Today I locked my child in the car with the keys inside and the fire department had to come. So don't worry guys...parent of the year award goes to this lady.
Oh now, I worry about this all the time. Was it running at least with AC on? Its so f'ing hot here I think I'd have to break a window before the fire department could get there. And you are an excellent mom. I think it just proves that these things happen to the best of us.
@dancegurl1118 how scary! I'm sure this could happen with me, don't feel bad! Everybody is OK so try to let that go! We all know that you're a great mom.
@dancegurl1118 I think you need a break or some me time! Between clogged ducts and today girl!!! Everytime I get gas it's possible I could lock mine in. Do not beat yourself up
@dancegurl1118 Just think about that episode of Modern Family when Mitch and Cam lock Lily in their car. That should help you be less hard on yourself.
DH and I went to a nonprofit housing center to get some advice and see how close we are to buying a house. We got very disappointing news. We are about a year out. I was really hoping to be out of our rental by December because it gets SOO cold in this house. The heating sucks and the insulation is terrible. I didn't want to have to worry about keeping LO bundled up 24/7. Stupid student loans.
So LO is fast asleep & im wide awake & weeping bc I go back to work tomorrow. My mom is keeping her tomorrow for a teacher work day & my DH took off Friday to stay with her. Lord help me on Monday (she'll be 8 weeks) when she starts daycare. It really feels like my heart is in that bassinet next to me & im leaving it here without me (for the first time) tomorrow. Any advice for Monday?! I'm already waiting to put on makeup in the parking lot at work.
I have what I'm calling 'Mom-nesia' bad lately. I went to DD's WIC appointment a day early, and waited 20 mins before someone told me my folder said the next day. I also attempted to put dirty onsies in the trash instead of the clothes hamper...I need sleep, definitely feeling the effects of being a 'Mombie'

Thanks guys. It was traumatizing even though it was 10 min start to finish. We were at her lip tie appointment and still not sure how it happened but I know I was super stressed about the appointment so that probably contributed. DH goes "do we call AAA?" I was like ummm no you call 911.
They came within 5 minutes sirens a-blaring with an ambulance and all (which got me more upset than anything because I thought about the babies left all day who die and need the ambulance) all while a 6 story medical building full of people watched out the window.
She was fine..just mad the car wasn't moving. I'm pretty sure she gets more hot being help by her sweaty grandpa in their house with No AC or fans. Needless to say the 7 hours of sleep we just got was a necessary gift from God.

@dancegurl1118 I have only ever used my AAA for running out of gas and locking my keys in the car-literally all three calls every year for my ENTIRE LIFE. SO I am surprised this hasn't happened to me yet.
@dancegurl1118 the important thing is that your LO is okay and that you were there the whole time and took action to get her out.
when I was nannying I locked the girl In the car. Not even my kid. Ugh. I called the police and someone came but he couldn't do anything because of lawsuits so I had to call a towing company to open my car.
@dancegurl1118 I locked DD in my car when she was 9 months old. I cried so hard I passed out. We laugh about it now. Thankfully my sketchy neighbor had a homemade lock out kit?!?!
So I was never told that baby's can somehow gather some funky junk in their palms??? How does he even get dirty there? I feel bad that I hadn't noticed it and it got that yucky.
@devyns2nd Yes! I discovered that a few weeks ago. They should stop clenching them soon and that should subside I would think.
So trying not to have a panic attack right now. Flying my just turned 3 year old and 10 week old to the east coast solo tomorrow. I get home from work at 9pm, LO usually eats at 9:30, 12:30am, 3:30am and 5. We need to leave at 5:30am for airport. I haven't packed any of our clothes or gear! Aaaah!
^^^yes, best wishes on safe and easy travel. If you forget something You can always buy or rent it there. I rented a pack n play and high chair while visiting relatives in Savannah one time. Made life so much easier.

@dancegurl1118 I see your bad mom call to AAA and raise you a bad mom call to poison control. I let my 2 and 4 year olds out in the backyard unsupervised so I could cook and clean. My 4 year old came in all purple (?) and told me they were smashing berries (?!) and his brother was eating them (?!?!?!!!!). Apparently we have a poke berry bush and while he'll be ok we may be in for some pain, vomiting, and diarrhea tonight.
@ChardeeMacDennis and @dancegurl1118, the pediatrician recommended we use saline spray along with the Nose Frida to help with LOs congestion. Three times now as I'm using it, he wiggles trying to get away and I get it in his eyes. It very clearly says on the bottle, keep out of eyes. There don't seem to be any ill effects, but I feel terrible about it.
Am I the only person that can use all brands of diapers? This is a brag I guess. Lol Honest diapers are the best IMO. They are so well made and I love them. That being said I can and do use whatever anyone bought me.

