  • 4 month shots today. Anticipating some pretty bad sleep ahead of us.
  • Was up 5 times between 8 and 12. Then, slept from 12-5. Best 5 hours of sleep ever.
  • @virginiaunicorn11 !!! Woot woot!!!! That's fantastic news! I'm really jazzed for you

  • Baby is 19 weeks and I think he is in the 4 month regression. For the past few nights he wakes up every single time we put him down in his crib. He had been sleeping fine for weeks in there. Other things come to mind that may be affecting his sleep. 1. He is teething and 2. We just moved so he may still need to get used to his new surroundings. Last night I was desperate and put him to sleep in our bed right about 4:00am and he slept like a rock! I refuse to co-sleep!

  • Long live the swaddle! She slept 7 hours, ate, and is still asleep 4 hours later. I ordered a Merlin but at this point my plan is to transition her from the swaddle sometime after kindergarten.

    @ChardeeMacDennis yesss!!!!

  • Ladies!! My LO has been a crap sleeper for probably way longer than any sleep regression or leap or whatever makes us feel better about babies being babies. He was up 7x per night for about a month or more. Every. Night.

And just magically, it's down to 2-3. I haven't done much to help things along - just kind of using instinct to try to soothe him rather than feed him every time.

There is hope. It does get better. Even if you have a sleep terrorist, who's always been a sleep terrorist.

That's great! My sister has a 2 1/2 month old who was a crappy sleeper. He is doing so much better. But now the roles are reversed, my little guy keeps waking up at night!!!

  • @mellymar good luck!!!! I hope it works for you. The first day was rough, but the second day was the first time she STTN.
  • Happy to hear of the progress that is being made, good luck to everyone starting transitions and hang in there to all those mamas battling sleep regression!!

  • Why isn't she sleeping?! I'm about to have a mental breakdown. She went down at 7 like normal and has now been up since 1030 cryibg. It's almost 130 here and I have to be up in 4 hours for class. I want to cry
  • After a one night reprieve we were back to "two hour MOTN party time" last night. Except, bonus: she can now fully roll over in the crib, so I can stick her back in there, but as soon as she gets trapped on her belly she starts to scream and I need to go roll her back over for her to settle herself to sleep. Sigh. I hope she figures out how to turn her head and sleep on her belly soon. That will be so much easier.

My Ferber book came yesterday so I'm going to start it today...but I want to read the whole thing (and have dh read the whole thing) before we start to use any of the training strategies. Targeting Thanksgiving weekend for that since we'll have 4 days off work in a row.
  • How'd it go, @mellymar ? You beat your end of October goal! Woot!

@katyertl welcome back, lady! I'm so sorry LO is doing that. Can you put her in a swing and nap on the couch? That's what we were doing between 4:00-6:00 for a while. Not ideal, but at least I could nap a bit. Hang in there, this too shall pass!

This was us last week. I started giving him the paci on his belly and putting my hand on his back. He started falling asleep on his belly. I still have to do this the first time he rolls, but now he sleeps all night like that!
  • So our plan is to push up LOs bedtime a bit each day this week in advance of daylight savings time. But she's been so utterly frustrated and cranky in the evenings, DH last night was like "please put her to bed at normal time. We can start tomorrow". I have a feeling the whole week is gonna go like this :/

Thanks gal! LO did pretty well, he went to bed about 745p and briefly woke up around 9 but fell back asleep after I put his paci back in. Then as far I know he was good until 5am, when he woke up and would not settle himself even with his paci. So I went and made him a bottle and by the time I was done, of course he had fallen back asleep. He woke back up for good just before 7.

So, pretty close to his normal nighttime routine with a couple of small manageable hiccups. Pissed off at DH, tho

How did your night go? 2-3 wakeups again? Better? Worse?

  • I am in genuine awe of all you ladies who have such a schedule that you can adjust by 10 minutes each day. Amazing!

I've finally got a "routine" where I can Usually predict when LO will go down, give or take an hour, and I'm feeling pretty good about that, lol. (As I've said ad nauseum on here, sorry.)

