Circumcision (no negative comments**)

Re: Circumcision (no negative comments**)

  • I just love how many people do it just cause other people have had it done.

Well if you think about it that is how society works by and large. It is hard to go against the grain and be willing to justify your decision (although I find it sad that we feel we have to be prepared to justify any decision).
I was FF and so was DH, and all of our siblings. We were also all raised in disposable diapers.
So when he and I chose to BF and CD our daughter, we experienced a lack of support, and sometimes outright criticism for our decisions, because people in our families hadn't done it before and didn't know anyone else who had either. I wish I could tell you otherwise but we experienced the same thing when we decided our family would be better off for me to stop working and stay at home.
Really the problem is that everyone thinks they're entitled to have an opinion and make judgment regarding the decisions that you make.
All I hope is that people make a decision for their self and not anyone else, and not judge anyone else's decision.

  • @tudokin I watched the same reports few years ago before I ever even thought about circumcision but it got me thinking about it.

Honestly, I really don't care what one family chooses to do with their child. I am choosing to not circumcise my boy and will do the same with a future boy but if you feel like it's the right decision for you, then it is. I have to admit that I really appreciate this discussion and the fact that most comments (other than some super judgy ones) have been pretty respectful for such a touchy subject!

  • Men want their sons to look like them. My ex husband wanted both our kids circumcised...so I went with it. My current hubby wouldn't even consider it...and I won't push it. It's a boy thing so I chose to let my hubby's do what they want in that regards.

My first son had to have it done twice from a complication. My second son was fine. Things happen either way.

If I were having a boy this time I did want this boy to look like my others. But it's way too important for my husband....so I'll let him win this one lol
  • Lol @Myelhsa it could be worse.
