Didn't *people* say that 3 months was a magic age where your kid would sleep sooo much better?
Well, for us I think that was at 2 months and 3 months is a complete downward spiral! I'm not sure what's up but this girl slept through the night for a month straight. And now hardly ever does. I know, I shouldn't complain about this but I was in some dreamland thinking we were set for life on sleeping through the night! Ha!
To me 3 months is terrible because she's big enough to roll over so I can't swaddle her arms in anymore because I've found her on her belly before with her arms trapped. Also, she is in daycare and of course already has a cold. She is in the middle of the supposed weeks long leap that starts around 3 months and also I would assume is in an actual growth spurt because I feel like she's grown 3 inches in one week and always needs to feed during the night now.
3 months is NOT so magical...sigh. Should have seen this coming. Morning pity party over.
Since it is now relatively dependable for lo to sleep from 8-830 to 4-430, and I started work this week, I decided to try to cut my MOTN pump. I've been running a 5-10 ounce surplus daily and I'd just rather sleep. The first few nights I woke up annoyingly at 3 needing to pump (I pumped at 10 before going to bed). Tonight I made it to 4! Lo should be up any minute now to eat and I've already pumped the side I won't feed her with. Victory is mine!
Tonight we're going to try to transition from bassinet to flat pnp mattress...so I'm sure she'll be up like 100 times and this victory will be short lived, but whatever. Baby steps.
Update: OF COURSE just when I thought my timing was perfect, LO goes and sleeps through the night. She was snoring when I left the house at 645 and DH said she didn't get up until 745. So I had to pump again on the side that I thought I'd be feeding her with.
Yay for sleeping through, but I like to see her awake before I leave so now I'm kind of sad I missed her. DH sent a video for me to watch while I pump at work though.
Haven't been on in a while but that's bc LO has been sleeping for me !! From 6 to even one night 8 hours!!! Omg it's life changing holy crap!! I don't get the full amount bc I exclusively pump and have to get up to pump but still getting like 5 hours straight is heavenly I hope I'm not jinxing it !! She's 12 weeks now! Time is flying !!
@swaugh14 I have more difficulty at 3 months than 2, as well.
LO was ready to party at 3 am last night. But the good news was it was his first 4 hour chunk of sleep in a while.
He's been getting up for the day at 6 or 6:30 lately, which is too early for us. Know what fixed it for us today? Giving in and making a 7 am appointment. Of course LO was fast asleep still.
LO woke up crying at 3am and sucking her hand. I was so disoriented feeding her. And then irrationally angry at DH because he put her to bed and she broke out of this swaddle. Hope it's just residual weirdness from her shots and not the beginning of the 4 month sleep regression. Ugh she's just so damn cute I love her so much that I can't even be mad she woke up.

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
@virginiaunicorn11 yeah, we've been starting our days at 630am ish recently, too. I just can't get him back to sleep after that. Oh well, since it takes so long to feed him it's 730 by the time we're done anyway. At least he's been sleeping just a little longer so he's not waking up at 5 or 530, so we end up finishing eating at 630. That sucked. At least now when he wakes around 6-630 I can move my stuff downstairs, change him, then start feeding him while I watch the early am news
Lo was so tired last night I didn't even try to keep her up to eat longer and she went to bed at 7:45. She is up now to eat and my fiancé and I have been up since 12 because there are crickets under the house that have kept us up from 12 till 4:30.. I finally went in the living room to see if it was quieter and just started falling asleep when she woke up. Why couldn't she wake up anytime between 12 and 4?! So exhausted.. But the crickets are quiet now so maybe they will shut up finally. Don't they ever get sick or making noise?
WTH. I was up so many times last night I lost track. First she was grunting and kicking around in her RNP and DH woke me up to get her. Then she was up again..and again...and again. At one point she woke up with such a sad cry that I dragged her into bed with me for mommy cuddles. No clue what happened to my normally "up once or twice a night" baby. Gas? Overtired? No idea. We'll see what happens tonight.

