I just made a massive to do list. Three pages later I realize I'm a bit insane. It might be helpful though, so I thought I'd share a few of my items. Feel free to add your own! FYI - I am due Oct. 1, so your timelines may be a bit more relaxed.
Early August
Finalize freezer meals and prepare
Buy snacks for hospital bag
Buy birthday cards for the rest of the year
Buy extra stamps (for baby announcements/Christmas cards)
Wash NB & 0-3 month baby clothes
Finalize HR paperwork (FMLA, STD)
Early September

Make/freeze lactation cookies
Prepare e-mails for work that I won't be in because baby is coming!

Re: To do list
@birdee212
This is just a fraction of my list. My third list is things to do before August! DH asked what was on the list, and gave up about 5 items in when he realized I was just getting started.
July:
- get carpets cleaned in Nursery
- buy SUV (I've put this off ever since getting pregnant)
- empty nursery closet
- schedule pediatrician appointments
- update will
- buy nursery bedding
August:
- organize shower gifts (return duplicates)
- organize nursery & dresser
- buy remaining registry must haves
- assemble newborn items
September:
- buy snacks for hospital bag
- pack hospital bags
- buy mom items
- install car seat
- buy extra toilet paper and paper towels
- clean guest room for my mom
@leighann1 I always hand write with boxes next to it so I can put check marks when it's done
Not to scare anyone, but there are only two months before October arrives. That's why my list is so long. Thanks to everyone who is adding. I want to make sure I don't forget anything.
To my fellow list makers. Sometimes I add extra steps just for the satisfaction of crossing it off. For example, my list can say buy snacks for hospital bag, but then I list all the snacks I want! I may need help.
Snacks: granola bars, Oreos, fruit cups, napkins, spoons, PB crackers, etc.
I have a separate list for all of my work things that have to get taken care of before I'm off (get my equipment switched over to my girl covering, double check PTO levels, draft I'm on maternity leave emails, etc)
I have a list of what rooms need to be cleaned top to bottom and have included things like:
Organizing closets/cupboards, washing and ironing curtains, cleaning mini blinds, inside of freezer/fridge/stove.
I have a list of stuff to do for baby and baby room (have all clothes washed, clothes organized by size, crib made up, insurance stuff, write a will)
Then I have a list for stuff we need to buy for the house, for me, stuff to stock up on (including an extra bag of feed for all of our animals), and a list of stuff we still have to have for baby.
Then I have a list of what is going to go in the hospital bag.
I found a book at a garage sale that last weekend that I really like. It's called getting organized for your new baby by Maureen bard and Christine zuchora-walske that has been helpful.
A few items from my list:
- steam clean carpets and sofa
- wash sheets, blankets, and clothing for DD
- actually organize DD's dresser instead of just putting things in there wherever
- buy nursing bras
- get health insurance reinstated
- call insurance about breast pump
- vacuum out car and install car seat base
- pack DS's bag for staying with IL's when baby arrives
- pack my hospital bag
- finish making Christmas gifts so I won't have to worry about them when I've got a newborn at home
I'm trying to have all of the above completed by the end of August except packing bags, which I want done by 36 weeks. I'd rather have up to 4 weeks of having to find things to do than be unprepared in the event DD comes early like her big brother did.
Krysta6 I'm washing a few of mine. A good friend of mine gave me a good schedule for breast feeding. I'll pump one breast and let DS feed on the other so I can establish a stash. This way my DH can feed the baby if I get too tired. Plus you never know if they will have problems latching.
I'm making a list of our bills, when they're due, and payment amount so DH can be organized the first month.

My recipe calls for flax seeds as well. I've never heard about it containing cyanide? I've not really researched it either.
