I got off work one night around 2 am and went to IHOP by myself, after texting like everybody I knew to come with me and not getting any takers. He was my server and I just watched him, dancing around and singing to EVERY song that came on the radio. I turned around and said "You are precious, do you know that??" And that opened the door for him to sit with me and I ended up waiting around 5 hours for him to get off and we've been inseparable every since. Now expecting our first baby and I can't believe how perfectly everything worked out so I could meet the man of my dreams :x
My husband and I are both teachers. I met him on the very first day that I was student teaching at the school where he works. After that first day, he found reasons to be in the library when my class was in there (more time than he has ever spent in a library in his life), and spent a lot of time lingering in the parking lot to "run into me." When he found out it was my birthday, he made a card and sent it down to my classroom with one of his students. He asked me out later that afternoon. We were inseparable after the first date and have now been very happily married for five years!
Oh, how I wish my story was as cute as some of yours. We went to the same university. One pub night in March a friend of mine got kicked out for walking out a certain door to see a friend, so I was there alone trying to help her back in. I eventually ran into other friends and we had a couple drinks. I wandered off from the crowd and saw two guys sitting together at a table and decided I had to join them. I was slightly inebriated (did I mention I was dressed as a pirate for some strange reason) and talked their ears off for the rest of the night. I gave them my number, even though at the time my phone was cut off. A few weeks later my phone was back up and runing, I got a text that just said "Hey?" I replied hey back and we began talking. It was one of the guys I had been drunkenly talking to that night. It has been Six years together, three married and #2 is on their way :-).
A funny coincidence when I brought my then boyfriend now DH go meet my paternal grandparents they asked what his Surname was. He told them and they asked if he knew Ray and Kathy - Ray and Kathy are his grandparents. Our grandparents were neighbours and best friends until my father was about 17 years old!
We were next door neighbors at school (soph year of college) and became friends. A couple weeks later, we're at a mutual friends party and a creepy guy is hitting on me, not taking the hint. DH comes up to me and seamlessly pretends to be my boyfriend. He was a natural. Then he just to prove his point, he kissed me right then and there. That was 9 years ago this October
Met in 2008 while both working at a movie theater. His sister in law was city manager and he came to town to live with her and go to college. I was 16 and he had a girlfriend back home, but I just thought he was sooo cute! Fast forward to Christmas and he broke up with his back home girlfriend, but another girl asked him out on a date, they came in for a movie after their dinner.. I was so bummed fast forward to NYE, his sister made him work the party that night and my best friends had just moved away so I last min volunteered to work too, manager asked Kenz (my husband) and I to pick up the pizzas for the party and for him to take me home and change.. Later that night, the girl he went on a date with asked if I wanted to leave early and go to a party with her and he over heard. I went and he asked if I wanted to hang out too, I told him maybe after the party and gave him my number. He texted whole time I was there, but party was a bust and me being a rebellious teen told him to pick me up and let's bring in the new year with drinks at his place! Haha well his sister was on her way home so we parked on a quiet street with mixed drinks in water bottles and just hung out.. One thing led to another and 5 weeks later I was pregnant. Longest one night stand ever! September 30th I had our baby, we struggled working out as a couple and getting by in life being so young and parents, but 3 years later at 19 I married him (he was 22) and now he has joined the Air Force and we are living half way across the world about to have our second child!
I love reading these threads! Thank you for starting! Over 10 years ago on the Internet, I was going to join the Navy, he was already in the Navy, and the rest is history!
@CBWifey my husband and I are both Navy too!! (Don't know if you are still in?). I'm super pumped about the tripling of maternity leave!!! Go SECNAV!!
I'm so enjoying reading these ladies! Miine is a saga, but it's my favorite story to tell!
We met in June 2005 through a mutual friend. He saw me on the guy's MySpace and sent me a message that basically said, "Hey, you're hot." Smooth DH, real smooth lol. He ended up asking our friend for my AIM screen name and we started chatting on there which eventually lead to texting and phone calls. Two months later we started hanging out in person and dated briefly, but then I went away to college and we broke up.