I'm just happy I'm not the only person who still has their baby in the rock & play.
@caitlincunn Would white noise drown them out? I started with the white noise for LO but it wound up being great for drowning out noises (like LOs grunting and DHs snoring). We play it pretty loud.

I know. For some reason I just can't bring myself to move her to her crib. I might try again next week though. What's holding you back?
@AlwaysSunny1012 I have an app on my phone that I did try but they must have been in the crawl space and under our room. It didn't even help. I ordered a noise machine from Amazon and it says delivered but we didn't get it.. So not sure what happened. The crickets haven't been an issue except last night and we've been in this house for almost 4 months. So hopefully tonight they are quiet otherwise I'm sleeping in the car! Ha

My LO is in the rock & play too. Couple of Delemas. She startles very easily & needs to be swaddled both arms in. I'm afraid she'll roll over in the pack & play & smother. She likes the cuddled feeling of the rock & play. It's higher up than the pack & play & easier for me to put her down (usually falls asleep next to me in bed or with DH or I holding her). It's easier for me to get her back up (I have a bad back). Easier to pop the pacifier back in too. Also her little lambs that hang from the rock and play entertain her and comfort her when she wakes up so she doesn't automatically start crying. Wish there was a way to transfer those to the pack and play. And lastly I need to get a crib. The one I bought from a friend isn't safe according to the safety standards so I'm paranoid to put her in that too! Agh! It's stressing me though. Anyone have recommendations on cribs or mattresses?
Mostly my fault. Paced myself very well at the alefest today, drank water in proportion to the taster pours, was able to drive the whole day, barely began to feel it in my head... If you add up all the taster pours into actual pints, I maybe had 4 pints over 6 hours, and water and Gatorade before and after. But my body has forgotten how to deal with more than 2 beers a day apparently. My tummy isn't unhappy but I'm super warm as if I were expecting my tummy to be unhappy. My head kinda hurts. And LO woke me up squirming in his sleep, and my head + my overheating is making it so I can't go back to sleep. Apparently, I can drink responsibly and not get a buzz on, but I still gotta deal with a partial hangover. #-o
Last week was so terrible. I am so tired. Tonight is probably not going to go well either. I know it's not bad enough that I will remember her as an awful sleeper, but still... 2 or 3 times per night is too many. I'm so tired.
I have GOT to start getting my shower earlier in the day. Somehow it keeps shaking out that I get my shower last in the house, and while DH and LO are asleep, I'm sitting up, tired, at 10pm because I'm waiting for my hair to at least partially dry before I lay down on it. Every. Single. Time.
First day back at work and this kiddo won't sleep through night. Longest stretch is 5 hours. Up at 11 and 2:30/3. Thought dream feed was supposed to eliminate that last feed? Nope!
Worst night ever. LO was down at 10, up from 11-4, slept until 5, and now we're up again. She only stops crying if you walk her or are on the ball. I've given gas drops twice and now she's nursing again. She has the worst sounding booger rattle in her nose. It's like nails on a chalk board for me. Ugggg...I need sleep.

Poor thing, so sorry to hear this!! Hope LO feels better and you both get some rest tonight

