DH and I have discussed a few names. He's a third and was convinced that his first born son was going to be a fourth. I've always known that I was not going to name my children exactly the same as me or my husband so we've gone back and forth between names. We have an extra layer of difficulty in that I want a name that's the same in English and Spanish because I'm Mexican. So far we like Oliver and Elliot for boys and Rebecca and Emily for girls. At one point though (there was a lot of wine involved) he tells me that I agreed to Samwise (from lord of the rings) and also Luke and Leia if we had twins. I don't remember this so I guess I'll have to be sure that another adult is in the room whenever the birth certificates have to be signed.
We don't have names picked out but I definitely joke about doing something that is a play on words....our last name is Green.
So like maybe Olive Green, Hunter Green, Ever Green...something like that. I find it hilarious. Probably will never do that but it's entertaining to us right now while TTC.
@jenfarm3 we are the same way lol - girls names have been so much harder for us because we would like to have a boy! Obviously we would be happy with any healthy baby but I just picture myself as a boy mom But then I keep thinking I'm going to get a girl because I always talk about boys lol!
But none of you are crazy! I've been thinking about baby names since I was young and then MH and I have talked about them hypothetically for years and now some of them have just stuck! If we have a son the first one will definitely be named Brady Clark (middle name passed down through 6 generations on his father's side and I just think it's so cute and it reminds me of superman). Second boy would be Carter Ray (middle name coming from my side of the men in my family). So I guess our theme is we pick the first name and use a family name for the middle name
For girls I LOVE the name Lily, and we will use Marie since that is from my family. He is skeptical about Lily because of How I Met Your Mother which we watch all the time, but I'm like if we can't use any name from any TV show then we are going to have to get reallyyyy creative! Lol!
@heatherbunn24 Our last name is Brown so I can totally relate! We've joked about Golden Brown, Hazel Brown, Amber Brown. I will not do anything like that in reality but MH wishes we would.

Good luck!
LOL. Our last name is Farmer so this is a common joke for us also. Brock Lee Farmer, Lily Farmer (our niece is Lily... she's not a Farmer tho! Lol.) It's pretty fun. Of course I'd never do that to a kid though.
DH loves the middle name Walker. Idk why (maybe it's his zombie obsession) but he's stuck on it. We really liked the name Dash, but Dash Walker just... poor kid. I can't do it. LOL.

We had our names picked out for our first baby well before we got pregnant, and partly it was to avoid opinions and suggestions from his mother. We said "we're pregnant, and these are the names we have chosen." We have a girls name for the next baby chosen already, Colette, but no middle name yet. I like Elisabeth, but it is my sister's name and I worry that it would cause drama with DH'S mom because it would only be my family. If it is a boy we will use the name we had chosen for baby #1 had she been a boy, Asher Crosby. Asher is DH'S dad's middle name and grandfather's first name, and Crosby is a family name on my side.
I'm deadset on naming a daughter Amanda. My mom told me when I was little that she wanted to name me that, but my dad had a goddaughter named Amanda (not a relative, just a close friend's kid) so it would get confusing....and ever since I've been 100% deadset on the name.
As far as boys....no idea. Every name I like, DH says "ehhh" and that's as far as we got. I sorta like Nathan but DH knew a Nate who was a rotten kid, so idk. Lol
I love talking about baby names! It is so exciting. However, when I suggest a name to my hubby he usually looks at me in disgust. He's doesn't like to look and think outside the box, he likes to stay in there. Lol. For example, I like the name Hudson for a boy, I think it's super cute. He hates it. But, we have came across names that we can agree on. Like Aubree(or Aubrie, not sure on spelling yet.), Arielle, and Matthew. He likes the name Beau, but I'm not totally sold on it. He can be very stubborn sometimes. -_-

LOL. "looks at me in disugst." Sounds like my DH every time I mention an idea for a girl name. Hahaha. Sigh. So frustrating.

I love thinking about baby names! With our two boys, we had names picked out before we found out what we were having. I can't help but think about names while we're TTC before I'm even pregnant....its kind of addicting. We have names pretty much picked out this time unless we change our minds in the meantime. If we get pregnant again and have a 3rd boy his name will be Grayson Thomas or if we have a girl, her name will be either Gwendolyn Marie or Gwendolyn Anne (all three mn's are family names). My 6 year olds name is Ethan Huntington (mn is a tradition for each first born boy) and my 2 year old is Finnley Jack.