We stayed friends and continued to grow closer. We supported each other through the ups and downs of failed relationships, but never go the timing right to ever date each other. He always said, "You know we're gonna end up together Jamie..." But when I was single he had a girlfriend and vice versa. And then the unthinkable happened. HE GOT ENGAGED. And my heart was broken...I thought I lost my chance.
About three months after his engagement, he started telling me how unhappy he was. He felt pressured to propose, it wasn't right, and he didn't see himself spending his life with this girl. I was very diplomatic and supported him through it which was so hard, because all I wanted to do was go all Grey's Anatomy on him and yell, "Pick me! Choose me! Love me!" lol. But I didn't, and two months later he was single again. And I was single too. For the first time in six years, we were both single at the same time. I wasn't going to miss my chance this time...he had almost gotten away!
So then the next day he wanted to Skype. With the encouragement of my best friend and a little liquid courage (about a half a bottle of Pinot Grigio LOL) I told him how I felt. I basically said, "I love you...I need you to know that I'm in love with you and I have been for years." And he told me that he loved me too and the reason that he called off his engagement was because she wasn't me. *swoon*
A month later in October 2011 we finally, FINALLY got together after six years of being best friends. In 2013 we got engaged. In 2014 we got married. And now we have a baby on the way!
Im going to say something personal (please dont judge)
Im a recovering alcoholic (sober over a year now) and i look back at when i was drinking and feel nothing but shame however meeting my DH changed me he made me want to better myself and when i went through withdrawls and started having seizures he never left my side. He made me realize i have way to much to live for (our kids him and my family) im so thankful for him everyday. I need to get a tissue now (
I went to a tiny charter school that didn't offer driver's Ed so I had to go to the local high school. I was super into goth clothing and he was the only other person in class who dressed like me. I scheduled every drive to be with him (if I could) and tried talking to him on numerous occasions- I got one-word answered. That was when I was 14 and he was 16, and I never saw him after that despite visiting my friends at the local high often, trying to bump into him again.
Fast-forward 5 years and we end up working in the same restaurant, him a busser, me a server. I remembered him instantly, he had no recollection of it. He invited me to his St Paddy's Day party (after stealing my number off of my "private" work files) and when I showed up he was already completely plastered. I ended up carrying him to his room where he admitted to thinking I was cute and invited me to hang out another time when he wasn't so drunk. The next time we hung out we started dating and have been together ever since. Second baby, and 2.5 years of marriage later, I still think he's the smoldering stud I met back in high school.
We met at work - actually at a work event (we are both attorneys but worked in different offices at the time) which lead to heavy-duty secret flirting and a makeout after a work Christmas party.
The twist is that he was working as a prosecutor and I was working as a defense attorney -- so we had to tell our bosses IMMEDIATELY or we might have been assigned to the same cases which would have caused ethical issues. So we went public after about 2 weeks!! I remember thinking that I really hoped this would work out - but also that I somehow knew it would.
We've been married for almost 2 years and this baby is #2 - we didn't waste any time!
DH and I met when we were 12. We both took karate together. I was homeschooled, but he went to public school. He was already a black belt and I was a wimpy orange belt. HA! So my Mom thought it would be a good idea have him and few other of my friends from karate go bowling on a Friday night and we had fun. My Mom had a mini van then and almost all of us rode together. His little sister was in the very back with me and she asked if I liked DH and I went red in the face so she starts singing "SHE LIKES YOU, SHE LIKES YOU" I went so red. So we were boyfriend and girlfriend and went everywhere together. He got more into wrestling in school though and we almost never saw each other after a year so we broke up, but we were always each others' best friend. We would call the other one whenever we needed someone and the other would come running. Like, when his father passed away in 2011, we hadn't talked in years, but I was the first person he called.
