Ugh. Just started CD 1, after my third failed IUI. Hubs has requested a couple months off from the constant dr visits and meds and I don't blame him. I've been a nutcase for the last 6 months and after the failed IVF and now three failed cycles on clomid +IUI, now we're starting to strongly consider adoption. We definitely want a family and more than 1 child, so it makes sense to us to start down that road as well, while always hoping a bfp will miraculously happen on its own. Anyone have similar thoughts? Has anyone started down to road of adoption while having trouble ttc?

Edited to add my answer for qotw: I'm originally from Florida, and we have lived in China and Oman (Middle East). We also travel a lot! We're currently in South Africa on holiday and I am reasonably sure that's the furthest from the states I've been.

You guys, I was 13 DPO yesterday and kept thinking that AF would show up every time I went to the bathroom. When she didn't, I tested before bed. BFP!! Confirmed this morning with a FRER and clearblue digital. Our infertility consult was scheduled for Dec 3rd. I can't even believe it. 18 months TTC, 15 months after loss. The biggest things I was doimg differently this cycle were acupuncture and no coffee or alcohol.

Thanks for all the support on this board - I don't think I would have made it through months and months of disappointment without you! I really hope you all get your BFPs soon!!!

And a huge congrats to you @AL_TwinCities !!! You give me hope!!

  • @AL_TwinCities Congrats!!! H&H 9 months to you!

I went for my exam today at CD 16 and I have one 22mm follicle and so I will have an IUI tomorrow morning. I was kinda bummed since the goal was to produce more than one follicle. I was told that 100mg of clomid is still a low dose and if I get a BFN this cycle they will bump it up to 150mg. I also brought up my concern that I began spotting at 9DPO and only had an 11 day LP last cycle. Most likely I will begin prometrium on Sunday. For those who have been on prometrium, what have your experiences been? FX for everyone!!

  • So I just got a call from the doctor's office saying that according to my blood work I already ovulated!?!? The IUI is cancelled for tomorrow. I am beyond frustrated right now. We did have sex last night, and will again tonight, but the lack of monitoring I experienced during this cycle is not excusable. If this isn't our cycle I will make sure to advocate for myself next cycle since it seems like you have to speak up for yourself!

  • @lily55d I'm done with the letrazole. Not that I had crazy side effects with clomid but I felt off. Letrazole--absolutely nothing. It was great!

@erica0901 what? How does that even happen? I would be so pissed. When's the last time you got monitored? Were you taking clomid or letrazole and when did you finish that? The good thing is that you had sex so maybe it worked after all.
  • @Drove2U I was not monitored this cycle which was the problem! I took 100mg of clomid days 2-6. Last cycle I was monitored more often so I have no clue why I was not this cycle. They also did a post coital test today which they said actually looked really good and the doctor said we had good timing, so you never know!

  • If for some reason it doesn't work out this month but I hope it does you should make sure you're monitored. You're putting these drugs in your body and then possibly missing timing you know? I think you're only allowed to take clomid 6 times. I could be wrong.
  • @Drove2u I 100% agree and will definitely be speaking up if I get my BFN this go around.

  • Well I had my monitoring today I'm on CD12 and there was 1 follicle measuring 16.9mm. We were told to BD Sunday-Tuesday. He did talk next steps since this is my 4th cycle on clomid. He said the 1st one didn't count because it wasn't the right dose. But it's either take a break or get a referral to a REI for another opinion. So DH and I will have to talk about what we want to do.

    @AL_TwinCities YAY!! How exciting! Congratulations!

@erica0901 Ugh. How frustrating. Since your PCT showed good results and your RE said you had good timing, you likely didn't need the IUI anyway. So, don't lose hope! FX this round worked!!

I've been so stressed at work the last few days, I'm thinking I've ruined my chances this month. I've been trying to work on stress management but it's not working and it's turning into a vicious cycle of stress where I'm stressed and then stressed at being stressed. I'm so disappointed in myself. My husband tried to give me a good pep talk, and he said some incredible things. But, I still can't help but think my reaction to stress is my fertility problem. My reaction to estrace isn't making it any better. I get so pissed off about the tiniest of things, which is so out of character for me and only making my stress worse. Ugh...now I know that, if I have to do IVF, I will be taking as much time off as my boss allows. I want to live in a complete no stress zone for the implantation window.

    Edited to fix Erica's tag.

  • Well I just left my CD10 ultrasound and my follicles are still really small. 5-6 of the am between 6mm & 7mm. I am going to continue my follistim injections and go back on Tuesday to see if any of them continue growing. Pretty disappointed with my progress so far.
Has anyone else had cycles like this with slow growing follies? Did you make it to IUI and if so what cycle day?

Good luck to everyone else with weekend appointments! Hope you get good news

  • Ultrasound on Tuesday, probably IUI on Wednesday.  I keep forgetting to do my ovulation tests, since I took so much time off while DH was doing his testing - they give me a trigger shot, but I tend to ovulate early so I don't want to miss it!  I tested later on in the day today (but I slept really late too, so I guess that's ok) and thankfully it was negative.  Here's hoping I have some nice big follicles on Tuesday!  I'm already planning for next month though, since my app says I'll be ovulating right before Christmas, and DH is planning on going to our hometown to visit his family.

Has anyone ever read the book The Infertility Survival Handbook by Elizabeth Swire Falker?  I downloaded a sample of it, and what I read made me feel a little better.  Part of me is convinced that I will never conceive a child naturally, and reading even the beginning of someone's journey like that really helped.  I am planning on buying the whole thing once DH gets paid.
