Christian newly weds ttc!

Hey girls!
My husband and I were married June 5, 2015 and are ttc baby #1, cycle #2 CD 17. We haven't been tracking when my ovulation is but stopped birth control halfway through August. According to my period app I'm estimated to be around 5DPO. We're so excited that we bought a little newborn girl onesie and a little newborn boy onesie lol. We're moving into our own home on Oct 21. So soon! We have been so blessed and we trust in the Lord to provide when it is His will.

Welcome! Glad to have you here. You'll hear it a lot so I'll just recommend looking into temping if you haven't already, as well as reading the newbie posts at the top. I hope your stay here is short!

Welcome! Just remember that it can take a healthy couple up to a year to conceive. I don't want you to get discouraged if it doesn't happen to you right away. I would definitely suggest downloading Fertility Friend and begin temping every morning to confirm ovulation.

We are in the same boat! Married on June 20th. I went off the pill in July. I feel like time is dragging though. I have started temping and I feel like it helps with my ttc anxiety. Good luck!!!

Welcome! I suggest reading the newbie thread pinned at the top of this board, and start temping and download thr Fertility Friend app to chart. Those period prediction apps aren't really accurate, and though FF isn't super cute and pretty it will give you much more accurate info and feedback. I know temping might seem like a lot of work but a lot of us have found that is more of a stress reliever. Congrats on your marriage and house

As most everyone else will say, temp! It is a lifesaver. It helps so much to relieve TTC anxiety. It can be a nerve-racking process & temping helps tremendously; for me at least. You know when you O & more of what to expect. I had no idea what I was getting myself into month 1 & 7 months later I'm still not sure sometimes :P I'm so thankful for TB & all of these ladies to chat with! FX & GL!

That's so awesome! I totally feel the same. DH and I will temp next month if we don't get a BFP before then. I hate testing early but always do because we are so excited! Thanks and same to you

Thank you! DH and I have decided to wait until next month to temp if we haven't gotten out BFP by then. We BD almost every day anyways so I think we've pretty much got it covered we're trusting in the Lord to provide when it's His will.

I was thinking the same exact thing. It never crossed my mind to add "Raised Catholic, Married A Jewish Guy" on my GTKY. Seems a bit personal IMO, not to mention irrelevant. Also, I was raised not to discuss politics or religion in public.

In any case, welcome, OP. I think there is a group for Christians if that's what you're looking for. Otherwise so confused as to why that was brought up!

Last time I checked, ALL of the GTKY questions on the WTO/WTT boards have nothing to do with TTC.... Not sure how information about a person's faith is any different.

I would happy to discuss TTC with anyone of any faith, and they are welcome to tell me what that faith is if they want.

Sorry, I think you completely misunderstood my comment, which I'll try to clarify b/c I'm on mobile, pls excuse the brevity.

I simply didn't understand what the addition of one's faith into the title meant. Was it an announcement? Was she asking us what our faith is (the nature of the GTKY)? Was it intended to differentiate herself from non-Christians or show sameness with Christians? What was the point? There was no direction here, unlike other GTKY threads that,as you pointed out, are completely unrelated to pregnancy. For example, "What book are you reading?" "what is your favorite movie?", etc.

It just seemed like a fairly random pronouncement & clearly a few of us were wondering what that had to do with anything.

No one tried to "exclude" faith discussion from GTKY, we were just looking for some direction I suppose.

For me, religion (or lack of) IS a very personal discussion & one that I probably wouldn't participate in here. Nor would I participate in a political thread, but you certainly don't see many of those, since politics tend to be very polarizing...

Yes, CM and sex are discussed here, as they are critical factors in becoming pregnant. I actually still don't discuss them since they are a too personal for me to share here. I'm more of a lurker/learner when it comes to some of the more intimate details about our bodies.

Regarding your last line, I'm certain you were not implying that my question indicated an unwillingness to discuss TTC with people of a certain faith, b/c that would frankly be baseless and patently untrue. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt there.

OP, I reiterate my welcome to you. This is a wonderfully diverse group consisting of a myriad of races and faiths & I hope you enjoy your time here.

I think that you might misunderstand where I was coming from. This wasn't a GTKY question that was posed and her Christianity wasn't mentioned in the actual post. Had she said something to the effect of "our Christianity affects TTC because we don't believe in birth control" or what not, than the addition would make sense to me. I was just confused as to why it was mentioned in the title. I have no problem discussing conception with people of any faith or agnostic/atheist people as well.

This is supposed to be an inclusive environment. An open space for people of any and all or even no faith to participate. I failed to see where Christianity has to do with this post.

Anyhow, if you didn't misunderstand me that's fine too.

I had "all faith in god" too and had a miscarriage.... Not sure what having faith in god will do for your chances to conceive, but whatever.

Guise. Your education is just a credential. I think PPs meant it's ok to include something personal and meaningful that's been a part of you for your whole life.

Like... Labyrinth fan since I was 5 TTC#1. My Bowie love is a huge part of my identity and I'm proud of my use of Labyrinth gifs on all sorts of unrelated threads.

OK, I'll be the one to throw it out there. I'm also a little put out when people bring faith into a TTC discussion. Saying something along the lines of God will provide a child when we are meant to have one feels a little too much like saying any woman who hasn't been able to conceive or may never conceive isn't considered worthy by God, or that someone who experiences a loss was handed that loss by God. It might be why some people are questioning the religious aspect.