We kept trying to get back together, but something would always get in the way. So last year we started talking again and my parents hated it, but we knew it was what we wanted and so we packed up, went to Florida, decided to get married while we were there and BOOM! Here we are. We're dorks, but it's fun that we've known each other so long and we're still learning things about each other!
We met in high school my freshman year, he was a junior. We dated two years and broke up after he graduated. He were at different stages in life by that time. We both had a couple of relationships that didn't work out. So three years later we reconnected through my bff and the rest is history. We just celebrated 7 years together this last May and we got married in June (about time!). Now we are expecting our first baby. We were meant to be and found our way back to each other.
We met through eharmony. We clicked on the phone. He was newly divorced and was a train wreck on the first date. I knew I'd give him a second chance when he said, " I read an article online about the 10 things not to do on a first date and I'm pretty sure I've done 8 of them already". He's been keeping me in stitches since then.
High school sweethearts. We aren't even sure anymore how long we've been together. Tomorrow is our 3 year wedding anniversary. And still crazy about each other
I met him through a girlfriend I worked with at a tan salon. He was her roommate. She had one of those random moments where she wanted to work out one day. I came over to work out in her apartment gym. She mentioned her roommate was 30 and ready to settle down. I laughed it off but he got home from work and he caught my eye. He walked me to my car later and I told him to keep my number because I'm awesome. My name is in his phone as awesome still
I met my husband when I was 15, but we were both dating other people and were all just good friends. He joined the marines and went all over the world and I went off to college and grad school. Fast forward 17 years after we first met, and we reconnected on Facebook. Within 6 months we were dating, engaged the following year, and just got married this year in jan! Next jan we will be welcoming our baby boy
I think I beat all yall! My SO was in a very long relationship before me. They broke up and he decided to go out with one of his guy friends. They just so happened to come to me and my at the time boyfriends house. SO was VERY shy and didn't say a word to anyone. Me being very talkative said "I like your shirt". To make the story shorter me and my ex broke up and a week later I met up with the mutual friend of ex and SO at his exs grandmothers house?!?! WHAT! He asked me if I could flirt with him to make her jealous. (She cheated on him) so I took the golden opportunity to throw some karma back in her face and the rest is history!
Ps. We still argue about who beat who in beer pong that night! Haha
Go SECNAV!!
This made me literally laugh out loud. My DH and I are obsessed with NCIS, we have been working through the whole series. When you said Go SECNAV, I was like "babe SECNAV" is a real thing" - not like I thought it wasn't just funny to hear it outside of TV. Anyway, mad respect for all of you men and women who fight for your countries!
Met him at a college event. I was bored listening to music in my ipod, he came up to me asked me what I was listening too. Been unseperetable since 2011
Match.com. Met thanksgiving weekend 2009, engaged 9 months later, married 9 months after that. This will be our third (and last!) baby in less than 2 year.
We met at a bar! I was writing in my journal (I was 22 and emo lol) because I had just moved to SF and didn't know anyone. She comes up to me and says "oh are you a writer? Me too!" And we get to talking. I knew from that night she was my person but we were both with other people. (I had only been dating my gf at the time for like a month and it was long distance.) So we became friends and I never said anything. 3 years later she is finally single and I told her I liked her...the rest is history! We've been together 5 years and married 2. loving all these cute stories! I love love!
