I am having a tough time running how I used to for fear I am going to cause damage to the baby. I had an early miscarriage last August. It started as I got done with a half marathon. I know they say running is fine, and that I probably wasn't too blame but I still just feel scared to keep running. It feels fine to run though. I train for and run several marathons a year. I am signed up for 2 still this year. Not sure what to do about those quite yet. Are there any other runners out there that can relate? Are you continuing your training? Are you scared to keep running?

I've scaled back since finding out I'm pregnant and only doing 3 miles 3x per week. My doctor advised against marathons/ half marathons while pregnant, but definitely encourages me to keep running (slow enough that you an carry on a conversation), keep hydrated and eat something very small before/after I run.
The doctor mainly discouraged against rigorous training bc it's already in the 90s. HOT.
If you live in a cooler climate, you might be able to keep running comfortably!
It also gives a reference to a book I'm going to look at

I ran through my first pregnancy and documented it on my website: www.chaseeverysecond.com
Since having a baby I'm no where near the same mileage level as I used to be and run about 25 miles/week now. I plan to maintain that mileage at a slower pace and then run/walk if needed as I get towards the end of my second pregnancy.
Through this pregnancy and my previous one I worked with my doctor on what would be the appropriate level of effort. Definitely work with yours so they can consider all factors (your health, family history, etc.) into the equation.

I run long distance as well - mostly halves, but some fulls as well. I struggled to get pregnant because I was exercising so hard and it was messing with my progesterone and ovulation. I decided after my last 10-miler and half in March and April that I would cut back substantially. Six weeks after I cut back, I got my BFP. I do, however, think this varies from person to person as I know plenty of people who have gotten pregnant while training for a marathon. In the end, I think you need to listen to your body and your doctor. For me, I am mostly walking and doing an hour of weights 3 times a week - with some light running (2-3 miles at a slower than normal pace without intervals).
Glad to see there are so many athletes on this board!

My Chart
Last go around, I ended up needing new (larger) running shoes during the third trimester and did a lot more walking, as I had a lot of pregnancy related lower back discomfort.
So happy to have fellow runners to geek out with!
I had a MC in April and ran at that time and while I'm sure it was not related based on what the docs said and what I've read I can't shake the uncertainty.
We used an RE this time to get our BFP and they were very strict that I don't overheat or do anything too physical during my TWW so I have refrained from starting back up. They specifically said no hot yoga or running or spin.
FWIW when I was pregnant with my son, I went to spin classes til I was 36 weeks pregnant and only stopped bc my bump was too big. I also had a friend that jogged while pregnant with twins. I think all pregnancies are different and trust your body and your doctor, but being overly cautious is the route I'm personally taking this time!
