November 2015 Moms

Post Those Nursery Photos!

I thought it would be nice to have a post where we can show the progress on our nurseries. Post your photos so we can all see!

Our colors are sage green, sky blue, aqua, and peach. The curtains/rug are from Overstock, the valance is from Etsy, the glider is from Craigslist, the crib is from BabiesRUs, and the letters for hanging over the crib are from Michaels. I made the book quotes myself by using card stock and a gold gel pen. Next will be some hanging bookshelves and a project I'm doing making hot air balloons out of paper lanterns and mini baskets to hang in the corner.

Precious nursery!!! Can't wait to see more pictures as others post! We will be starting on our nursery in the next 2 weeks so I will post when we start getting some stuff set up! Our nursery colors for our baby girl are pink, seafoam green, gold and white. We have our wall color and bed picked out. We are going with the color "waterfall" from Sherwin Williams. Our convertible crib/dresser/nightstand is Sorelle Vista Elite  in White from Babies R Us. Nursery bedding is Harper in Light Pink from Pottery Barn Kids! I am excited to add some artwork I have found on Etsy and I am going to attempt to make a mobile I saw on Pinterest!

    Well I'm a slacker....

Yeah, this... I have the starts of a vision in my head, if that counts for anything?

I am completely in the same boat. I have all the ideas in my head but I don't see it getting started until end of August or September. Our spare room is currently occupied by my younger brother. I told him he has until August to either move down to our finished basement (which is like a whole other house in itself) or find his own place.
  • Lol our future nursery is currently full of boxes, two desks and a craft table. This weekend will be the clean-out and we'll finally bring the crib upstairs and start organizing baby stuff. Probably won't make real progress till after my shower in August (early, I know, but my mom and sister and coming cross-country and it was the weekend that worked for both of them.

    Mine too!
  • Ours is just 4 walls of primer. Nothing exciting to show yet. But the images in my head are adorbs! ;)
  • Love the pictures! I'll share mine so far later, stupid Android app doesn't let me upload pics from my phone lol
  • Out future nursery has been our guest room which also happens to be our "I don't know where to put this so put it in here" room. My goal is to have it cleaned out by the middle of August so we can start turning it into a nursery. My dad is building our crib which converts from a crib to a toddler bed to a day bed then to a full bed! So excited!!! We are doing a nautical theme with anchors, whales, octopus, and sharks.
  • These are so cute! I can't wait to decorate the nursery but we are waiting for now. Baby will be in our room for the first 4 months, until our son turns 2. Then we'll move him into his new "big boy" room (currently the guest room) and redo the nursery for baby girl. I can't wait though!

Mines in l August too. I wanted to still be somewhat comfortable in the heat, plus the following weekend my BFs dad is having major surgery and will be in SF hospital for 3-6 weeks recovering from a kidney transplant, from my BFs older brother who will be at his parents recovering after his week long stay at the hospital. Aug will be a busy month. LOVE everyone's nurseries! I've emptied ours out from all the clutter, but haven't actually started anything yet. Lots of ideas though. I definitely think that counts.
  • Jealous of all the moms that already have their shit together....I'm lurking from Aug 2015 moms and haven't even started my nursery yet!
  • I haven't even started mine yet.. I'm planning on waiting until i'm finished with summer school (july 31st) to start the cleaning and organization process since baby girl and I will be sharing the same room for the first 8 months or so of her life until I can find a bigger place. but the Idea that I have in my head is awesome! i'll post photos when it comes together more :D

  • @BlondeMomma92, just wanted to make you aware that your ticker is showing up in code. You might need to copy the codes and then go back to your signature settings and click the little paper icon with the red <> symbol and post the code in there and then save. Then it should show up as a picture instead of code on your post. The same thing happened to me the first time I went to set it up and then I finally figured it out with the help of some of the wonderful ladies on this board! :)

Lol... you're doing better than me. I have no clue of what I want to do with the nursery.... but I have a disassembled crib if that counts for anything.
  • @mrsaragon How hard was it to paint the crib? I've been debating this too because ours is brown and I'm not feeling it lol

I sanded it really well to take the lacquer off of it and then put 2 coats of paint on it! It's was very easy, just time consuming. I got ours at a consignment store with the hardware to transition it into the toddler bed for $40. After paint and materials wound up costing me about $80 altogether! Well worth the 2 days of mess for me!

Edited for spelling. I'm full of brain farts today. Lol.
  • Not to worry, ladies! We're all at slightly different points in our pregnancies. I think it's completely fine if you haven't started the nursery yet. My due date was actually moved from November 1st to October 27th. I only have so much done because my due date is a little earlier, plus I'm a teacher and trying to get most of the decor type stuff done before the school year starts up again since that will take up all of my time once it hits.
  • We close on our house August 21st so I can't do anything in her room until then at least, but I did buy the material to make bedding for her bassinet to match my bedroom since she will be with us for a little bit before going to share a room with DD! I must say, I'm getting quite the collection of things to set up in the girls room when we finally do move in ;)

My oldest son is 5, I am on my 4th boy and have never re done the room from my first..... I feel bad for the younger 3 who have all had the same airplane theme as my first (unless this one comes out a surprise girl then I will be scrambling!)
  • The pics from the first kid...
  • All we've done is put the closet system up in the nursery and I've been on Pinterest like a junkie.

However, last year, we closed on our home August 14th and still managed to put together my daughter's nursery (see pic) before she was born 12 days after (August 26th). I have to give some hope that last minute nurseries can be pulled off!

I love that dresser, where did you get it if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking for one just like it!

I think that's an IKEA dresser. We have the one in blue in our bedroom. Is it? ;)
  • For everyone that has not started the nursery yet, here is a picture of ours. :)

I'm pretty sure we have the same nursery lol I have all the stuff just don't have it together yet lol and because we have to have paint approved by the complex management we are just doing super cute wall decals.. I'm not going to go through all that crap just to paint a corner of the room.. Wall decals are cuter anyway..

    Same. Just a mess

It looks like the Hemnes dresser from Ikea.  I'm getting it for my girls room too.  lol.  Love that it's an 8 drawer instead of a 6 drawer dresser.  The little drawers are perfect for baby's diaper items and transitions to sock and underwear drawers as they get older.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

  • I agree, looks like the hemnes dresser from IKEA. We are getting it too. Perfect for baby's room!
  • @HungryRunner76 that's the same dresser we want to purchase! Glad to see it looks so good in a finished nursery. Is that a clothes hamper to the right of the dresser? That is absolutely adorable!
  • @Lynnbirds4 love love love the lattice accent wall!

We are putting the finishing touches on our nursery this weekend! I swear decorating the nursery eases my anxiety about all the things I have absolutely no control over!
  • FTM here. We haven't started yet, but we won't have much to work with until after the baby shower, which is at the end of September. All I have right now are some clothes & a few random goodies I got in my Gearapalooza grab bag. Plus, the nursery still has boxes of random stuff from when we moved in February.

The goal is to clean out the nursery in the next couple weekends, and set up a closet system. The room will be pink & gold with white furniture. :)

  • @AngieandJakeBailey - all the PPs are correct! It's the Hermnes dresser from IKEA - we did do different knobs though. We are likely to use the same for this nursery too. It's actually a really nice piece of furniture!

@segorman17 - it is a hamper! You can get it from Home Depot or (I think) Home Decorators. It's the medium sized one - just FYI.
