Clarification: #1 neither of these women would be a decent president even if they had penises.

#2 I don't think that the world is ready for the US to have a woman president. It's about respect from foreign leaders. I am sure there is a woman out there somewhere that could sit in the Oval Office and command that kind of respect, but I have not yet been introduced to her.

Well, bluntly it almost certainly won't help in the middle east. But I think other places b it would be fine. Germany currently has a female prime minister. I'm sure there are others too.

I think you're gravely mistaken about this. As @sorarose said, plenty of countries have had female leaders, including major world players like Germany. Further, Hillary Clinton was a fine Secretary of State and seemed to have no problems commanding respect from foreign leaders.
(I'm not going to wade in on the emails or Benghazi things, which are just a distraction.) Clearly, an American woman can be taken seriously as a leader in international relations.

Incidentally, my response has nothing to do with who I'm voting for because I'm undecided on that, the primaries are not for another four months, and the general election is not for more than a year. Campaigning is out of control in this country.

Edit to make more of a point.

This. So so this (I apologize if I totally screwed up the quote boxes.)

Not completely true. Both Israel and Turkey have had female PMs. Maybe you aren't considering countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh part of the ME, but both are Muslim countries and had/have female PMs.

So women aren't capable of leadership because of their biology?

Yes! I agree 1000% with this! I need someone that can make a decision without emotions being involved. Plus there is nothing wrong with having a nice strong man as the leader of America. Who wouldn't want that?

  • FFFC I don't really like puppies. If we ever get a dog we'll adopt an adult dog. I think puppies are cute, I like to play with them, but I have no patience for the crazy energy and training required. Give me a happy, calm adult dog who knows how to poop outside.

@dixie7701, just going to have to agree to disagree with you on this one. @BeachTigress: I could not disagree with you more. To me, Trump would be the worst possible choice. Also, your statement implying women can't make decisions without emotions is just plain offensive to me, to agree with PP.
I second this... Anyone who thinks Trump would make a great president.... well I just don't have any words for you. He would get us into a war in under a year with his snarky ass. Sure it's entertaining for TV, not for being taken seriously as a top world leader. He would make the US look like a bratty teenager who didn't know when to shut up. The thought is so scary to me  X_X

Ditto. We adopted a 2 year old house trained, leash trained dog. His biggest issue was getting excited and jumping on people which took all of a week to sort out. Puppies are adorable but are only adorable for a few months and then they're adults and you've got to house train them!

    No. Unequivocally no.

I do agree that puppies are annoying - especially untrained puppies. I would, however, NEVER abandon any pet. Ever. I would also never do it behind my husband's back.
  • If the issue with the dogs is the lack of training / accidents in the house, why not see a dog trainer or learn how to train them yourselves instead of jumping the gun and just getting rid of them? Puppies and dogs just don't teach themselves how to go to the bathroom outside. We had our puppy house trained within 3 months. All it takes is a little consistency and patience.

That would be the logical thing to do IMO.
I can't imagine how shitty your H would feel if you were to do this behind his back. I would be livid.
  • This talk of the dogs makes me all sorts of ragey.

Toddlers can shit and piss all over the house too. Kids make a hell of a lot more of a mess the dogs.

If DH ever did that, as in get rid of our animals, he wouldnt have a wife. They are part of the family.

Kids need to be taught just like dogs.

Totally agree with this, but in my mind, I would be much happier doing it for my own offspring than for my dog (not that I haven't for my dog, just last night he ate dinner too fast and puked it up and last week we didn't hear him asking to go out so he peed on the carpet). To me, having my dog is like having a perpetual toddler, he gets into everything, "what do you have in your mouth" is asked at least once a week, I check if he has to go to the bathroom every 2 hours after he has an accident, etc. I have non problem doing that but puppies are even crazier to deal with. That level of crazy is reserved (at least for me) for my offspring and no one else.
  • I have to laugh at anyone who thinks women are too emotional to lead a country but who thinks that Trump is a good candidate. Trump is a huge baby, seems very ruled by his emotions, and is extremely hot headed. He is far more likely to cause an international incident which his arrogance, anger, and disrespectful behaviour than any of the other candidates. I can't believe it's real life that he is an actual, serious candidate.
And that there are people of legal voting age in this country who will vote for him! So scary.

I'm just waiting for him to get the nomination and then have it turn out that he was just playing the whole time and it was a ruse to prevent any of the other GOP candidates from getting the nomination, at which point he will run the campaign into the ground, guaranteeing a Democrat as pres. That's the only way I get through hearing him talk.

I hear you. We have 2 dogs. They are only 15 days apart in age so pretty much both still puppies (1 and a half). Our male eats too fast then drinks then pukes it up so we have to watch him while he eats. Our female will occasionally pee on the floor if she really can hold it. It happens.

I feel like if you are getting/have a puppy you know what you are info. Puppies are hyper, over stimulated, obnoxious monsters. Yes they get into everything and they need to be watched pretty constantly.

I put everything into training our dogs. No, they arent perfect. They never will be. But they are sweet, loving, and always know how to put a smile on our faces.

Let me begin with my belief that Trump is a joke. However, the reason for his popularity is because he doesn't play inside the lines. The Republican Party needs a shake-up, and voters like him because he doesn't sugarcoat, which is so uncommon in politicians today. He says whatever the hell he wants, which is refreshing to some. With that said, the things that he actually believes and says are gross, but I think people are willing to overlook it because he comes off as genuine.

Ha! Yeah, dogs in the bed are on my "no" list. My couch either. I'd give them the good dog food, though. Dog's gotta eat!

Relax, folks, she's venting! Talk to your dh (again, if you already have) about how you feel and find ways to compromise. Tbh, you'll probably end up having to come around as it doesn't sound like he's being irrational or walking them in double strollers or bjorns. Tell him how you feel about him ignoring your wishes like that and also see if you can bond with the puppies and build a relationship. Getting rid of them? NOT a good idea.
He won't budge! He is set in his ways. He is going away on a business trip for like a week next month, so i figured I could just say that I was walking the dogs and they saw a deer and ran after them and they never came home. I win and then my hubby cannot be too mad at me because they ran away when I was calling for them to come back.

Oh.  Wait. You can't actually get rid of them. I thought you were joking? Dogs should be treated humanely. Totally on-board with you getting them out of your bed, but find them a good home or tough it out.

No animal should be treated poorly, I understand they can be members of the family (we had a Shih Tzu for 15 years from the time I was 11. I loved that dog!), I just don't want them on my furniture or in my personal space when not invited.

You are kidding, right? I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt because I can't imagine that you are truly thinking of going through with that plan.

I am not a dog person. I don't mind dogs necessarily, I just have no desire to own one/live with one/clean up after one. But my husband loves animals and had always wanted to get a dog. And since it's just as much his life as it is mine, I wasn't going to shut down his dream, haha. Sure, sometimes I'm annoyed, but I would never dream of getting rid of the dog. And especially behind his back. That is pretty heartless.

I have to say I'm shocked and pretty dismayed by women in particular holding the opinion that a woman shouldn't be president. .
Well, come on, this is silly. There are two side to every issue and your gender doesn't solely determine that. There were women who weren't in favor of the woman's right to vote either.
