LO is on specialty formula and each can is roughly $30 and lasts 4.5 days. Yeah I know.
Well our pedi asked insurance to cover it so I was waiting them out to buy more. And then they denied it (don't worry I'm appealing it) but I had to quickly run out to buy some. There's one store where it's "only" $28 a can - and then if you buy two they give you an extra $5 off.
Well I went to the store and they were sold out except for one can. Which meant no $5 off deal. I spent about 15 minutes working with the poor customer service lady figuring out a solution (they were great, told me I could buy one can and then they would honor $5 off the next can when a shipment arrived). Hooray!
But the real story is that the lady behind me says she has three grown-kids, remembers what this is like, and proceeds to buy me the $28 can of formula. She doesn't know me from a hole in the wall. And I felt embarrassed I had been complaining about the cost and insurance (it was small talk with the customer service lady as I was waiting on the formula answer). But a nice gesture, and now I get to pay it forward to another mom who could use a hand (I'm keeping an eye out).
And lastly, on my "day off" today, I see this same woman running errands in a completely different shopping center in another town. Maybe she's my guardian angel, lol!

Of course half of what I did was for LO...
Got my lip waxed so I look presentable for work next week. Ate at a table for one at the Indian lunch buffet. Had two plates of food and two servings of dessert. Picked up baby formula. Dropped off new post-pregnancy-sized work pants to be hemmed. Stopped to to buy a wading pool for LO that I saw as I drove by the store because we are in a heat wave and it was JUST SO ADORABLE AND COVERED IN FISHES. Then stopped for ice cream.
Bummer being that during my excursion, my MIL called crying to say DH's great-aunt died. She was ill, but it still sucks and now I'm stressed about having to likely drive to New Jersey with a 11.5 week old in my last week of maternity leave

Not sure how far it is from where you are to NJ, but a few weeks ago we went to the beach with LO. We did the drive home in one day and spent about 8-9 hours in the car because we took a pit stop in my hometown (about 2 hours out of the way) to see SIL. To my surprise, LO was AMAZING. She was a bit fussy for the last hour or so but she slept pretty much the entire time, aside from when we stopped for her to eat. I found that at this age, traveling is pretty easy. I'm thinking next year will be more challenging since she'll probably need to be entertained. But anyway, hopefully you'll have the same experience!

Yeah I'm sure LO will be good - she's awesome in car rides! It's about 6 hours' drive. But it's more having to pack for the trip, be out of my normal environment where I know where everything is for LO, having to bring a baby to a funeral, and losing part of my last week with LO
pumped a 4oz bottle from one side cause i was engorged and uncomfortable. gave LO that (his first successful bottle!) after a 3 hour nap and he is still hungry.. hes 6 weeks and i think he eats more than i do.
I wish some of the thread topics we have stickied st the top of the June page would "unstick" so they could fall down the page. Anatomy Scan, due date twins, etc. It bugs me at least once a day. I think I may be on here too much.
@aliciac2008 I just put her in a 6mo sleeper yesterday and she just barely fits length wise. When I feed her in cross cradle now her feet are always hitting the side of wherever I am. I'm 6ft tall so I shouldn't be surprised but...dang!

I just put my 2 month old in a 6 month onesie, and it fit. This lady was born in the 13 percentile and is now in the 80th. She's just so tall!
That's how my LO is too! Not quite as dramatic in growth as yours (70th percentile to 90th) but she's also in 6 month clothes! It's so funny though because she's super tall but about average in weight so the 6 month clothes are loose around her middle and the 3 month clothes fit perfectly there but are usually too short... she's my little string bean!
^^.. In 6-9 month clothing as well.. He's a mini buffalo
I'm right with both of you ladies! I took him to see friends yesterday, and one of them made the comment that it's hard to remember to hold his head because he looks so much older than he is.

I was JUST thinking this last night (and the night before, and the night before...)
I feel like LO has grown about 6" in the last week. I haven't put her in 6 mo clothes yet like some of you but we may not be far off. The thing is lots of 3 month stuff is so loose! She's just long.
I remember changing her from a newborn size sleep sack to a small and thinking it'd be forever until she outgrows it. Well last night I kept thinking I didn't have it pulled down in the back...nope, she's just almost that tall! Slow down!
Ditto on the sizes being too short for my LO but ok for weight. Wonder if we are we a vocal minority or do baby companies need to update their standards for contemporary babies?
Anything without legs and feet (so basically, onesies), my 2 month old can wear 0-3 months size. But anything with feet, he's outgrown the 3 month size. Need to shop this week.

Yesterday I spent 2 hours on the phone with DirecTV and Verizon Wireless, respectively. End result - savings of $50 on our wireless bill, and NFL Sunday Ticket free. But, here is the big kicker and ultra pleasant surprise - I saw a small charge on my DirecTV bill, ($6.50 a month each for two receivers I don't use anymore) so I asked the guy to remove the two extra receivers (I was paying for 4), just thinking to save myself that extra $13 a month. Homie looks back at my account, I had been paying for 1 of those receivers since 7/2014, and the other since 7/2010!! I was due one year's worth of credit at $6.50 a month for one receiver, and FIVE YEARS worth of credit at $6.50 a month for the other one. Holy $h!t! The credit applied to my account paid for this months cable bill, will pay for next months cable bill, and half of the month after that!

