Almost 39 weeks (tomorrow), nothing going on and getting a lot of comfort from all the posts from you ladies. Great job to all of you; those who have had their babies and those who are waiting to- you are all awesome! And good luck to all of my end-of-November mamas! I will be thinking about all of you over the next week and checking in to read every day. Happy Friday!

I am 39 weeks today, I also check in all the time, it's helping me pass the time :)

  • I'm 39w4d today and woke up so uncomfortable. My pelvis area has been sore for weeks but it's really bad today. I have an appt this afternoon, hoping to hear some good news. I agree with others that I feel like she's never coming (even though I know that's silly!) I'm just ready to meet her already! Haven't really had any contractions, or other signs of labor at all. Just trying to make it through each day at this point. Bags are packed, nursery is ready, PNP is set up and car seats are installed. All we need is a baby! :)

  • Due today and so far nothing! I was really hoping LO would come today. Guess she's going to be just as stubborn as her big sister who was born 4 days late. Hopefully she comes before the 26th since that is big sisters 4th birthday.
  • Well I had my last Dr appt today! I'll be 41 wks tomorrow! *sigh* If baby boy doesn't come this weekend...we're going for induction Monday morning! Fingers crossed he doesn't want to wait until then!
  • Just had my last appointment at 39+5. All he said was soft cervix, but not dilated. Super disappointed. Induction is set for the 30th at 41+1. He said medically he doesn't want me going farther than that.

  • Had a membrane sweep today and I'm pretty crampy. Hoping it leads to something. We scheduled an induction for 11/30 when I'll be 41 weeks. Hoping she comes before then since all of DH's family will be here next week!

I hope it leads to something for you too! I am going to request one on Monday and want all success stories for them! My brother, sil, nephew, and grandmother are all in town so I hope baby comes while they are here so they can meet him/her...

On a side note...I think I am going crazy. I keep hearing baby cries.

  • 40 weeks today and nothing. Had my OB appointment and I'm 1 cm dilated and cervix has thinned. NST and amneotic fluid ultrasound scheduled for Wednesday. Induction scheduled for 11/30. Baby please come on your own! Induction scares the crap out of me.
  • I am being induced tomorrow at 7:30 am! I'm feeling nervous because one of my friends was due Nov 30th and was induced on Monday. She didn't deliver her daughter until THURSDAY afternoon! I am due Nov 28th and I so afraid I will have an experience like that. Our EDDs were only 2 days apart and we've had many of the same experiences while pregnant. I know every baby and delivery are different. This just made me even more nervous! Hopefully all goes well and we meet our little girl tomorrow! I'm so excited. My DH looks like he's going to pass out at any point and we aren't even at the hospital yet.

Just know it is very common for inductions before your due date to take days. That's ok though, and actually good. They will start slow and let your crevice ripen on its own. That alone could take a full day or 2 before you ever feel a contraction and get into active labor. Go in expecting it to take a few days and be surprised and happy if it doesn't.
Ask for sleeping pills when they give you the gel to ripen your cervix. Relaxing and sleeping helps.
Bring ear plugs and an eye mask for you and your DH. It's hard to sleep in a hospital when not much is happening.
  • Well, still pregnant lol. For those ladies that had successful membrane sweeps that led the labor, how long after your sweep did you go into labor? I have another appointment on Monday so I suppose I could get another one then if she doesn't make her debut by then. Just would like to hear some success stories :) I was really hoping last night was the night.

I had a membrane sweep done on a Thursday around 10am and on Friday around 3pm I was on my way to the hospital.
  • I have an "Induction" massage this morning, hoping it encourages LO to make an appearance. If not, I'm looking forward to a nice massage for my aches and pains!
  • It could be my water leaking, evening primrose oil leaking, super moist discharge, or swamp ass...
    ?!

I am a bit crampy but just here and there and nothing too painful. I hoooope this goes somewhere! 40 and 2 today...
  • @Pontot31 in your experience it takes days if the cervix isn't opened at all? I'm being induced tomorrow night if she doesn't come before...I'm was 2 cm last time he checked a week ago I'm hoping I've changed more over the past week..