I think after daylight savings, (LO and I are visiting my Grandma, with my parents - DH isn't going. I've just accepted that I will not be sleeping), we will work on an actual nightly routine of bath, book, bed. It's been challenging because I never know when to start the bath, since it can often/always be too late or too early. I think I will start it at 6:40, with the goal of having him asleep in the 7:00-7:15 range eventually. So maybe by spring, I can join you in the 10 minute adjustments!

I plan, and LO laughs and laughs. And by that I mean, he screams and witches. :-)
  • 6:00am and I was shopping at Amazon. Just ordered me the Merlin sleep suit because this kid refuses to sleep unswaddled!

  • I say go for it! What's the worst that could happen? She not sleep-- it sounds like you are already there :)

I will say it took 2-3 nights for the magic to actually work since they get used to waking up so often, so give it time.

Thanks girl!!!! It's been a while :) school is taking up way too much of my free time
  • @virginiaunicorn11 I'm with you in the sense that I have no nap routine. You sound like you're doing way better than us on that front. Right when I think we have one, LO switches it up on me. Yesterday he barely napped.

The ped today says he sleeps so long at night he doesn't need to nap during the day. Makes sense, and I figured that's why he barely naps, but I can tell ya... It wasn't quite what I wanted to hear. Oh well.

ETA if I could get my own shit together and actually sleep at night, it would be fine

  • We love the Merlin!
  • We STTN last night...no extended party time, though she did roll around for about 45 minutes from 2:45-3:30 while I watched her on the monitor worried about her winding up on her belly.  This seems to happen always right after I get up to pump (just to take the edge off my engorgement).  I think I might wake her a bit when I do that...I need to stop doing that I guess.  I pump in the bathroom right next to her nursery.

And then this morning she was rolling around in the crib while DH watched her, and she rolled to her belly...and then from belly to back for the first time (yay!).  So I guess I don't actually need to worry about her rolling onto her belly in there.  Apparently she's capable of rolling herself back over (though I have noticed that at night she can easily roll to her side but hasn't rolled to her belly - I think it takes too much effort for her when she's sleepy.  She seems to like sleeping on her side though).

  • I still haven't put LO in the crib for the night yet. The couple of times I've put him in there for a nap he falls asleep perfectly fine but when I come in to check on him he has limbs sticking out of the bars. The first time it was his arm, the next time if was both of his legs and my mom has seen the same thing when she's put him down for a nap in his crib. I'm worried he will jerk in his sleep and accidentally break an arm or leg or hurt himself somehow. Until I find someway to either get him to stay inside his crib completely or I can put my worries to rest he is beside me in her bassinet! You can see his little arm hanging through the bars in this picture :( after this I picked him up and moved him into the bassinet!
  • @LaurenAnn0405 He is definitely not going to break his own arm, but would breathable crib bumpers put you at ease?

  • @LaurenAnn0405 have you considered mesh bumpers?
  • @ChardeeMacDennis @Sjeff0816 thanks ladies! I had seen them a long time ago but completely forgot about them! I might have to go this weekend and get a set so that he can go in his crib (he really is too big for the bassinet). Thanks for reminding me I appreciate it!
  • LO is on her fifth nap of the day, and we're about an hour out from bedtime. This could get ugly. She's just exhausted today. Wish me luck tonight. :-SS
  • So usually lo would eat/stay on boob for 50 minutes- 1 hour before I put her down passed out. Obviously she was only sucking because she could so I started stopping after 30 or so mins because she's not actually eating anymore. But she's still asleep when I put her down.. But she's been waking up a few mins after and once we get her back to sleep she does it like 2 more times before being out. She does that at nap time too sometimes where she will wake after putting her down but I don't know why she's doing it with bedtime now :( babies are so complicated. This is probably what I get for rocking her to sleep.. I ordered that crib aquarium thing and it will be here tomorrow so maybe that will help. Any one else having issues all Of a sudden?
  • @caitlincunn I was, but thanks to @Sammy K and @Sjeff0816 I started ferberizing, and it's really working! Normally LO would wake up every half hour or 15 minutes, and today she took 2 solid naps that were over an hour. She started to whine a little, but fell right back asleep.
