  • Anyone know any remedies for baby acne? I feel so bad her face is all red and crusty. I'm going to try some coconut oil but I don't know anything else it just keeps getting worse.

Finally put together my pump (insurance company one) and yeah it does not include the piece that connects the tubing... Awesome useless product... I have just been hand pumping to save me the hassle which is a hassle in itself.
  • Has anyone heard of giving a baby apple or pear juice to relieve constipation?? Our LO has been so fussy and angry lately and hasn't pooped since yesterday morning. We are introducing formula so idk if it's from that or what. I've heard it's normal for babies to go a few days without but she seems to be in pain. Or any other ideas?!
  • I think it's okay for baby to go a few days without pooping. I use apple juice myself or with DD once she turned one but I'd call my pediatrician about giving it to such a LO.

I have never heard of giving an infant juice for any reason... Probably best to call the pediatrician.

Any other mommas constantly stressed about baby's weight gain?

We had early issues but at last two weight checks he was gaining 6-7oz a week, which is on track (EBF) but I'm still nervous. Everyone comments how tiny he is and it makes me uncomfortable.

I am convinced my supply is starting to dry up... She seems more aggressive and unhappy during feedings and it's impossible to pump a lot because I can't spend my whole day pumping and feeding when I also have a 3 year old to entertain and make feel important... I am considering supplementing to see if that helps...
  • So although nursing is still not going well, we are doing Elimination Communication a little with success. LO has peed and pooped in the toilet a handful of times. Feels good to have something turnout as anticipated!
  • We put our LO on her side today for her naps and good god she slept so much better!!! I'm worried about SIDS but I'm wondering if we should keep doing it or just make her sleep on her back like before?
  • @katyertl I don't even know how LO could suffocate the way I have her on her side. She's not turned so much that her weight is on her belly. I guess theoretically she could roll? But I physically don't know how she could do it. I don't know I've always put babies on their side to sleep, making them sleep on their back as newborns seems so cruel.

(AS A DISCLAIMER THIS IS NOT SAYING THAT SIDE SLEEPING IS THE SAFEST POSITION IT IS PROVEN THAT BACK IS THE SAFEST)

  • Ok! Glad I'm not the only one then!! Thanks for your reply!
  • I put my LO on his back but when he sleeps on a flat surface with his swaddle he somehow gets on his side and sleeps that way.
  • @rsalata2015 what's going on with babe? :( and westypet please update soon.. Thoughts and prayers with you all
  • Side sleeping too. LO rolled to his side in the hospital bassinet. Sometimes he goes to his back but I lie him down that way I always have to pick him back up with in 10 minutes. We've tried and tried but putting him on his back means I am up all night. Side gets him to sleep in 1-2 hour stretches. Not great but manageable for me. I want to minimize SIDS risk and will follow all the guidelines I can but we actually can't achieve this one. I am absolutely not going to worry about it. That won't help!

Yes!!!!!! Sucking on a paci seems to help my little girl

Mine does! I've tried a pacifier and even tried to use gas relief drops like my pedi recommended. But I've found the easiest way to get rid of them is nursing. Even if he just suckles. I wish I knew what caused them... Whether he burps or not, he gets them. My first didn't have this problem.

Yes. Every other feeding or so and most night feedings. I always nurse again as soon as I hear them, it works great. Actually its then only thing that works. My MIL woke me up from a nap once because she couldn't get him to stop hiccupping and she was so bothered by his discomfort.

  • I've noticed LO has no problem with hiccups if I hold him upright for the first 30 min after feeding him.

Can't remember who mentioned walking for PP recovery. When did y'all start adding in short walks with LO?
*i know everyone's recovery time is different, just checking everyone's timeline.*
    I'm 1 week 3 days PP today.

I started at the end of the first week with just 5-10 minute slow walks around the block. Have kept increasing the distance, but still keeping it around 30 minutes for now. (End of 3 weeks)

  • For those of you whose LOs like side sleeping, do you use any type of wedge or positioner to keep them on their sides or do they stay that way on their own?
  • @swaugh14 the swaddle I do (I still do legs up hospital swaddle at night, daytime no swaddle) makes it so I can just place her leaning on a side and she stays. I alternate which side I do but she tends to like facing right the best.

  • An interesting website (to me anyways) on SIDS research.
    https://www.sidsguild.org/about-us/
  • @dancegurl1118 Ok, interesting - thanks!
  • @swaugh14 I don't use anything but I place him in his bassinet with more room behind him than on the side he's facing. not sure if this matters, but makes me feel like he'd be more likely to roll onto his back, When we bed share, sometimes I will loop my arm behind his back to keep him in side position to nurse... and we fall asleep like that sometimes.

Not sure if this is textbook but it works well for us.
  • Anyone else having drenching night sweats? Apparently it's a hormonal thing, and it'll stick around for longer thanks to breastfeeding. Joys of motherhood huh!

Yup! I had a few nights like that and heck my days weren't much better either. But at almost 4 weeks pp I haven't had them in a while. Hope you get over them soon!
  • @aliciaspinnet I still get them at a month out. I do better if I can have a fan blowing on me. And I basically sleep in as little clothes as possible.