    41 weeks today...
Absolutely nothing new to report. I'm going to try drinking balsamic vinegar later because I'm bored and have nothing else to do

Edited because it only posted part of my post..
  • My mom just told me she might be coming down with a cold, but she's not sure if it's allergies or not. If it where anyone else, I'd tell her not to come if I have the baby and she still has those symptoms. Would it be safe enough just to have her wear one of those masks and use a lot of hand sanitizer? My mom is very sensitive and I don't think she would understand if I told her she couldn't see the baby. Believe me, the baby's safety is more important to me than her feelings, but if it's safe I'd prefer to spare them ...

    What would you do?

My mom is getting over a cold, (just the cough is left), and I let her come. She's been really cautious to not breathe on him, wash hands often, cover her face when she coughs, etc. I think your mom would understand if you wanted her to do all that - she did have newborns at one point and should understand not wanting them to get sick.

Good ideas! I know she'd understand those precautions ... Although I wouldn't count too much on her parenting instincts (to the point where I don't think she'll be babysitting alone). She was a teen mom and my grandma did most of the work when I was a newborn. We are on good terms now but definitely have a rocky history.

When I was induced it took 3 rounds of gel at 4 hours each to get something started. With the last round I took a sleeping pill. I woke up about 5-6 hours later with contractions. She still wasn't born until about 20 hours after that.
Low and slow is what you want if you're not dilated.
Being at a 2 it might take less time. But it's better to go in expecting it to be a long process because it can be very discouraging.
  • @Pontot31 ok thanks for the advice I know no one whose been through it and want to have a small idea of what to expect!

I'm not sure where you are (pre-birth, hospital, or home afterwards) but if you're concerned maybe ask a medical professional like your pediatrician, how they feel about it and what precautions would be good to take.  It might make you feel more comfortable and if they are really concerned, it might spare your mom's feelings a bit to say the Dr. said no.

Thanks. It's still a hypothetical because I'm not in labor yet but I'm 41+1 so it could happen at any time. I have an appointment on Monday and I ask my doc then if she's still feeling ill.
  • This might sound stupid but today I either peed myself twice or my waters leaking. Went to the bathroom underwear were wet and I couldn't quite tell if it smelt sweet or like pee..... Same thing happened just now. On my third pair of underwear with a pad to try and get a better idea. If it happens again I'll just head to l&d to be safe.

This happened to me two weeks ago.  I called the midwife and mine told me to stick on a pad like you're doing and see if I'm still leaking.  For me it stopped and turned out to be pee/discharge which was embarrassing, but maybe something is happening for you. Good luck!

This was me this morning. Mixture of evening primrose oil, pee, and sweat. :\

If you are soaking a pad then it could be your water. It isn't always just one gush like in the movies. Good luck!
  • Been having pelvic pain and pressure for days, weeks really, but it has gotten a vit morenintense in the last 2 days. Also peeing became super difficult 2 days ago, like baby is blocking the way or something. Today achy joints evwrywhere and flu like symptoms with minimal cramping. Been going to the bathroom a lot but not exactly loose stools. Woke up with back pain which lasted for a couple of minutes but hasnt returned al day. Seriously hoping this is going somewhere...39 weeks 4 days and couting...
  • Update

Been in labor for about 13 hours now. Still only dilated to one. Uped petocin about 3 times already. Contractions every 2 mins and very strong. Can't have an epidural until at least 4 cm.

I had my sweep on Wed (39+3) at 2pm. I started having contractions within the hour, and had Rhys by midnight. That being said, I feel like his birth was a bit unusual for how fast it happened. Still, I was told to expect the contractions and that they would probably die off, and to expect labor within 24 HR after the sweep. Good luck!!

  • ive been waking up in the middle of the night with severe burning in my lower back, right above my butt. It'll continue all morning and it will be hard to walk but getting on all fours on my birth ball helps. It was occasionally come back during the day/ early evening. Could this be a sign of back labor? Last night I had extreme pressure in my lower abdomin and back for hours as well, but I was able to sleep it off.
  • Still pregnant... sigh.

Same here...being induced tonight and totally freaking out!
  • I had what I thought was a contraction last night. Is it normal to just get one at a time sometimes,? Now I'm thinking of may have been gas. But my stomach got all hard and funky looking.

I'm pretty sure contractions woke me up last night. It felt like cramping and I've had some this morning as well. Although, nothing too intense or in a definite pattern. I'm due tomorrow so hoping this leads to the real deal since I haven't had any until last night. I've noticed my stomach gets really hard too! And I think you can just have one contraction as well.
