Oh and also how come when you need to start the day, they're still sleeping? It's like, why can't you sleep at night when we need you to sleep! But when need awake you're snoozing away! Grr
Things that are unfortunate: the transition of a sleeping baby from my lap to the crib is way harder than from my lap to the bassinet. I botched a transfer at 5am and had to start all over again. Which means that despite waking up for the day at 4am, I did not have time to work out this morning AND I was still 10 minutes late for work. Ugh.
@virginiaunicorn11 I totally sympathize with your sleep struggles and frequent feeds. We too are EBF and she refuses the bottle now, so my "me" time is limited. Something I read on kellymom is that women have different milk capacities. While some have large "cups" (nothing to do with breast size) to fill automatically before each feeding, I seem to have a smaller capacity that will only fill so full. Therefore I have to feed more frequently (every two hours or so). Knowing this help me find peace with my frequent feelings.
So sorry to hear about the continued heart ache over grandpa. I remember you speaking of him and how amazing he was when we were pregnant. I'm sure he watching over you and LO and beaming with pride. I hope today is better. Internet hugs❤️
@HayesRN13@Sammy K@ciennah99 thanks for your advice and kind words. I will try the soothing without feeding and maybe a bottle (LO hasn't had one yet, but maybe it's time). I do get more sleep when he's in bed with us because I can indeed snooze while he eats. Your points on anxiety are helpful, too, thanks so much.
ETA @Sammy K unfortunately his long stretch is usually 6:00/6:30-10:30/11:00 pm. So he does have that "long stretch" but not at a time that's conducive to my sleeping, too. I am sure daytime nap inconsistency is a large part of the issue. We can resolve that in another two weeks when we move back to our hometown for a few months.
@virginiaunicorn11 my LO nap time is super inconsistent also but I don't know how to fix it. She has different caregivers during the day, daycare & my dad. Try as he might my dad has a hard time getting her to sleep & stay asleep. Daycare's schedule is so random other than usually an afternoon nap when all he kids are resting. I hope some kind of schedule starts developing soon!
@delujm0 I find my LO will nap for 20mins-2 hours on my lap, but about 15 mins max in his crib. It's brutal.
He also recently decided he doesn't want to nap anymore. He use to fall asleep without any fuss with my noise app and some rocking, but now everything that use to work doesn't, and he's angry. He actually kicks his legs, or stiffens them straight out while yelling at me while I try to rock him. They're glorious moments for both of us. Hopefully it's a phase, or I just really suck at this.
Last night we went for the crib right away. After botching the initial transfer around 715, I had a successful crib transfer at 8. She slept until 4, ate, and went back down until 615 at which point I fed her and then just let her sleep on top of me until 8.
We did stick some blankets under the crib sheet to mimic the shape of her bassinet. As she gets used to it we will remove them because it's a SIDS risk. But she's nowhere near rolling over so I'm not crazy worried about it. Each time I went in there to get her she had flipped herself 90 degrees. I think she likes having the extra space.
She is getting a bit of a cold so I'm on the hunt for a good humidifier...any recommendations?

@delujm0 I just bought a Vick's humidifier from Target because LO has some bad congestion. Actually, I think it's technically a vaporizer because it's "warm." I believe that's the difference.
I did a little bit of research and the cool mist ones seem to be popular now for everyday use. I read that the warm can be a little more effective when they're already sick. That's what we used as kids, so I figured why not!? I think the main concern with the warm ones is simply liability because kids could get burnt, but I don't think that's a problem at our LO's ages in cribs
Why is my 3 month old sleeping less and less every night! Ugh.. We were consistently getting 10hr stretches and it's been less and less every night now. 5 1/2 hrs last night.. Is there a growth spurt around 14 weeks? She seems to be eating and sleeping her normal ways during the day..
@caitlincunn 14 weeks was definitely a 'thing' for us. Somewhere around there she went through a big sleep regression. She used to STTN and now she's getting up again. In her case, I think she simply is needing much more to eat. She'll wake and eat a huge (for her) amount 6-7.5 oz then go right back down. It seems to be turning a corner though so hang in there!
@swaugh14 oh good! Last night was a little better. She woke up randomly at 9 so I figured instead of rocking her back to sleep I might as well feed her a little. So she ate for about 15 mins and then was back out until 4 ish. I think it's just crazy that at 6 weeks and for a while she was sleeping until 7am ish! And now all of a sudden won't sleep. Hoping tonight is a little better. I wish she would just wake up at the same time every morning that way I am at least prepared for it. Not completely shocked!
Holy schnikeez guys, you are right. Our LO has been a great sleeper since Week 11. We are at 17 weeks and BAM she was up at 4 am screaming this morning! The 4 month regression is REAL y'all. Nooooooo!
Lucies List said to try to not introduce crutches like feeding, because that may not be what they want ... But she sucked down 4 ounces like she hasn't eaten in days, so whatever. Hoping part of this is just because she has a slight cold too.
Well, that was a horrible night. She hates the crib. Absolutely hates it. She was waking up every 30 minutes and then would take at least that long to fall asleep again. Eventually I decided we both needed some sleep and I put her in her RNP in the nursery. She fell right asleep. I guess I'll just keep trying every night until it sticks. Anyone have any experience with a crib wedge?
We tried to transition from the RNP last Wednesday and Thursday. Had the exact same experience so we've chickened out the past two nights.
And @hoodoll82 , I love Lucie's List and I read that, too. But then saw she doesn't count a pacifier as a crutch (though a boob or cuddles, rocking are), which I find to be total baloney, blind hypocrisy. "My baby's need isn't a crutch but anything else is." I especially had this reaction because I saw that right around the time a few moms on here were saying their kid wakes and cries of the pacifier falls out. Anyway, glad you're just doing you. =D>
When you have insomnia on top of being sick & caring for a sick baby (both have hand foot mouth disease) nighttime just really sucks. My head, throat & body hurt so bad I was up 3 1/2 hours in the middle of the night while LO slept. I feel bad for my baby. Daycare has got both of us sick twice in the last 5 weeks & she only goes part time too. I was hoping she'd take after her dad's strong immune system, not my jacked up one. She's still asleep so I'm going to try to sleep a little more.
LO is almost 17 weeks and has been waking up in the middle of the night. I just let her be and she sucks her thumb and goes back to sleep but..she used to sleep rock solid so who knows. I gave in and bought breathable bumpers since her head always ends up smacked on the side of the crib and arms through slats now that she's being a wiggle worm.

