June 2016 Moms

What absurdly expensive baby item are you lusting over?!

Mine is a mamas and papas urbo 2 stroller.
Also, would love one of those metal bratt decor cribs but having flashbacks of my son plastering his cheap wood crib with diaper contents and eating the railings. Ugh.
What are you drooling over??

Re: What absurdly expensive baby item are you lusting over?!

  • I was always a stroller/diaper bag girl with my other kiddos but since discovering the deep dark world of baby carriers and Tulas I've got a custom carrier made from a gorgeous rockabilly wrap in the works that I'm waiting to have finished and sent over from Poland!

  • This $700 babywearing wrap. I had to unfollow all the weavers I like on Facebook because they were making me crazy with pretty wraps I couldn't reasonably afford...but now with the new baby coming I feel like I can justify flipping my stash for some new ones?? But probably not this expensive, if I want to, y'know, not have my mortgage foreclosed on.

@Emztron500 That is beautiful! What brand is it if you don't mind me asking? And I thought I was crazy with my wrap conversion being around $500 haha
  • The baby jogger city select stroller as a double. It's just way out of our budget. I have to get a double but also know I can't afford that one :(

Haha if there's one thing I've learned from the babywearing world it's that no matter what you've got, there's always something more expensive to lust after! This is an Artipoppe wrap. Google them at your own risk. They're amazing. You need to post pics of your wrap conversion when it's done! Is it a Tula or just being done by an independent converter?

I found the crib of my dreams online for $400. It wasn't available in store & when I looked up shipping it was going to come to $900!!! For a CRIB! My heart broke a bit that day...

(ETA: This is Canadian, too. Devastating, lol)

I will have to look it up and keep that in mind ;)
I'm having Natibaby Tattooed (I attached a stock photo of it) converted by Madame Googoo and it is complete love since I'm very much into pin-up and that is the ONLY way I could talk DH into it lol but I do currently have a stash of Tulas I desperately NEED to get rid of because I have a Lennylamb that is all I ever use with my 7 month old (the Uppa stroller was a waste!)
  • Ha I always think of the guy from "the hangover" when I hear baby wearing :)

  • The Uppa baby Vista double stroller. lol It sooo silly that I want this so bad because I already have the Joovy too qool and a Stokke scoot v2 that both are like new condition and its not that I don't like them (They are both great) I just have a bit of a stroller obsession. I think Im just going to sell my 2 and get the Uppa baby Vista.
  • I want the HALO bassinet swivel sleeper so bad! It might have to be a Christmas present to myself and baby. It will make sleeping and night time nursing sessions so simple.

I want the Uppa Baby Vista too!! We are planning to have our babes close together so I want a stroller that can convert to a double.

I told my husband when he went on a guy's trip to Vegas this year that he can't say anything when I want a luxury stroller... So hopefully I'll get my way! ;)

I got my first Uppa from the Ellen Mother's Day show and bought it again last time (though it's been replaced by the carrier as stated above) and it is a phenomenal stroller that I would recommend to anyone!

@MaMa~MoOre that is going to be amazing!!! I would love to get a custom wrap conversion someday...maybe. I just bought a wrap conversion Emeibaby though as my new splurge. I'm loving it! I went to the store thinking I was going to get a Tula or LL but the Emeibaby seemed like the most versatile for carrying both a newborn and my toddler.

I think thats a very reasonable exchange! lol Seriously the 2015/16 looks amazing. And I also love that it can grow with a family, makes the price so worth it. Now I must decide what color! lol

Ohhhh how fun! We went to visit family over the summer and I left my stroller behind trying to avoid lugging stuff we don't need around. I was so wrong. We needed a stroller so I got a gently used Uppa baby Vista off of craigslist. It was awesome! I gave it to my SIL who had just had a baby before we left to go back home. That was a 2012 I believe and it held up so well. Looked great, handled great. I think the 2015/16 will be worth the cost.

  • I have had my eye on the Stokke Xplory since before I was pregnant, but I decided I'll "settle" for the Quinny Moodd ;). I'm not feeling so bad about it, though, after hearing about $500 baby wearing wraps!
  • I just spent a good hour or so looking all of these lovely things up on YouTube... There goes my budget! Also, totally overwhelmed by all of the baby carriers but I just want to snuggle with all of the babies!

I really wanted a mamaroo. Maybe that's a stupid FTM thing, but one of my gfs has one and she swears by it. Now I think I just want a baby carrier though! Because snuggles.

Baby carriers don't have to be expensive! The first few months I used a Moby wrap that I bought used for $30 (Cdn) and it was awesome. You could totally find a Mamaroo used too for a good deal. My daughter never liked being in a carrier when we were just sitting around the house, although we used it every time we left the house and went for lots of walks. When we were at home, having a swing (I had a Fisher Price one that was really nice but quite a bit cheaper than a Mamaroo) was a lifesaver. Sometimes you just want to put down the dang baby, lol.

Here's me and my little baby in my cheapo starter carrier <3

@Emztron500 I've been using the bamboo blend lenny since my DS was around a month and he's fit into it wonderfully and I see no end in sight lol... I really LOVE the LL bamboo blend, it's soooo soft and breaths so well.

@on3in2015 I can honestly say I see no differences in my original 2009 and my newer 2014, I would say it's a good idea to just search on Craigslist for whatever looks like it was well taken care of and a good deal ;) don't mind the model year

It was an amazing experience and such a God sent gift, hubby took me so we got double of everything too!!!!

@SweetMamaJune We splurged for the mamaroo off of Craigslist this last pregnancy and it was all DS would sleep in. It was used non-stop for around a month and a half, so not a long time but it was worth us since we knew we were going to have one more and could re-sell it for what we paid on CL.

  • I thought my desire for a Lillebaby carrier was a lot.  I had no idea there were so many high end items.

  • 4moms stroller...it's $890. I love it because it closes at the push of a button, movement charges your phone, infant carrier capability, and dashboard to track fitness. I'm torn between this and the Britax-B travel system. I'm a FTM. Any suggestions on what stroller is best for ftm who wants versatility.

I've heard a lot of poor reviews of this breaking and them having less than helpful customer service.

I hadn't heard of this one before! Is it new? I was looking for a bassinet with my ds who is 1.5yrs now and don't remember seeing this one.  I just need to make sure my bed isn't too high and then I will be getting one of these as well!! Love it!!

They actually ended up changing a lot on the newest model. If I only had one child I would go with the older model but the new one has a newly designed rumble seat that faces forward and back. It also folds way differently which is amazing because the fold was terrible on the older models. The new attachment are pretty impressive as well. They haven't really updated the look much though.

  • @eyelinek I really wanted the 4moms stroller too, but my hesitation is that it does not convert to a double.

I don't know what your future plans are, but I decided if I was going to spend $900 on a stroller it had to grow with us (we want kids close in age).

I just couldn't imagine buying that and then having to get a double less than 2 years later.

Also- I totally want the Halo bassinet and the MamaRoo seat... The people at my shower are going to laugh in my face at my registry!!

  • Ugh. For me it's the rocking chair/glider situation. The ones I want are all over $600! But I needsssss them!
  • Stokke Sleepi crib. One grand or so, so it's ridiculous.

By the way Uppa Baby may be worth your buck- I had their g-luxe stroller and had the best customer service from them. They once even replaced the entire stroller free of charge overnight when mine broke!

I agree, this is always a number one need, no questions asked, and is absolutely a necessity for me and breastfeeding!