Married DW 08.2013; AI 2x; IUI 6x; IUI #7 05.2015; DD born 2.2016 ; Reciprocal IVF FET #1 on 11.18.2020
We were coworkers at an independent book store. I'd been there a couple years already so I trained new clerks on the cash register. We had a shift schedule that listed everyone's breaks, on/off times, etc, and everyone was identified by their initials. So one day I came to work and there were a new set of initials on the schedule next to mine, meaning there was a new hire and they'd probably be shadowing me. Now, like a lot of indie book stores, our staff was 90% women (mostly into dudes at that time, but with a high variance) and the guys who worked there were often not super into partners of the female persuasion. So when we learned we were getting a new coworker a lot of us would often wonder if it would be a boy? Would he be straight? Would he be MINE? The heady sexual undercurrent you've been feeling at your local book store is not just a figment of your imagination people! So anyway I'm at the register wondering all my wonders when a very handsome man with obvious it-is-my-first-day-and-I-am-scared-but-trying-to-seem-eager face, sexy glasses and an endearing vaguely duck-footed walk (I later learned he'd been teased about it in school and developed a fondness for ducks because of it) appeared and I was immediately like YES IN FACT IT *IS* MINE.
Knocked him out and he's been chained up in my Special Room in the basement ever since.
Nah jus playin - the rest was your typical two people are attracted to each other and they flirt at work for a few months before shyly making it official and then falling in love, getting married, etc etc
I had just gone through a really rough breakup with someone I was engaged to, and my bossy best friend nagged me until I agreed to go out with her husband's friend (now my DH). I was not ready for another relationship, but I agreed to go just to shut her up. 5 months later we were engaged, now we've been married for 9 months and expecting first baby in January.
We met back in 2003 at college. He lived across the hall. My boyfriend at the time had said to me "I don't want you meeting your neighbor, you are totally going to fall in love with him." After two years of just being friends it happened, been in love since 2005!
@mkatefin303 Thank you for your service, both of you! After 3 tries over 2 years, I couldn't get in, medical disqualification. But, the hubby is still in 14 years! I am so happy they tripled the maternity leave. We know a lady who just had twins, and this is a blessing for her! Congrats on your pregnancy! Go NAVY!
@nickicb7 You crack me up! I have that same enthusiasm for JAG! They only do replays once in awhile now. It's funny when if Hubby sees me watching anything Navy he'll be like, that uniform is wrong, that's not the right rank, that guy is too young to be Captain etc etc. so what, lol, I still love Top Gun and am totally going crazy there's talk of a sequel with Cruise! And congrats to you on your pregnancy!
My hubby and i first met when i was still in grade 8. he was in grade 9 and was friends with my older sister. I was not interested at all at the time and never really talked to him (he was a year younger than my sister and her friends and basically was their errand boy and followed them around, yuck). When i was grade 11, we both went on a high school Europe trip and realized we liked hanging out together. He had also expanded his friend circle by grade 12 and was a more mature, independent guy that I could actually have some respect for lol His following around like a lost puppy dog trait evolved into a really sweet, people pleasing characteristic, that I still help him once in a while to remember that it is okay to say no sometimes and not to over-extend himself to the point of being burnt out! We were inseparable after the trip, and have been together for over 8 years now also, after we started dating, my Mom let me know that she had him matched up with me in her head since he was first hanging out with my sister. Not sure how many people believe in psychic stuff, but my Mom had also gone to a psychic prior to the high school trip and he told her all about a guy who had been around our house before, 6'3" tall, big hair, size 13 shoe, great family, and would likely be "the one." Needless to say, the reading was a little mixed up since it was actually a prediction for my twin sister (who also went on the trip), but it worked out for me!! lol My theory is, people mixed up me and my sister's names for the whole trip, so the psychic did too.
DH and I met in high school at a New Years Eve-Eve party he hosted. His friend had moved across the country the year before and came to stay with him between Christmas and New Years. One of my friends was friends with that friend and she wanted somebody to come with her to the party so I went. He was trashed that night and I somehow found the fact that he drank a handle of vodka impressive (I had never drank at that point and he was clearly everything my mom was afraid of me meeting LOL). He asked for my number and then called me the next day but I was at practice. I ended up texting him back because I hate talking on the phone and agreed to come over. The picture is from that night We got pregnant with DS when I was 21 and got married on our 6 year dating anniversary. And this LO is due the day before our 5 year wedding anniversary.
