Products and Purchases - October

Re: Products and Purchases - October

  • @cait7425 life saver! Takes a few times to get the hang of it but I can't believe how much it gets out! I also like that everything but the handle is dishwasher safe.
  • Loading the player...
  • Love those stackable rings :) saw some on zulily lately for 25 bucks.
Should def tell DH about this for Christmas.
  • ^^^^ good idea lady!!!
  • Yes, always the thrift store or consignment stores or garage sales (for those of you who live southern and are just now getting into weather that's comfortable for garage sales). I got a jack-o-lantern footed and long sleeved onesie (are those called onesies? Or is that word reserved for the short sleeved and no legged, torso covering only clothes?) for $.50, a similar item that said 'my first Thanksgiving' and a long sleeved onesie that came with matching pants that says 'thankful for mommy'. Also found were some cute pants and matching long sleeved onesie made of thicker, almost like thick long john material, with snowmen on it. All that stuff was from a lady who said, fill up this grocery bag and then give me $5 for it all. I had also found A&A sleep sacks (2 of them went into my bag) and Carter's hoodies for baby there, too.

I have a rule, I REALLY try to stick to it, to not buy ANY clothing more than $10. Like, my target has a clearance rack right now, I hit up for 9-12m and 12m gear, because its all the summer stuff. Not a whole lot of stuff, I don't have a whole wardrobe or anything, but I got a few days clothes squared away

So I don't know about the sleeve length, but I do know that "onesie" is trademarked by Gerber. So if it ain't a Gerber, it ain't a onesie.

But everyone calls them onesies anyway.

Well then wtf are they called?!!?? :))

  • @mellymar In the UK they call them vests.
  • I call anything that covers just the torso/arms a onesie.  The footed things are footie pajamas.  I think the technical term for onesies of other brands is bodysuits.

I have little jogging pants by "onesies" does that make it even more confusing?

  • If you post on eBay selling a onsie it gets taken down. Bodysuits!

  • Bumping this. Now that these kiddos are getting older, what new discovery have you gotten that yours loves?
  • She's not eating cereal or solids yet, but she loves her high chair! Set it up this week and I think she loves being higher up on our level while we're hanging in the kitchen.
  • The Munch Mitt has been a godsend here. Gav is getting a tooth in and biting his hands so hard that they turn red. This thing straps on his hand like a little boxing glove and he's happy for hours chomping away.

I should get this for LO!
  • @mellymar where did you find moosedrool?! We have a monkey that like that but bigger, she LOVES... Need a travel buddy though!!!

At Walmart actually. Just kinda hanging out in their small toy section. There was also a definite girl one in pink (I think an elephant?) and a definitely boy one in blue (I think a cow?). He's made by Nuby if you want to try to search online for him.

  • DH loves Christmas and wants lots of gifts under the tree. I'm Scrooge and think "she'll be 6 months, all she needs is diapers for the future!" Any suggestions? I was thinking the radio flyer wagon but that sounds like a good 1st bday gift.
  • Something for later like a wagon in a great idea. Books, wooden block set, alphabet cards or puzzle. Yes its all for later but she can look at the bright colors now and knock down block towers by spring. You might not want to buy anything yourself (too much stuff) but you might want to have a list for grandparents etc so you don't end up with more baby stuff you don't want. We are still not buying anything for our 3 year old. The 4-5 gifts he gets from family are already enough to overwhelm him. He loves the decorations, stockings, and excitement. I remember wanting gifts under the tree for his first though just like your DH. Educational things I wanted for later worked. We did wooden blocks and a stacker toy.

  • My mom says she is going to get a $100 gift card and send that and let me buy the presents, so long as they say they are from Nana (like LO will know, but whatever). I have no idwa what to get. I was thinking some of those Mega Blocks, but I have no idea otherwise. The wagon is a good idea. I'd like to have something LO can use right away and other stuff he can grow into using

I really want to get this for my LO.. I hope target still has it when we're ready to buy her Christmas gifts!

ETA - this link might be more helpful than the photo lol. https://m.target.com/p/b-zany-zoo-wooden-activity-cube/-/A-12025312
Oh and I just noticed apparently it's for 1-3 year olds..so maybe not the best thing.. :/
  • I'm eyeing this for the Christmas list, maybe from grandparents if they want to. I'm a FTM, so maybe it's just a waste of space, but it looks kinda cool.

I just put together a list for the grandparents and aunts/uncles because I need them to not buy us tons of junk! Some of these are for now, some to grow in to:
    1. Sandbox
    2. Seat to attach to back of a bike (and baby bike helmet)
    3. Play kitchen or play store
    4. Activity Center like suggested above
    4. Walker toy
    5. Pull behind puppy
    6. Wind up trucks/cars
    7. More books
    8. Waggon
    9. Blocks
    10. Shape sorter toys
    11. Stackable toys

Another idea, if you don't want to have to pick out everything exactly can you just make an amazon wish list with a bunch of stuff on it, and have her pick?
  • ^^ good idea @hudson202, but my mom is not technologically capable. I have barely taught her how to check email. And 70% of the time I have to get on the phone and walk her thru it. But the list is helpful

  • We're getting two convertible car seats...one from each set of grandparents. We may get LO a walker and some blocks. And we know people will get her clothes, small toys, etc. We travel for Christmas (at least until LO is big enough to want to stay home for Santa) so we're hoping to not have too much stuff to get back home on the plane (the carseats will be shipped directly here).
  • Best purchase of the month goes to the Graco nasalclear. The nose Frida kinda freaks me out even tho there is a filter! With LO catching his first cold it's been a godsend!

Thank you for posting this! I'm actually from the July board but you guys have a good thing going over here. My baby was born July 6. Hope you don't mind me peeping over here. Just want to say that this snot sucker is pretty awesome!!
  • Hey does anyone remember those blocks they used to show on infomercials in the 90's where the kids were making suits of armor and stuff? they were oval, they had  glow in the dark ones?
  • @henrytviii I love your sarcastic humor!