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.

@dancegurl1118 Breathable bumpers have helped us so much also. They prevent us from moving her 500 times a night. Since her sleep is going back downhill, I'll take any help I can get!
Well LO slept through the night for the first time last night at 16 weeks. She slept from 8pm-615. Hopefully she does it again tonight and the next and the next and the next lol
Just sent DH to the ER with DS. His breathing was so labored he was striding. He had croup over Christmas too that got him admitted overnight so I fear the same fate. Please send prayers for a speedy recovery for him.
Hi, This is my first time posting here. I really hope you guys have some advice for me. My lo is 16 weeks old and used to be a champion sleeper. Well not anymore. For the past week he starts screaming whenever he's tired but he won't sleep. We're talking screaming for hours. When he's finally asleep he sleeps for maybe an hour and then he's up again. We've tried every trick in the book it seems. Pacifier, rocking, swaddle, boob, car rides, co-sleeping etc. When he's awake he is back to his smiley, normal self so I don't think he is sick. I just feel so terrible that he ends up screaming his lungs out before every nap and bedtime and I can't find a way to soothe him. Any insight would be much appriciated. Thank you!
@Anna2091 My baby is 16 weeks and is a worse sleeper by the day. Last night he kept yawning and yawning but refused to sleep from 9:45 pm -12:15 am. He wasn't screaming, but pretty fussy. We tried rocking, co-sleeping, nursing, just letting him lay in his "crib" and whine, swing, play mat, tummy time - on my chest, in bed, on the play mat - lying him on my lap... Finally after 20 minutes in the Bjorn, he started to quiet and eventually fell asleep. My kid is going through a long Leap (check out the Wonder Weeks book or app), and is pretty difficult lately, though also very smiley. My back is a wreck, but wearing him in a carrier seems to be one of the few fail-safe soothing methods for him. (He's actually pretty chill most times/most of the day, but around sleep times, he is whiney and harder to soothe. And he won't stay asleep long - 20 minutes to an hour.) Good luck, I wish I had better advice!
DH called with an update an hour ago. DS definitely has croup (which I could tell by his cough). They gave him steroids and nebulizer treatments and continue monitored him. Our pediatrician is actually the doc on call today so DH was waiting to meet with him on whether or not they will admit him for the day and possibly tonight if he doesn't improve. His breathing was so horrible and his fever was 103.1. I hate it when he gets this sick. He cries every time he coughs because it hurts so bad. I'm feeding LO now and then we'll head in to see them. His fever broke a couple hours after they got there. Thanks for checking on us @virginiaunicorn11.

So glad he's in good hands, but I'm sorry he's so sick. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Good parents you are, getting him quick help.
@lovethatcolosun I'm only now reading all your croup updates! Yikes! I hope he's feeling at least a little better today with his fever broken. I hope they can do something to help him feel more comfortable, I hate coughing so bad it hurts. Wishing the best for you and you DS and the LO (and your DH, bless him)
@Anna2091 welcome to posting. I don't have any advice to offer, but I've been noticing a trend among the moms here whose babies are around 4m - most of them are talking about sleep regression issues right now. I remember because my LO was born in late June so he only barely turned 3m, and each time I see someone else talk about their 4m old having sleep issues again, its like a counter clicks in my head ('oh, here's another one') and I get more anxious for next month. So, it sounds like its a 'thing' most babies are going thru around that age. Hooray. :-S I love being able to know the future. :-<
I just ordered a zipadee zip. This whole waking up every 1-2 hours and not going back down for the past 3 weeks is getting OLD. Cried last night at one point after I spilled my water and woke him up even more.
This weekend was rough. Saturday night we were down at 9, up at 11, 1, 2, 3, 5 and up for the day at 7. Last night she wouldn't go down until 11, up at 1 and 4, and then up for the day at 6. I need a weekend do-over

I could have written this post, word for word. Ugh, sorry lady. Hope your kid's a dear during the day at least. It almost makes up for the nights...
