OK, I'll be the one to throw it out there. I'm also a little put out when people bring faith into a TTC discussion. Saying something along the lines of God will provide a child when we are meant to have one feels a little too much like saying any woman who hasn't been able to conceive or may never conceive isn't considered worthy by God, or that someone who experiences a loss was handed that loss by God. It might be why some people are questioning the religious aspect.
That's JMO. Good luck with your TTC journey.
Totally agree with this although it really wasn't the basis of my questioning. I was giving the OP the benefit of the doubt in that she wasn't asserting that it's "God's plan" if some of us aren't successful since that would be incredibly presumptuous & frankly horrible. I guess I'm just wondering what the relevance was at all (a label? A differentiator? A search for the like-minded?) since there was no further detail provided. PPs who seemed offended by our questions in some way have also not provided any explanation, opting instead to fling hysterical accusations like "since when is faith not allowed in GTKY?!" (No one said that) or that it's "wrong to say one's Christian" (No one said that).
I was just asking what the point was. Still don't have a good answer. :-S
Hi, I'm One Foot & my hobbies include Netflix, wine, and gumbo and I only drink martinis on Fridays! I also love the color blue and "The Perfect (Anything)" movies on LMN.
Welcome!! I'm a Christian also, and I believe God will bless us. It may be through getting pregnant, or adoption, or any other route He will see fit for us. It may be that we won't have any children by any route, and there are other plans for our lives. But hello, and best of luck. Hoping for a short and sweet stay for you.

Hello everyone! I'm a Christian & if I didn't have God to get me through everyday, especially TTC, I would be even more bat shit crazy than I already am I just think, what's the point in life if you don't have something to believe in? Whatever it may be, I hope we all have short stays here & we are blessed. By God or whoever or whatever you believe in! Good luck ladies!
& I love to add what I do. I'm a rancher. It's a dying breed in America, especially with women. I am SO proud so I might throw that around like OP adding she's a Christian lol

I totally agree with the second part of your post but the first, not so much... Just saying. I'm not a Christian but have very strong faith. I just don't open with,
"Hi. I'm TTC after multiple losses but don't worry, I'm a Chosen Person."
That just seems irrelevant to me. I'm proud of that, along with a bunch of other personal facts.
Also, OP... As Christian newlyweds, why were you on birth control? Doesn't G-d want you to abstain until marriage and then "be fruitful and multiply." ?

wow, way to apply a stereotype. I'm a Christian, I am bi-sexual, I had premarital sex with my husband and lived together for 2 years before getting married, and was on birth control. Being a Christian is much more than outdated legalistic standards and stereotypes.

Agree. I can't imagine meeting someone IRL and leading with my religious background for no apparent reason. Also, given the fact that OP hasn't come back to address or clarify, I'm not thinking the proclamation was meant to be inclusive. (I can only guess since we were given no additional information). What seemed initially confusing now rubs me the wrong way. It's off-putting.

That doesn't mean they're like the Duggars or Catholics. Maybe they're ready to "go forth and multiply" now, but weren't before? Not fair to assume just because they're christian they dont believe in birth control. And "go forth and multiply" is part of a bible verse, one of the very few that talk about pregnancy, it's not a commandment against using contraception.

I'm sorry, but I can't help but understand that you are implying that Catholics believe in outdated legalistic standards and stereotypes? As a Catholic who knows and understands her faith pretty damn well, I am going to have to 100% disagree. You should probably stop bad mouthing someone else's faith before you look any more ignorant.

Now who's stereotyping? Do you really think all Catholics are opposed to birth control or against pre-marital sex because most aren't, despite the church's official teachings. I don't even practice Caholicism any more and am offended at the religion being lumped in with extremists like the Duggars.
ETA: I was raised Catholic. I had premarital sex, lived with my DH before we got married and used birth control so seriously, you need to check yourself.
Apparently the sarcasm font is not coming across well on my keyboard. Just so that we are all clear about how I feel about these issues:
OPs sn is goforthandmultiply so I was using a little bit of snark by quoting the actual verse that says to "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth..." Whilst implying that I am well-versed in the Old Testament. Therefore, I am not against either Christians or Catholics… I've already said that I am not against agnostics or atheists either. I'm all inclusive. Any religion or non-, has nothing to do with success in TTC in my opinion.
I brought up birth control because it says in her original post " we trust in the Lord to provide when it is His will." Does nobody else see the irony here? I'm not against people of religion using birth control. I was simply noting the irony.
LGBTQ community: I am 100% a supporter. For goodness sake's, I live in Massachusetts. We were the first state to legalize gay marriage and not only am I very proud of that, but I happen to have same-sex couples that are legally married within my own family.
I am NOT... I repeat I am not, will not, and never will be bashing anybody for their religion or lack there of on TB. So back off of the Catholics!

You proved my point. I noticed there were a few Catholics on the board and wondered how long it would take for someone to jump down my throat about that comment. Congratulations! So it's ok the stereotype a Christian as not believing in birth control, but if they're Catholic (which catholics are the ones who have a super strict policy against that, and before you get huffy and puffy, catholic hospitals wont even perform vasectomies or tubal litigation because it goes against the catholic belief). But bravo! It's only ok to stereotype against certain things but not others. Only proved my point.

Nobody said it was ok? Girlfriend, seriously...take a seat. Besides, Catholicism is a branch of Christianity. Bravo, yourself! Each comment becomes more hypocritical than the last. No. Your statement was "that doesn't mean they're like the Duggars or Catholics." Sounds a lot like you're saying it's ok to judge them but not OP, because she's Christian. Makes no sense and this response is back peddling and trying to justify your original statement.
wow, way to apply a stereotype. I'm a Christian, I am bi-sexual, I had premarital sex with my husband and lived together for 2 years before getting married, and was on birth control. Being a Christian is much more than outdated legalistic standards and stereotypes.
Um, so if I'm a Christian and did abstain from sex before marriage, then I ascribe to outdated legalistic standards and stereotypes? Gee, thanks. Way to not be judgmental at all.
Can I just point out the most glaring issue in this whole thread? Not a single person referred the OP to TCOYF. What has TTGP come to? Newbs are dropping the ball. [-X
kmcc14 Nice try at trying to turn the tables, but the outdated stereotype was referring to the fact that PP said...oh so sarcastically..."since you're a christian why are you on birth control". But whatever. Good luck OP.

This is exactly why I questioned OP on the vague inclusion of the Christian label. Religion can be a divisive topic so I didn't understand why she included it with no further explanation. Didn't mean to start a holy war!
Also, OP, I suspect you are long gone but read TCOYF.

So, you brought the Catholics into this to make some "point" ... which is what exactly? I can't follow this.

ETA: stupid words
I totally agree with the second part of your post but the first, not so much... Just saying. I'm not a Christian but have very strong faith. I just don't open with,
"Hi. I'm TTC after multiple losses but don't worry, I'm a Chosen Person."
That just seems irrelevant to me. I'm proud of that, along with a bunch of other personal facts.
Also, OP... As Christian newlyweds, why were you on birth control? Doesn't G-d want you to abstain until marriage and then "be fruitful and multiply." ?

Her SN is goforthandmultiply for hell sakes.

You are the only one that I find being offensive here.
Re: Christian newly weds ttc!
I was just asking what the point was. Still don't have a good answer. :-S

OP- I wish you the best of luck on your journey TTC.
