Hey My wife didn't post to cause such heated discussion. She was taking birth control because everyone was saying it's best to wait a few years, etc. We thought maybe it would be best. However, she and I love children and decided taking birth control wasn't what we wanted nor did we feel like it's was right in our trusting in God. (We truly don't judge those who choose to use BC) She stated that we're Christians because Christ is the foundation of our life. We had not posted back to this thread because we have been moving into our new home recently and haven't had much time for internet. We both are excited to be TTC and pray the best for all who are trying. We we'ren't trying to be rude, we we're just telling you about ourselves. She is in a college course now, and I had time to look on here if you're wondering why I'm answering. We joined this app together. I'm sorry to see everyone getting so upset. We trust God and yes even those who trust in God have sorrows. I have women in my family who have had miscarriages and who lost their baby after birth. I have seen the pain they went through and still carry and we would never say something to purposefully hurt anyone else who's gone through the heart ache. We were excited to share our TTC with others. This thread isn't what we wanted. We were wanting to share in our excitement and tell about who we are. I pray that all TTC, or who have had losses understand that and know we only wanted positive interactions with everyone. I don't believe we'll be using this app anymore, it's not healthy (in my opinion) for people to attack each other for sharing their life. We accept people for who they are. God bless you all and please don't take offense to my saying that, I'm not being rude or sarcastic. Truly, God bless you.

Thank you for what seems to be a sincere and heartfelt clarification. Wishing you both the best of luck on your journey TTC and in life. If you all decide to stick around, I'm sure that you will see that this is actually quite a good community. Yes, it can get heated at times but it can also be a very good source of support and knowledge.

Ditto from over here. Questioning =/= attacking. I personally was trying to understand where she was coming from with that and also letting her know that this is a really diverse group that doesn't discriminate based on religion whether it be unfavorably or favorably. Glad that you & your wife are in this together, this is a very inclusive environment but you will find blunt advice, varied POVs, and strong opinions. Hopefully you'll both stick around and see what we all have to offer.
OP, I think it's wonderful that you have a strong faith and that it is the foundation of your life -- and I'm sorry that this community didn't respond positively to that.
I hope our children can live in a world where they can be proud of their beliefs, no matter what those beliefs are -- Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, agnostic, atheist, or any other set of beliefs. I hope people won't shut them down for identifying so deeply with any one of those traditions, and I hope we can teach our kids to "stay in their own lane" and not judge others.
Each one of us has every right to believe and base our lives on whatever foundation we choose. No one can tell you that it's not important or relevant if it's who you are... Keep being you.

Your message, although nice and undoubtedly well-intentioned, was really unrelated to the conversation if you cared to read it carefully.
I have "cared enough" to read the conversation, along with the OP's post. Her faith is a critical part of who she is and it guides how she sees the world and makes decisions, including decisions about TTC. She believes that God plays the biggest role in this process. That's what makes her faith pertinent to a TTC board - because to her, the two are entwined completely.
Some might disagree, and that's ok, too. I just don't think we have to jump to "why did you mention your faith - it's unrelated" comments when in truth, it IS related, for HER. Maybe not for others; but for her, it's as related as a temp or an OPK.
I just think life is hard enough without strangers picking on your life choices or viewpoints, or telling you when and where you can talk about those beliefs. That goes for ALL beliefs, including those that don't believe in a higher power at all. If it's part of who you are, you should say so anytime you feel like it.
Just my $0.02, and I'm wrong about lots of things, so it's only worth about that much anyway.

See, the bolded is what I have a problem with. No one did or said any of those things. No one picked on her life choices or viewpoints, nor did anyone tell her she couldn't talk about these things. In fact, the only person who "picked on" anyone was the one who lumped Catholics in with the Duggars to be honest. You're mistaking questioning for disapproval in order to prove a point that you don't need to make. I just have little tolerance for being accused of something I haven't done, which is criticize or belittle the OP, or to tell her her views aren't welcome here. I haven't done any of that and I won't sit here and let those comments go b/c another poster might have a hard time understanding the discussion.
I really don't care what people's beliefs are. However, seeing a thread like "christian and TTC" leaves a funny taste in my mouth, because it seems to imply that these christians a) don't really want to talk to non-christians b) they may think they are better than non-christians and c) they may think they have a better chance of conceiving because God's on their side or something. Which is pretty messed up. I'd imagine if I started a thread for atheists ttc that it would draw a bit of negative attention as well.
I'm sure that's not the intention, but if your main goal is to find other christians on the board to talk to, it would make more sense to join the group than start a thread.
I can understand how someone might want to discuss with others how faith helps them through, though personally it would drive me batty if I thought my ability to conceive was in the hands of anything but chance and my and my partner's bodies. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Religion, Politics and Money are generally avoided in polite conversation. One doesn't normally introduce oneself with, "Hi, I'm a Tea Party Republican and TTC" Or "Hi, I'm really rich and TTC", etc... My guess is that OP probably lives in a location where everyone is Christian and wouldn't understand how off-putting it is to introduce yourself this way to a group of strangers who might not share your religion.

THIS. I tried to state this much earlier but you were more articulate than I was.
