So we're expecting another girl in January. We want to do a shower but not come off greedy, plus I have stuff left over from my 22 month old. Should we still do a shower for the little things we need, or just forget about it?
I'm going to say forget about it unless someone really really wants to throw you one. I'd register for what you plan on buying yourself and if anyone asks about buying you something you can direct them there
*Warning* OP you do what you want but I hope you are wearing some big girl panties. Because the etiquette police will rip you apart. They will come. And it won't be pretty.
Since you were warned I'll be blunt. Are you serious?! This is your 4th child, you still have stuff left from previous child that is under 2 and also a girl and you want to throw this shower yourself?! I just can't even. I'm personally on my 6th and would you like to know how many showers I had? ONE. Sorry lady, but no. This is so beyond ridiculous it's not even funny. You decided to have another child, you should be able to support that child. On your own (SO included). Good luck. ETA- there is no way to NOT come off greedy. This is downright greedy.

A) Baby showers are for first time moms to welcome them into motherhood. You are NOT a FTM.
You should NEVER throw yourself a baby shower. There meant to "shower" the mother to be with gifts. So if you throw one yourself, FOR yourself, you're basically sending out invitations saying "please come over and bring me gifts".

You want another shower (that you throw for yourself???) but don't want to seem greedy? I don't think there is any way to accomplish both of those completely opposing goals. Dig out your old baby stuff and wash it up. It will be fine.
Do not throw yourself a baby shower for your 4th child. Register for things you need to keep your own thoughts organized and the completion coupon. If anyone wants to buy you something for new baby girl then you can direct them to the registry. Do not advertise that you have created this registry.
hey, this is my 4th too! would you mind throwing me a shower while you're at it? we could really use a new infant seat since the one we used for the first three babies is expired. and i don't like the color of my current stroller. in fact, just save yourself the trouble of the shower and send me a gift card so i can pick out exactly what i want - amazon will do, or one of those visa ones. maybe about 500 bucks should cover it?

I'd like an invite to this shower so I can shower all of you multi-mommies with things to don't need for your little ones! Then side-eye you and talk about you behind your back because of how gift-grabby showers are after the first!
No to a shower for your fourth and def. no to throwing your own shower. If you have a 22 month old I can't imagine that you would need much. Either way going to come off greedy.
I just want to know how many showers (total) OP has had. If you have one for each kid-- what happened to all the stuff?
No joke, a mom I am an acquaintances with (not friends necessarily, but polite in passing) had a shower for each of her 8 children. She SOLD the items on craigslist starting with the fourth kid. She bragged about it to a group of moms at a play date. I'm talking hundreds of dollars from the generosity of her friends/family. Eventually it got back to her friends I think.
With posts like these I always wonder-- "yeah sure celebrate every baby? But after the second shower you should have every essential..."
FWIW-- I had a small shower for DS thrown by a close friend. I got mostly clothes (yay! More laundry but also yay more cuteness) & diapers. It was small (5 people) & I didn't throw it myself. If I'm lucky enough to have #3 I figured I'll just have a meet the baby party afterward.
Yeah- the only reason I'm having a second shower (and I've had several offers from people to throw me one) is because there is an 11 year difference between my kids- thanks to infertility. The only thing I still have is my crib, and will need EVERYTHING. If I had kids a couple years apart like we had originally planned I would still have all my stuff. But car seats expire, and crap even my crib was recalled! So I need to start over new.

WOW that is freaking insane. I'd have lost my sh*t on her if we were associated and I got her a gift.
