Our girls cried when they lost their pacis so we attached them to little organic blankies so they wouldn't easily fall between the crib rungs and would be easier to find. The ones we got are, I think, from Green Sprouts and had detachable teething rings so they have little loops that attach to pacis. Obviously this won't work until the baby is old enough to find the blankie and manipulate it around to get the paci in her mouth. It's probably a suffocation hazard before then anyway.
No wonder bumpers aren't included in most of all the bedding sets. Yet it's expenvise to purchase on its own!! I had one with my first. I figured it was to protect baby's little legs and arms getting stuck and of course decoration, But I sure never thought of SIDS!! I have one on my registry and will be deleting now!
No bumpers, and no crib skirts for us. We had an incident when my son was 8 months old. An electrical outlet caught on fire in the middle of the night and his skirt and bumper by the wall went up in flames. Hubby got DS out of there so fast. There was little damage done and baby was unharmed. But I will never again use them. We also keep LO in our room for the first year. Call me paranoid.
Holy crap! I'm happy to hear everyone was safe! I don't have a crib skirt on right now, and have been stressing out about it. Where her crib is, would be right against an outlet, so I'm thinking I'm ok without one!!
As for bumper pads, I used them when my kids were able to sit up on their own, but they just ended up ripping them off. So I feel like they were a waste. I probably won't use them again.
