hospitalization for the rest of the pregnancy (she delivered a healthy baby).
    She wasn't particularly symptomatic, just had a tiny but of pressure, and we all know we feel little pressures often throughout pregnancy. Then, how am I supposed to know what's normal and what's dangerous???

    Then, one of our dear board members recently lost her baby to cervical incompetence. The story really, really affected me. I felt so bad. Since then, I have not been able to get rid of the "it could be me" thoughts.. Every little feeling I have, worries me.

    I know this is quite uncommon but the thoughts are plaguing me. I just want a calm, uneventful pregnancy, for me and for all of you.

    Vent over.

    I am feeling better today, ladies.
    Yesterday was my 14th day of work without a day off (today:15 and counting), I guess in the back of my mind I was a bit concerned for being on my feet all weekend with little rest, and that was probably making me more frustrated/ worried. Today I'm feeling good (maybe because I felt many kicks last night, and I am not feeling any pelvic pressure today hehe). Let's see what tomorrow brings. :)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~MAJOR QUOTE FAIL~~~~~
    I understand your pain! Up until this weekend I worked 14 days straight no breaks hitting 12 hours each day. It's very tiring and every single cramp or pain had me worried for the baby. My body hurt so bad it felt like it was breaking. Soon you will rest and everything will be fine. Hang in there mama :)
  • Little one, why must you still look so small when I sit? The bus is full, and even though I've given up my seat twice, I get ugly looks whenever I do get to sit down. You're only useful when I'm standing :p
  • Early confession: I took the day off today to do a "transition day" at DD's new daycare where she has a short day and I stayed a while before leaving. I had planned to use my "free time" to catch up on grading, but instead I have spent the last three hours shopping.
    I have the whole week ahead and a grant deadline on monday - no rest in sight but this is something I am used to. But  for some reason I was having a bad day yesterday - glad it's all better today and I'm back to my usual self. :)
    The new announcement at the top of our board!  We're getting a new feature, designed especially for repetitive questions! This is totally going to change nothing revolutionize everything!
    wait I'm dying *insert guy rolling in the floor*
    I would rather have notifications sent to our phone with responses and mentions for those of us who mainly bump mobile. I always lag on responses because I have to sift back through threads to see who commented to me! Ugh!
    Or even to just fix all the crazy "you're not logged in - nope psych, you're fine" crap.
    I mean I'll probably hang on to it for an in case situation, and then do that when we're better established with BFing.
    So does that mean I'm going to have to go through yet another pointless screen to get to the only reason I use this damn app?? Dafuq bumpgods...
    Heh, I got a whole bunch from my doctor's office, and all but one sample expired well before my due date. Um, thanks?  (I donated it.) I'm sure I'll get more at the hospital to have just in case.
  • I'll have to look at the dates. I will either keep it just in case or donate it :) I still think it's weird they keep giving it out
  • I second what @kalanieileen said. It would be nice to be able to see where we've been mentioned from the phone, and perhaps the option to turn off notifications from a certain thread we no longer want notifications from. It's doable on other boards, so why is it so difficult for TB to do the same?
  • Look what my loving fiancé just sent me when I asked him if he thinks I'm doing OK right now.
  • @Knottie9983816 that will totally be DH, just add in a game controller!
  • @AmadorRose I'm about to hide his PS4 remotes...
    omg my DH too. Oh man. :D
  • @AmadorRose I'm about to hide his PS4 remotes...
    I honestly appreciate how glued he's been to Fallout 4, because any time he's not playing he's all up in my business. I love my man, but I'm not comfortable with in-your-face affection if I don't initiate it. He thinks I'm such a good wife for letting him play but I encourage it because I'm selfish and want quiet time to read my textbooks!
  • So I wasn't paying attention well enough to where I was putting my site for my Zofran pump and I put the needle too close to my site from this morning instead of a new spot. It hurt so bad that I legitimately peed on my couch. Like, not a little bit.... My poor husband just stood up, rolled his eyes, grabbed sanitizer and said "I'll clean it up" hahaha. We made a pact to change each other's diapers in old age, but this is too early.
  • What is up with this website? It has been months and I still can't add a profile picture or signature. :(
    All I can say is that this thread involves dildos. Multiple dildos.
    How did it go? I feel like for my son, me staying there would have made it worse in the beginning. (Now he is so happy to be there he doesn't even say bye unless I force him to). But the first couple weeks while transitioning the teachers said he calmed down like 5-10 min tops after I left so I just made it as quick as possible. But he also was the kind that Ferber didn't work for him, he'd get way too riled up when he saw us instead of calm down, we had to do old school CIO and it worked so much faster. (For us obviously)
  • For moms who have gotten formula: post on local BST groups to see if anybody needs it! Shelter is good too.
    Random thought: having a cough (I feel like fucking death actually) while pregnant is the worst. Wanna know why? Every time I have a coughing fit I pee a little. So glamorous.
