I think GoFundMe is the worst thing ever. It may have started with good intentions, but I have seen way too many fund our first home, honeymoon, vacation, and tuition accounts.

I'm with you. I'm surprised how many people start GoFundMe campaigns for themselves, too. I know it's a very convenient way to spread the word and to get people to donate, but I hate the 8% fee. I think the old-fashioned way of sending a check to a benefit account is most beneficial for recipient. Just think if $15,000 was raised for a family with medical issues... that's $1,200 they're missing out on!

I think the push for college for everyone is over-done. I believe in every student being held to a "college ready" standard so that if they choose to go into a profession that requires a degree, they'll be prepared, but I think it's ridiculous to expect everyone to go and to look down on those who choose a different path. (This might not be universally unpopular, but as a high school teacher I've met resistance here: "Of course they should ALL go to college!" ) [-(
I don't like the pumpkin spice lattes, and think that they are overrated. I much prefer chai tea anything over this PSL crap. Seriously, get a vanilla cinnamon chai tea latte next time because THAT is fall in a cup. You'll be thanking me.
Edit to add: I do however like pumpkin flavored things, just not the PSL....
kbrands7 In a "former life" (aka pre-child) I worked in the school system at the PreK-6th grade level. They start pushing college at pre-k. I agree with you completely. Not everyone is going to go or wants to go to college. My example is, if everyone goes to college and gets a college graduate level job, who is going to plow the snow, pick up our trash, fix our plumbing, etc. I'm a big fan of trade schools.

Ok, this was brought up on my last BMB and I have to say I have been thinking about it for over 2 years now!
I can't wrap my head around the concept of dinosaurs. I believe that they existed and that real fossils have been found. I believe that the world was created in the Big Bang billions or trillions of years ago. I am on board with the changes in climate and vegetation. But what gets me is that there were these reptiles who had all these incredible adaptations and features that died out, but now many of those same adaptations and features can be seen in all types of animals today from birds to fish to mammals. For some reason, it weirds me out that we can even make comparisons to modern day animals. I know I probably sound really dumb, but this is something that always bugged me about dinosaurs.

I am also a teacher and completely agree. I think kids need more opportunities to explore careers and trades in high school as well. I know many people that became successful mechanics, carpenters, electricians, etc due to a school with a great program, but most of these have been cut due to funding or be fact all kids are supposed to go to college. Let's teach our kids how to think and live in the real world instead.

I cannot agree with this more! MH was pushed into college and ended up majoring in technical theater because it was the only bachelor's degree where he could use his skills of carpentry and electrical work. Would he have rather been a contractor, electrician or carpenter? Hell yeah! But instead he has this dumb bachelor's degree that he can't use to get a job, but because he has a college degree, no construction company wants to hire him because he is over qualified. Not cool.
@concreteayngel This is more of a FFFC but I LOVE Taylor swift and Ed Sheeran! With that said, they are definitely my guilty pleasure music. I even surprise myself with how much I like them. They're songs are just so damn catchy! DH makes fun of me because I actually bought the Taylor Swift album because it wasn't on spotify ">
I really dislike all things Harry Potter. And Twilight. And anything with zombies. None are genres I enjoy and I really dislike most things that end up with a "cult following."

@yogahh I work (and this weekend I live) in Philadelphia and have to stay at the hospital from 7pm tomorrow night until noon on Monday!!! I'm not on call and only have to be in the hospital during my 12 hour shifts but who wants to be trapped at work for 4 days!!! I wanna go home and sleep in my bed, cuddle my fur babies and not shower in a shower trailer while sleeping in an empty exam room. I am a faithful catholic but sorry Francis....you're really cramping my style.

I'm in nj and there's signs on the highways about traffic in nyc this week. I thought it was bc of football. Sorry pope
I agree that pushing all kids into college is a terrible idea! My DH is the perfect example of this. He has two Associates degrees, works his dream job, and makes twice what I do with a Master's degree. He is also the happiest in his career and makes the most money of his siblings, and has the least amount of education (and debt!). Going to college is not the answer for everyone, and I fully plan to tell my kids that. Go work a couple of years after high school and figure out where your happiness is before you jump head-long into huge debt and demanding education programs.
I'm going to be terribly controversial and admit that it completely bugs me when pregnant woman use "we" when pregnant to refer to themselves and their SO. Saying "We are having a baby" is fine, but "We're pregnant" is not okay. You are pregnant, not your partner. They may be sweet and caring, but they are not walking around 24-7 going through all of these fun changes and symptoms. Sorry, but you don't get points for going to get me ice cream when I have been walking around puking my guts out, bloating like a puffer fish, and be more exhausted than humanly possible.
(This is a generic example, DH has never once tried to claim he was pregnant except for comedic purposes)

So, maybe I misunderstand people sometimes, but it seems like some women only have sex with their SO to conceive. I've heard things like, "last month we only had sex on the day I ovulated so I know that's when we conceived!"
This is so weird to me. Sex is fun. We do it all the time. I have no idea when we conceived, because it could have been any of, oh, I dunno, all the days?
And I imagine that sex is completely awkward. "Hey honey I'm just going to lay here and read a baby book while you deposit your sperm in me".
I get if someone can't for medical reasons, but otherwise people should be getting naked and having fun!

I have to slightly disagree. Sex isn't fun for everyone. For me, its a lot of work. I don't love it, and while I enjoy intimacy with DH, I don't always have the energy to get naked. Before our month of EOD sex to conceive, we would only do it one a week. If that. And now we haven't had sex in 3 weeks. I just don't feel like it since getting pregnant.
@TheThornBird I partially agree with you...but I know/know from TB plenty of couples who have lower sex drive and it works for them. I'm sure it's a bigger issue when the people in the relationship differ in their desire. Definitely hear you when it's talked about in certain ways though, like depriving of sex because they think it helps to conceive to "save sperm" *face palm*

This isn't my experience exactly, but I feel like a lot of people who have been actively trying to get pregnant for many months might only have sex during their fertile window because after months of trying, sex loses something. It becomes almost a chore, and especially after months of disappointment from NOT conceiving, I can definitely see how some people might limit sex to their fertile window because they associate it with trying to conceive/the stress of that. Lucky for me, we only had to try for two months, so this wasn't really my experience! I can say, however, that after 9 years of being in a relationship DH, we definitely don't have as much sex as we used to, and we are fine with that! Some couples have lots of sex! Some couples don't need to! As long as everybody is happy, all is well!
edit: not sure whats up with the quote fail. i tried!
mlangblom I'm one of those lol I feel weird saying I'm pregnant and not we're pregnant. I feel when I say I'm pregnant I feel like it's being selfish because it is his child too. Then again I understand what you are saying too. It's one of those weird things lol
I am so over the political crap that is going on right now. I'm sick of the circus show they are putting on. Dr. Carson is coming here to speak next week and there are people already organizing protests.
I don't understand why everyone is so gaga over the pope. The pope is NOT God. I'm not Catholic. In my opinion, the pope is nothing more than an over glorified preacher. Hasn't anyone read the ten commandments? Thou shalt not worship idols! The way people go gaga over him, it is almost like he has become one of those idols we are not supposed to worship. Hey you asked for unpopular opinions.
