Mmmmm I love pickles, but only certain kinds... You know the good ones you get with a good deli sandwich!
My UO is that it drives me nuts when parents transform their whole lives around the baby in a way that creates inflexible children and boring unsocial parents. I know we all have to make changes and sacrifices when we have children, but children need to learn flexibility or else when they head to school they suffer anxiety and stress, because life outside of the home does not revolve all around them. I have friends that are both kinds of parents and the ones with inflexible children have the most poorly behaved, spoiled, temper tantrum children.
Edited: boring for biting... I hope parents aren't biting! Lol
I'm not loving the whole "bigger boob" part of being pregnant AT ALL. I wore a 36D pre-pregnancy and by week 12 I needed a 36DD. Now I'm popping out of those too! And they hurt all the time and make me sweaty and gross in the summer heat and I'm just not a fan.
I kind of like it when there's a little drama on the boards. Not enough to get people warnings or banned, of course, but otherwise it seems kind of boring to me.
I like fun interaction. Talking about cribs and the fact that you, along with the 7800 other people who have already posted it, still have nausea at 16 weeks is not fun. Talking about food and tattoos and having gif parties are much more fun ways to pass time. When that's not happening, a little drama gets things flowing... Eta words, because without all of them, it doesn't quite make sense

Totally agree! It was pretty boring around here in the beginning. I'm thrilled more of the snark came out!!!
DD had a pacifier until 15 months, then she decided to rub it on her vagina when I was changing her diaper. That was the end of it. She sucked to soothe, so it was either be attached to my boob 24/7 or use a pacifier. She handled it very well when I threw it away, though
I don't know how unpopular it is here but... I believe that pot should be leagal across the board. Legalize, tax, and regulate. The amount of revenue that Colorado alone has pulled in from it is astounding and they are putting it to good use in schools and bettering the state. The real "war on drugs" should be targeting the insane amount of increasing meth labs, as that is a scary epidemic that is killing young people at record speed.
@Paige6410 I live in CO, and I honestly forget that it is legalized. People think that because it's legalized, the smokers are going to do it everywhere. Not true. I rarely smell it (unless I'm on 16th St)

I agree alcohol kills more than almost everything and it legal. My mom uses weed for her anxiety and it helped her more than any prescription pill ever did!
My kids have had pacifiers. DD didn't like hers and sucked her thumb instead. I was all high and mighty about that until she is now 5 and still sucks her thumb at night.... DS has one because he was so damn colicky and wanted to suck my boobs 24/7 and I was AT.THE.END. He has one at night (he's 2) but I think he holds it and doesn't even put it in his mouth. We are planning on going cold turkey soon.
I need to think of a good UO

I hate Valentine's Day. As a kid it was fine because everyone got cards from your whole class. In middle school/high school, I wasn't exactly popular with the boys and... let's just say it was very easy to find my locker on V-Day. I still remember feeling left out, even now that I've had someone to love/give me gifts for ten years. So we refuse, which works out great because my cat destroys flowers, and my classroom kids give me enough candy to last until Spring Break.

My hometown is having an epidemic with heroin right now. I've seen so many kids I've gone to school with fall into it and not many make it out. Two kids I went to school with died this week alone. It breaks my fricken heart. You don't know who is struggling with it. They should really legalize pot and then put the money into schools and better mental health/addiction facilities. Our country has gone too long putting bandaids on mental health issues with big pharma or ostracizing people with mental health issues/addictions.
I can understand a sip and see only so far as being a set time to have a bunch people in your house to meet the new baby, rather than having them come over one or two at a time so you never get a moment's peace with your new child.
I think common core is a piece of crap. It was rushed through to be implemented and teaches kids to take a test. As a teacher who wanted to teach common core made me want to rip my hair out.

I couldn't agree more. My younger cousin went to a 90 day facility for heroin, it almost killed her. Most of the time, mental health problems go hand in hand with hardcore drug abuse and addiction. I wish people would remove their heads from their asses and see the bigger picture here.

Yes yes yes!!! I teach math at a school who can't make up their frickin mind! Of the 8 years I have been teaching, I have had 6 different curriculums. Also, the parcc test was a piece of shit, and they have already changed it for next year.
Standardized testing sucks. It's an industry and does nothing to improve education. When they find kids can't pass a test they blame the teachers and then make the test easier. It infuriates me.

I'm currently taking a break from teaching and this is one of the reasons why. Half the stuff I see I don't understand!

It's become a hot topic for a lot of local politicians, now. So the issue is gaining acknowledgement - I know that there has been some head way in Mass with certain cities offering a get out of jail free card if you turn in your supply and ask for help. I know that it started with the "designer drugs". Like oxy, vicodin and percocet - you can get the same low feeling from heroin and it's cheaper - so a lot of kids turn to that. I think that the D.A.R.E programs don't emphasize enough that you will ruin your life. It's more focused on just say no where as they should be teaching you that if you get caught and arrested for dealing/using it's hard to get a good job after you are clean and out of jail. It starts a vicious cycle of criminal behavior out of desperation for survival. Then, I feel like it sadly gets to..."Well, what is there to live for?"

@sherks11 My school is like that too! What drives me nuts is we never give anything a chance...it's always on to the next best thing. I literally have not heard a single positive thing about the PARCC though. It just makes me grateful that I'm in a non-testing grade (kindergarten isn't tested in my state at least, I don't know about others) and I don't have the pressure to teach to the test. When the majority of the school has designated test prep times, I'm still able to do my own thing with my class.
The common core stuff upsets me. DS1 is going into second grade and it's going to be all preparations for the big test (whatever the heck they call it here) in third grade. I really, really wish we could afford private schools. All of the standardized testing makes my head spin.