Lol this is me too! Similar to @marikkita12 we need names that work in two languages (Dansih and English). DS is Sebastian and we were set on that for years! Girl name we would have used last time was Lily Mae but I'm starting to like Penelope more now (nn Penny). Problem is, Penny Mae sounds like a financial institution lol (Fannie Mae, Sallie Mae) AND our last name begins with P. Do you guys think that ruins it? Second boy name we're are thinking Lucas or Jasper but I can't commit to either. Next time will be much harder, name wise!
My husband and I have discussed names, and so far we have settled on a girl's name. I haven't shared it with a lot of people because every girl's name I like, someone has used it and that was pretty aggravating lol. For the life of us, we can't settle on a boy's name. I don't really like super traditional names, but I don't want something completely out there lol. Every name he likes, I hate, and every name I like he says "eh....I don't know...."...good thing we have time hahaha
We pretty much picked out a boy and a girls name before we got pregnant lol! We're having a girl and still happy with our name picked. I'm not sure on middle names though? I don't see there purpose x
Before we had our daughter, we had 1 girl name and 1 boy name picked out. Once I was pregnant, we went back and forth but ultimately did decide on the name we had originally picked out. This time around, if it's a girl, we'll go back to the drawing board. If it's a boy, I think we're about 99% set.
My husband and I, when we decided that we wanted to start a family, to celebrate the occasion not only did we stop smoking (cold turkey) but we sat out under the stars and picked out names for both a boy and a girl first and middle names to boot. I think it was kind-of a bonding with the (hopefully) soon to be babies that were yet to be made.
My husband and I picked out baby names actually before we were engaged. Recently we had a bit of an update discussion with only on minor change/possibility but were still pretty much on board with the things we spoke about years ago!
DH and I also have talked names since before even being engaged. For a girl we like Whitney or Brooke. I also really like Katie and Harper, but Harper is too trendy and our last name is a two syllabol "H" name and sounds super silly! Boys is harder. I have been obsessed with Jackson for 20 years now since the first time I ever saw Steel Magnolias, but it's too trendy now for me to even consider it DH is a "r" name and while I don't love Jrs, I don't mind the name RJ. His dad is Nick, and another name I like so maybe we would name a boy after him. I really like Julian but he doesn't. We both kinda like Clark. Jacob is also a contender (jake) Good thing we haven't had a bfp yet... Gives us more time to find a perfect name!
You ladies are so lucky! We discuss just about everything to do with parenting, pregnancy, and birth, etc...however I can NOT get him to chat about names! We aren't TTC yet, so of course they likely won't stick, but we plan to soon and it would be fun to discuss! I want unique but not unheard-of, classy sounding names for girls or boys. It's hard to choose though, a name is for life! Plus a lot that I like are names of someone I already know, and it would be weird, haha!
When we got pregnant the first time (MC) the biggest thing we couldn't agree on was a name, so as soon as we made the decision to TTC, my super OCD organizer nerd side got me making charts. I had brought up a lot of names in passing and we couldn't agree on any, so while DH was at work I began my research. *insert maniacal laughing noise here* I looked at what feels like every baby naming website in existence and every name that I could even possibly consider naming our LO went onto the charts. One chart for a boy, and one for a girl. They each included the first name choice, meaning, and origin, as well as possible middle names that might go with it. Every night when he came home, I would have him eliminate the choices he hated, and tell him to think about the others. If anyone ever makes fun of my love of all things MS Word again, I will just shrug it off, because this was so flipping easy. We decided on Leonard Caden for a boy. Leonard is for Leonard Nimoy and Leonard McCoy (yeah when I said nerd, I wasn't kidding). Caden serves dual purposes since Cade is my father's birth last name (he was adopted) as well as a traditional Welsh name since my DH is Welsh. For a girl we chose Elliot Carinna. Elliot after the missionary family, and Carinna is a Welsh name that means little darling which just makes me squeal it's so stinkin' cute.

Oh, I totally agree with the teachers on page two: some names get ruined! You do come across some interesting options, though. The 'oddest' name I had in my class the year before last was Boediejan.
DH and I are pretty set on wanting names that work in English but cannot be pronounced in a Dutch way.. 'Thomas' for instance, would sound fine with an English pronunciation, but as a Dutch name..? No thanks. :S
I am rather keen on Remisius, to be honest. It was my great-grandfather's name and I figured you can refer to your child as Remi or Remus, for instance. DH is a massive Game of Thrones fan, so I have a gut feeling that I might have to ban some options (I am not having a daughter called Khaleesi! xD)
Hey, ladies. I haven't posted in a couple years BUT we have BOTB again :-) Yes, we both have been thinking about names though I haven't even gotten my mirena out yet. I may or may not have a list going in my phone...

I had one class with 3 Jonathans and 3 Joses. I also had two Jonathans with the same last name, but fortunately they weren't in the same class