I'm sorry ..I hope tonight is better... As far as the boog, suck that sucker out

The bigger rattle was a vicious cycle last night. She would scream bloody murder when I sucked them out, leading to more crying and thus more boogers. She had three good poops today and quite a few naps to make up for last night. Me? I chased a toddler around in my free time. I did manage to get an hour nap in with her at one point. I'm ready for bed now though. Fingers crossed all will be well tonight. Thanks for your sympathies ladies. ❤️
LO had a bad day yesterday...up.at 430 am and refused to nap for dh until 10 (45 minutes) and then when he finally took her to daycare she only took two short naps all day for a total of 45 minutes. So we had early bedtime last night...she was exhausted and out by 730. I was incredulous that I was about to have dinner before 9pm and got so excited I had a beer...which then kept me from falling asleep until after 11. And we were up for a feeding at 230. And I get up for the day at 5. Booooo.
Edit: after putting her down at 330 and pumping to take the edge off the other side I got back in bed at 340...and she was up again at 420. Fml. I'm going to have a super productive day at work today on less than 4 hours sleep.
Anyone introduce a lovey for bedtime/ naptime? Anyone plan to? Any STM with lovey experience? My LO loves to pet/rub my hand while being put to sleep and to fall asleep in the middle of the night. Would love to transfer that sleep association to a blankie or something!
Well, last night I gave up and put her back in the rock n play. She slept through the night. So basically the terrorist won.
@Marcantonio IME you can't pick a lovey for them. I tried to get both my sons to attach to things, and it didn't work, until DS2 randomly and fiercely attached to an old stuffed cat when he was one. "Meow" is now well-loved, totally disgusting, and with us where ever we go.
@Marcantonio my lo was napping with a little blanky but the last few days I've started to swaddle her again so she can't hold it by her face. But she was napping with one for maybe a week or two. I only let her have it because I can check the monitor to make sure it didn't go over her face.
@delujm0 that does sound like a rough night. Good luck a work today. Maybe a lunchtime nap?
I would love a lunchtime nap...unfortunately I spend the hour of time that would be lunch pumping throughout the day so that I can leave at 430 to get to daycare. And my car is in a deck 10 minutes away so by the time I got there it wouldn't even be worth it. Hopefully lo will go down at 730 again tonight and I can eat dinner and get bottles prepped for tomorrow by 830 and be asleep by 9. Then at least if she wakes up at 230 I'll have slept for 5.5 hours.
And we were dreading the crib transition so are waiting until Friday night...I don't see how it could get much worse though. She almost wouldn't go back to sleep after her 420 feed again today but I convinced her to after using what should have been my workout time to rock her back to sleep. Sigh.
She has found her thumb now and apparently put herself to sleep in the crib yesterday morning...DH had to shower and she was screaming so he stuck her in the crib...when he got out of the shower she was asleep and stayed that way for almost an hour. Good sign for a month from now when we start sleep training. Small victories.
@Marcantonio With DS, he attached to a blanket, but not until after 6 months old. He had several lovies before that he just never had any interest. Like pp said, they will decide what they love.
@ChardeeMacDennis DS's blanket is beyond disgusting. And trying to wash it is almost a 100% guarantee for a meltdown. I should send him as Pig Pen for Halloween.
Why are babies so inconsistent at night? We do the exact same bedtime routine every night. On Sunday, he gave us a 7 hour stretch and a 3.5 hour stretch. Last night he was up after 4.5 hours Ready to play. Took an hour to get him back asleep, and he was up two hours later ready and rearing to go. Now he is fighting me on a nap, and we go to the doctors in a few hours for his 4 month vaccines. I have a feeling this momma is in for a long day. Bring on the beer!
Tonight is the night we transition to the crib from the RNP. We've moved the glider into the nursery and it's all set. We've been hanging out in there today to get her used to it. Right now, she's napping in there. It's been 20 minutes. So far, so good. Wish me luck tonight ladies. She slept 9.5 hours straight last night, so I hope she can continue that in her crib.
We have done the same bedtime routine for 3 months now, really started it when she was 2 weeks old. We low lights diaper change with diaper rash cream, Jammies, halo swaddle, clean out nose, turn on white noise sleep giraffe, pacifier and two books one of whatever we want and then good night mood in glider, hold and rock for about 2 minutes and then down in crib, lights out, door shut. Our lo loves this, sometimes when I know she is tired and needs a nap I wrap her in a blanket and just start saying the words to good night moon and she'll pass out. Granted I think I hit the baby sleep lottery. But I think part of it she is like her dad and sleeps like a rock.