They never found poor DH's suitcase, so he has to file a claim listing all items lost, brand, size, date of purchase, and price. He lost a beloved shirt his Gran gave him, which really sucks. But we are trying to look on the bright side of replacing his wardrobe... Could always be worse.
@klkonwi and @HayesRN13 LUCKIES!! I've tried three other brands, but baby boy blows through everything but Pampers. May try Luvs, just for good measure...
I dont know if it's target brand, but Up&Up has been SUPER absorbant. I sent DH out for diapers once and he got a big box of these cause they were cheaper. They work like a charm. I've been trying not to change her much during the night and her diapers never leak. If nothing's working for you, get a small bag of these and try them out. They haven't failed me yet
My OB told me no baths until I had at least 3 days with no blood at all from my Virginia. My bleeding stopped awhile ago so I finally took my first bath today! It was heavenly except that I heard LO wake up and start to fuss so I had to cut it a bit shorter than I would have liked! Was also able to get out of the tub ok--was worried if I could or not since my walking is still not 100%. But I managed:)
Was finally cleared to go back to work starting Monday 8-10. That will be at 7 weeks postpartum, one week longer than I was intending and the last week is unpaid. I had to negotiate between my company and my ortho who wrote the Return to Work Form to hammer out what I would be allowed to do. Ortho wants me to use the walker for two weeks and limit walking to 20 minutes. Non-weightbearing status has been lifted and I'm walking around some, which is awesome and a big lift to my mood. My walking is wobbly though...I wonder if I'll ever get back to normal. Not wobbly like I'm going to fall or anything, but kind of unbalanced like I'm swaying from side to side a little too much. It is better than when I tried to walk the day after the birth, but still not smooth.
We finally took the plunge and bought a real crib, and LO loves it! He sleeps so much better in it than the pack n play or even in bed with us. Since our bed is soft, one or the other of us would move and LO would wind up rolling up to one of us and waking up. DH put the crib together today. It is in our bedroom for now. He went to sleep in it right away when I put him in. So psyched to get more sleep!!!
I also started using the swing with him yesterday. It's great for when he has been fed and changed and is still fussy. I haven't been leaving him in it for very long, but for short periods it is great. Things are finally starting to seem more manageable. Now I can enjoy the time I do spend feeding him and holding him, knowing that I have somewhere to set him down after that won't make him start crying immediately. I do enjoy holding him, just not constantly!
Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I have all 3 of us, my pump, and my carrier packed in one bag (miracle). Only fail is that LO smells like sour milk and baby funk and there's no time to bathe him! All that's left to do is get some sleep. 4.5 hours until my alarm goes off and 2 more feedings . . . Maybe I should set the alarm a little earlier to fit in coffee. Or espresso so I don't have to pee on the flight. Trip rule #1 - No one's peeing unless they have a diaper on.
Well worst mom award goes to this girl. Addison has just been a super colicky baby. We have her 2 month appointment Monday so I'm not leaving without answers But I was trying to get ready and of course she starts screaming and nothing I did helped besides holding her which I couldn't. Have to work today so I was in a mad rush. Well I started yelling things like "what do you want" and "stop crying" Ugh now she's asleep in my arms. I'm taking a few minutes to just relax before I have to give her to my mom to babysit. I just feel horrible. Obviously all she wanted was some cuddling with me but I was selfish and screamed. Sometimes I just don't know if I can do this anymore. Whenever she's awake 90% of the time she's crying. She started to smile and coo and that definitely makes me feel better but Idk I'm at my wits end
@katyertl That is so, so normal. Experienced bad mom tip for next time: whenever you find yourself overwhelmed and saying mean or snarky (more of a toddler mom thing) things to the baby, leave the house. You would never say those things to the baby in public so it forces you to adopt a more positive attitude. I do this all the time. Even if you just scoop her up and walk to the mailbox it will help. Anywhere where others can hear you.

@katyertl You are not alone. The last time I had LO out in public and she started crying, an old lady commented "how precious" and I responded with "really? You want her?" The old lady didn't find it funny.
I feel weird that I just let her take a 2 hour nap on her belly in her crib. She gets such crappy naps during the day and is a grouch, so I figured let me try putting her on her belly. Well, it worked but I felt so weird doing it since it's been hammered into my head to never let them sleep on her belly. Halfway through her nap she turned her head to the other side so at least that was comforting

I've read that if this happens, the best the to do while waiting for the police or fire dept is to hose down your car. It will keep the temps down.
ETA: it wasnt super hard. he didnt even react aside from his hangry complaining. i still felt bad though.
reading the threads on LOs development and milestones are so concerning for a bit, then i remember your LOs are like twice as old as mine is :P
