  • Thanks for all the responses!! I'm glad I'm not the only one holding back. The most I've had is 3 beers and I was SOO hungover. It was over a long span but I felt like I went overboard haha

@mishmardhiono I don't want LO to see us drunk either! I vividly remember hating my parents when they would drink. I never want my child to feel that way.

I had this in the pregnant again thread but didn't want to hyjack the original poster's topic so I have moved it.. Also, I apologize for never formally introducing myself, I'm a pretty socially awkward person so I guess I thought I could just jump right in here buuuut you guys have a pretty tight community which is awesome, and I should have had more respect for that, I'm sorry for that! :) ...So to introduce myself (sorry, I'm a couple months late..) my name is Ashley (obviously), I'm 28, I'm from East Tennessee, and my baby's name is Adalyn - Addy for short. She was due at the beginning of July, but was born a week early at the end of June. Ive enjoyed being part of conversations with you all so far! It's cool to get other moms' perspectives on all these different topics that we're all going through at the same time :) Hopefully that makes up for my lack of initial introduction..

    Anyway! Here's my question:
Has anyone with Mirena experienced pregnancy symptoms? I have been nauseous the past three nights like I was for this last pregnancy, have had some food aversions, and some cravings..but that could be normal, right? I'm afraid to test to see if I'm pregnant..surely it's just side effects, right? It's freaking me out.. Thanks!

eta - Also, I've had it in now for about 2 months and never experienced this til now.. I'll make an appointment tomorrow to ask my dr about it, but just wanted to ask what you guys had been through with it too..
  • My husband and I drink about 3 or 4 times a week. We occasionally get to the point where we feel tipsy/drunk (5 drinks max [I have a high tolerance for alcohol]) but never even close to the point where we don't feel like we could take care of our LO. I also don't get hangovers based on that amount of alcohol, so I'm not worried about middle of the night or morning. I think it just depends on your comfort level, but err on the side of caution.

  • Sorry I can't answer your Mirena question, @ashleymc09

We just got LO a Mam teether which has a handle on one end and a cold, liquid filled other end. It's great for his teething pain but he flails it around and bashes his poor little face.

I say, let him learn, he's ok. DH says it's irresponsible to let your baby hit himself in the face.

What do you ladies do when your kid gets wound up with a toy?

Our LO is pretty violent but seems to love it, if she bangs her head hard enough whilst crawling she will cry so o figure if she's not crying whacking herself then it doesn't matter, if she does hurt herself then we will soothe her and let her get back to it. I see hurting yourself as a part of development, actions reactions consequences etc But obviously within reason. We wouldn't let her seriously injure herself though
  • @virginiaunicorn11 My LO hits himself in the head while nursing all the time with the teather ring necklace I have. Drops it on himself while holding it up, etc. I say weigh pros/cons and I'd personally would want the help with the teething pain most of all
  • I use the Sophie the giraffe Teether and a cool rattle/Teether I found on Amazon that LO loves called the Manhattan toy winkel rattle. He doesn't go crazy with his toys hitting himself bc he just wants to eat everything. The Sophie I watch bc I don't want him poking himself in the eye. I normally give him the smaller Sophie giraffe with the handles though.
  • I'm glad this is flame free because I feel silly asking - do you ladies put teething toys in the fridge or freezer?

LO has two teething toys we put in the freezer. At first he was not to keen on the cold but now loves them! We also have an infantino teether that when lo bites down on vibrates, he really loves this one!
  • @swaugh14 our pedi said fridge only

I have two teethers, and one says fridge only, no freezer. So I put them both in the fridge. I also have some notion in my head that stuff from the freezer will be TOO cold. I mean, when we are icing a sprained joint or something, aren't we 'supposed' to wrap our ice packs in towels or whatever so the super frozen cold whatever isn't right against the skin?

  • Mine are in the fridge because the back of te package said no freezer
  • My kid doesn't bonk himself in the head with toys, but he tries to suffocate himself. He has an elephant lovie that he puts over his face and he puts the burp cloth over his face. We move it and he does it again. He thinks it's hysterical.
  • ^^ my kid does this. All the time pulling blankets over his face, or trying to eat them.

  • Well I know not to let him suffocate himself, at least! Babies, man...

    @mellymar Sorry! :p

ETA I had added the picture of DS with his cactus face, but the new text box ate it. Womp womp.
  • @Sammy K your stories kill me! Hilarious
  • I think he's trying to play peak a boo, but he's stressing us out. No lovies during sleepy time for him.....
  • Stupid Bump technology.

Anyway, yes, my DH is ridiculously overprotective of his little boy. Thank you for validating my exasperation, ladies! Sammy K, you need to write a book. You're hilarious!!
  • So happy for you @Sammy K !

So LO has a small cut on her finger, either from scratching it or biting it. It seems like it's not healing because her hand is constantly in her mouth. Is there anything I can do to help it heal?
  • I second @dancegurl1118 I remember reading your posts @Sammy K and praying for you and your LO. You ended up cutting your diet down to the bare bones right? Did you end up determining what was giving her such a hard time? I'm so happy things have turned around!

@Sammy K your post made me laugh out loud (the first one) and the second one made me so happy! I'm so glad that both you and your LO are happy!

@KarasTwin my baby does this too!
  • @hoodoll82 Maybe lanolin at night? Is she re-opening it or is it not healing? Usually babies heal crazy fast.
  • This broken quote issue on the Bump sucks. Anyway. @Sammy K it just seems like it's not healing. Her finger is always in her mouth while she self soothes at night, maybe I can sneak in after she falls asleep and put some lanolin on it!
  • Hi ladies, does your countries have a supply issue on formula? In Australia there is no formula left, if we see some on the shelves we have to buy up because it could be 2 months before its back on the shelves. It's all being bought by Chinese and being sold on eBay for 4x the price. Is it only Australia having this problem or are other western countries suffering it too? It's so stressful if you are down to 2 tins..