In a town near me a lady locked her one year old baby in the car while she grocery shopped. Thank god someone called the police and they got the baby out! It was 106 degrees in the car. The baby had been in there for 30 min. The lady casually came back to her car with a full cart of groceries. She got arrested. Ahhhhh how could you do that?!!!! Mind blowing.
My mom took time off work to help me with the baby. She is going back at the end of the month. I honestly have no idea how I am going to manage on my own. On days I am alone I honestly can barely shower. His naps are so short and when he is awake he mostly cries so I don't know how to get anything done. I've tried the carrier but he only tolerates it in small doses. So impressed with all you ladies who actually do things like cook, clean and shower without anyone's help!
I absolutely love and adore my LO. But I'm really missing my former kid-free life tonight. I think this is normal and I shouldn't feel particularly guilty about it, but this summer has been such a whirl wind and when I stop and think of all the change its pretty darn overwhelming - the day to day "routine", lack of freedom to do things for myself, changes in my relationship with DH, anxiety of going back to work next week and dealing with changes I've missed there, etc.
Maybe I will feel better acknowledging it to you fine internet strangers. Sigh...

I was just able to eat a hot meal and have a beer to go with while LO slept in his swing. Sure, the meal was a Stouffer's dinner, but I cooked it in the oven, so that counts for something, right?
I'm not even drying his 6 and 9 months that he is now in, I'm afraid we will only have a couple weeks of use the way he's going! He's 15 pounds and the dr just giggled and said he's "healthy" ha... I have no 12 month clothes barely, guess it's time to shop.... Although I know it will even out and settle.. My daughter was the same way chubby and long
Emailed my boss the documents for my extended temp disability (maternity) due to complications, and didn't hear back from her for 2 days. Emailed again to query and verify that she received it...the response I got was an all new low for such a shitty boss - it was just a single word...no "are you ok, how is the baby, when will you be back, the kids miss you"...nothing. Just the word "received" she didn't even address it to me by name, or sign it off with hers...just an empty email with that word. FYI...I am convinced that the poor management, bad working conditions, and the things they had me doing at 7 months pregnant, aided in my very early delivery. When I popped into the office to sort out some stuff after delivery, they had taken my picture off of the employee picture board...I think that they already replaced me even though my position should be protected under FMLA.

It's really, really hard at first and even now, after doing it on my own pretty consistently for two months it's still challenging - BUT you can do it! I manage by cleaning while LO is napping and constantly reminding myself that cleaning is not the most important thing right now. When I cook, I put LO in her bouncer in the doorway of the kitchen so she's safe but still near me. Another thing you could do until you get adjusted to being on your own is make freezer meals during the weekend (assuming you have a partner to watch baby) and then all you'll need to do is pop them in the oven when you're ready to. As for showering, if you have a partner to watch LO, shower at night! I generally prefer to shower in the morning, but with a baby, I've found nighttime showers to be easier, since DH can watch her. You'll find a new normal and methods that will work for you. It's tricky, but you can do it!
Also, shout out to all you single moms who make this work without a second pair of hands. You're amazing!!

She tried to tell the police she was only in the store for 20 minutes (which is somehow ok?) and they looked at the security tapes and her reciept and she had been in there for 45. She then tried to say she forgot about her? Ya right, how do you forget about your child for a whole 45 minute shopping trip.

Found my baby book!! I had posted in the parenting fails thread that I had lost it in the moving shuffle but I just found it in a duffle I had put in LOs closet that somebody had decided to pack it in. The hospital bracelets were in there where I had left them and I have to admit I did cry a little (damn hormones) and then I spent the next hour writing in it and getting it updated! I also found my best pregnancy friend in the same bag, the heating pad! I slept with that thing every night and I'm going to use it on my back tonight because breast feeding hurts my back. So happy right now!
@alwayssunny1012 LO used to nap in her swing, on us, etc. whatever would get her to sleep. But she would still only nap for an interrupted 30 minutes. What really helped us is reintroducing swaddling. We now swaddle her and put her in her crib to nap. Every time. Sometimes she gets a pacifier too. It has worked like a charm for us. At first it started where I would rock her to just asleep and put her down. Now I can swaddle, put her in her crib, and walk away. Most of the time she'll scutch and cry for a few minutes, but then she's out like a light for 45 min to an hour. Having her up in her crib makes me feel so much better than having her in her swing. I'm not constantly checking on her (we have a monitor) and I feel like I can make noise. I get so much more accomplished. It's worth a shot if you haven't tried it already. It took a few days for her to really take to the crib
Update! I didn't leak all over the bed and she STTMFN! She hates being swaddled but sleeps so much longer that way. I always swaddle her at bedtime but 90% of the time I have to switch her to the sleep sack at some point during the night because she doesn't fall asleep immediately and gets so mad about being swaddled. Last night she went right down after eating and didn't even notice the swaddle and didn't wake up until 5:30. I fed her then and she still didn't notice the swaddle so she's still asleep 2.5 hours later. A one night only event, I'm sure, but I'll take it.