@nickicb7

LOL, thats funny, but I can totally relate. I can not watch Chicago Fire with my DH. If I do he is always criticizing the firefighters and what they should and should not be doing. Thanks and same to you!
We went to church together for a few years, we never paid each other any attention. Until we took a mission trip to MT which is when we started talking and giving each othe Eskimo kisses (I was 15 ok) he was to scared to give me real kisses. It was another year before we started dating because after the trip he started ignoring me, apparently my dad or brother said I couldn't date, so I started dating another guy. We got married when I was 19 so if you're wondering why this is such a suckish story it's because we were teenagers. We dated for almost 3 years
These are great ladies thanks for sharing! DH and I met on the school when we were 13, through a mutual friend. I thought he was a total ass. He asked me out a year later and I was actually thrilled. We'll be celebrating 14 yrs together this December. He's still an ass, but I still love him.
I met my SO summer of sophomore year at a summer school camp called Upwards Bound. We talked a few times but i was really shy back then and didnt realize he liked me until he tried to kiss me one day "> and i got scared and stayed clear of him lol he moved on(eventually got engaged) and we never talked after that summer. Around new years after i graduated high school his profile popped up on Facebook so i decided to add him. After he accepted of course i went looking through his profile and found out he was single again. So me not being shy anymore wrote on his wall. We commented a few times which led to him giving me his #. We talked over text, phone and fb for a month until we decided it was time to hang out. Our first date(hangout) was on my birthday he took me to the movies and i fell asleep halfway through lol. That following weekend(superbowl sunday) i met his dad and now mother in law and her family. 2 weeks later we made our relationship official! A month later i moved in with him. 4 1/2 years later we are engaged with a 16 month old son and baby #2 due January 4th and couldn't be happier :x
We met at Joe's Crabshack during a get together of friends when I was in high school. He'd graduated two years before, but this was a thing that both of our parents had been to and were at and so forth. Basically all of our immediate family had met except us.
Anyways, we all then went out to SpeedZone and instead of going home with my mom and brother he drove me. We set in the drive way of my house just talking until about 3am. Next day we went to a baseball game, which was Sunday. By Tuesday we had hung out every day and that evening I told him I loved him already. 4 days! The shocking part is he said it back immediately. We've now been together 11 years and married for 8 with one daughter and another baby on the way. So happy!
We met in middle school, about 8th grade! Went to see Harry Potter 2 together, awkwardly held hands and have been together ever since! Ahaha. Going on 12 years, married for 3, first baby! :x
In high school, there was a guy who was a couple of years older than me, super popular, but he was a player (I always thought of him as a slut for girls, but obviously he was a boy), there was not a cute girl in HS he did not hook up with. All we did was make out, but I was a virgin and he tried getting me to have sex with him. Of course, when I said "no" he lost all interest in me and never spoke to me again.
Surprisingly, three years later, I get a text from someone. Not Boyslut, but his friend. Saying "hey this is soandso. My friend gave me your number, maybe we can talk and hang out sometime." I guess this new guy just had gone through a series of bad breakups and girls that were cheating on him and he was done trying to meet someone new. BoySlut gave him my number for some odd reason, because he thought I wasn't a POS like every other girl he met, or just because he thought his buddy needed a hook up. Either way, less than a month later, we were dating and attached at the hip. (I used to stare at him in the hall in school and just say "omg he's so hot, no one like him is ever going to be with me." And now he's the father of my future child. I love life. (: I stare at him and just think to myself "how the hell did I get so lucky?"
My best friend met him at her job & wanted to use him as a hookup because he was "so hot" and he invited her to a party he was having at his house (this was 5 years ago) .. She of course brought me & he was definitely flirty with me all night long .. I finally had to tell the drunk ass hole my friend was into him .. A few days later she says he's asking for my number, I didn't want to step on her toes and she just laughed and gave it to him.. Here we are, married now with baby #2 on the way! :x
